On Wednesday’s Radio Show…
• Pastor Rick Warren discusses his new book, The Purpose of Christmas, and explains why he awarded President Bush with an “International Medal of Peace.”
• Lansing, Michigan Mayor Virg Bernero says that if Congress doesn’t bail out the auto industry, it will “hurt national security” and throw our economy into a depression. He’ll tell Alan why.
• Alan responds to President Bush’s admission that his biggest regret is the intelligence failure in Iraq.

NYT:
“A former Defense Department official said Wednesday that American intelligence agencies had determined that former officers from Pakistan’s Army and its powerful Inter-Services Intelligence agency helped train the Mumbai attackers.”

Please ask Preacher Warren if he has a history of drug abuse or alcoholism. Has he been in prison for any crimes?
These people always seem to have a “history”.
(Baptists are all crazy. Mega-churches are the best proof of their insanity.)
I think Warren just said, “the Jews are all going to Hell” without exactly saying so. Alan, don’t let him get away with dancing around it. Push him to clearly saying what he means!!!

“Warren was born in San Jose, California, in 1954, the son of Jimmy and Dot Warren. His father was a Baptist minister …”
Well, I guess he grew up in “prison”.
Baptists are driven to proselytize. It’s part of their programming. They have to convert others to make themselves complete. It’s not about “you”. It’s only about “them”.
They have that in common with Scientologists.
I’m glad to see “John the Trucker” is a bible thumper. It completes the picture. It connects the dots, so to speak. He’s carrying a Glock and a Bible and he’s behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler!!

Anon,
Proselytizing has nothing to do with “self” or “programming” but it has to do with the desire to make sure others hear the message and then hopefuly accept Christ as their personal saviour.
Christians are instructed by Christ to go and spread the good news.

“Christians are instructed by Christ to go and spread the good news.”
It’s part of your programming.
Charlie Wilson was GM CEO, later Eisenhower’s Secretary of Defense. During his Senate confirmation hearing …
“… when asked if as secretary of defense he could make a decision adverse to the interests of General Motors, Wilson answered affirmatively but added that he could not conceive of such a situation “because for years I thought what was good for the country was good for General Motors and vice versa.” Later this statement was often garbled when quoted, suggesting that Wilson had said simply, “What’s good for General Motors is good for the country.”
From Wikipedia.
“What’s good for GM is good for America” means something different from what Wilson really said.

anon,
I can assure you I haven’t been “programmed”. I am not a computer nor a member of a cult. I don’t drink kool aid.

“I don’t drink kool aid.”
If your preacher instructed you to, you would.
Jehovah’s Witnesses are also only spreading the good news. From my perspective, you’re all only pests.

Anonymouse,
I can tell you that I do not do everything that my preacher tells me too. A preachers job is to spread a message and the people are supposed to take whatever they can from it and it is supposed to help them. It is also the responsibility of a follower to question what he is being taught and if this agrees with what he truly believes in with his own beliefs. They may be pests to you but they are only trying to spread what they believe in to others and you can take it either way, you can either believe it and accept it as your own or you can just brush it off. And from my own perspective, you are a pest because you try to spread what you believe as true and tell other people that have other opinions as being wrong. So, you are the same as those who you call pests.

We’re arguing over a $34 billion loan to Detroit to keep them alive while Wall Street walks away with $ Trillions and limited accountability for it?
What are we spending in Iraq these days? $150 billion each year? And that ain’t a loan. It’s a gift!!
The cons are only using this as a way to axe the UAW. A little Depression is a small price to pay to crush the union and put their membership into destitution.

I think it is wonderful the way Christmas is celebrated in this country. Because of the great give away (gift giving) many people in the United States and around the world make enough to feed their families and keep a roof over their heads and some heat during the long winter months. It would even be more wonderful if other religions also celebrated in this way, their sacred holidays, as it benefits so many (even the non-believers). Some Native American tribes also celebrate or honor with a give away ceremony. I believe in the separation of Church and state. I do not think the ACLU has an attack on Christmas but want us keep those lines defined. On the other hand, if a city or state government wants to honor a religion that does so much for the economy for all by having a Christmas Tree ect. they should be able to do that. It would be great to honor other religions that benefit the economy for all!
