I am so sorry that you are leaving. I think that it is a big mis-service that Fox has done. They have taken you off the radio in our area, and now off of fox. Fox is so one sided just like msnbc.
I listened to Sean during the day and between him and Rush, you get so sick of them going on and on. Get over it guys.

Alan…I believe you will be missed from H&C. Allthese nay sayers will have to pack up and re-aim at another target. Clearly they will have no opposing view to attempt to enlighten them from Hannity’s one sided drivel. You are wished good luck in your career wherever it takes you. There are, of course, idiots on both sides of the political fence. (Proven, by some of the letters you are receiving.)
This might sound strange coming from a conservative, but I believe they are making a mistake with your vacancy. You balanced out that show.
I have always felt that the truth lies somewhere between The New York Times and the Drudge Report. Hannity and Alex Bennet. Rush and Bill Press. It’s not that one or the other lies. They just leave out (or miss) important facts that I need to know, to judge any issue. (Yes, I have given up on the mainstream media.)
O’Reilly is O’Reilly, (and that is fine.) Hannity and Colmes’ was fair and balanced. Greta is a legal reporter. Primetime at Fox worked.
Now, with one guy leaving, (you). The whole Fox primetime feels like it just shifted to the right. Which will please some, but in reality is a copy of MSNBC.
I do not understand it? Then again, I do not understand Fox putting Glenn Beck on at 5pm? Most young people are still working or heading home at 5pm. Old- retired people, who maybe at home during 5pm, are not going to understand Beck.

I bet if MSNBC placed a conservative with Maddow, they might fair pretty good against Hannity.

I’m in agreement with The Angry Republican. Hannity & COLMES helped to balance out the lineup. Having a Hannity’s America every night of the week is going to get old. It’s not the same as radio.
Although, who the heck can replace Alan? As the press release stated (and it’s true), how can the chemistry be the same? I like people like Bob Beckel and Ellis Henican, but can they put up with Hannity and have good chemistry 5 nights a week?
Hannity and Colmes — 12 years — I guess I never thought it would end. What a great run, though. Alan, I hope you are proud…you should be.

I didn’t agree a whole lot with Alan, but he did put out the liberal view to balance Sean. I actually found Alan to be the most fair and honest liberal I have ever heard. He could disagree with the guest and still show respect for him/her.

I’m surprised I haven’t seen anything about the Reunion Hall and Oates performance on the “Daily Show” that absolutely attacked Colmes boy viciously, and unfairly, in my take. “Token Liberal on Fox” was one of the least obnoxious lyrics in their remake of “She’s Gone” with Colmes oriented lyrics taking the place of that inane song.
I think Al went overboard, and didn’t do it very well, in his latter years at H/C, Hannity always seemed good natured in his skewering, while Colmes came off as defensive and simplistic. I dislike Rachel Maddow’s politics, and her sneer, but she’d probably be a good replacement for him (Hannity and Maddow? — will never happen, Fox is probably afraid of her and she’s probably afraid of Hannity). Would be entertaining though.

Alan, I wrote you 4 or 5 years ago to say that while I almost always disagree with you, I enjoy you being on the show because you are nicer to most guests than Sean Boy. I am disheartened to hear that you are leaving the show, and hope to see you return from time to time. BTW, you were right on the money about Carolyn. You are a very fair man, and while I pray I don’t turn into a left wing pinko, I try to emulate your sense of fairness in my discussions with friends. I’ve gotta say that, although I had no idea how you were able to think/believe some of the things you were saying at times, you did provide an alternate point of view. I really liked that show because there was that inherent ideological balance, unlike all of the other shows on FOX.
I do have to ask this one question though: How can you now question Caroline Kennedy’s lack of political experience in seeking a Senate seat, but give Obama a pass on that very same thing? Don’t tell me you fell into step with your left-wing marching ant band. Or do you honestly not see the parallel?

They don’t realise that eveyone has different views and they should have a place in the media just like conservative views. I hope a good, strong willed liberal fills your place. In my opinion it would be sad to see the programme become another solo for Sean Hannity.. He isin’t to bad as conservatives go but it would destroy the idea and concept of the whole show and get rid of the ONLY aspect of FOX News’s ‘fair and balanced’ slogan. Actually I like you posting the hate mail you receive. Their personal insults, their ignorance and illiteracy and worse still their posturing as righteous and good while using (more like ABUSING) their ( usually) Christian religion as a cudgel to attack discredits them far more than anything you can say in response. As the axiom goes, if you try to please everyone you please no one. As a Pagan ( and yes I am also an American, shockingly enough :-D) I know how people abuse what should be a loving faith and one of the things I’ve learned is that no matter what you say otherwise, they will choose to wallow in their ignorance so they can hate and be “righteous”.

MOE – do you really think this type of email is all that ALAN receives? If I had to take a stab in the dark on this one, I’d say ALAN receives as many positive emails from cons as he does negative…but we’ll never see them. His whole modus operandi is to smear cons to his lib buddies in order to get the response that you just gave.
Hey, ALAN, why don’t you show some “balance” to your stories and post some positive con emails?
Also, how does your response reflect upon your own personal value system? And as far as the cons using their religion for attack…which one of those emails were you referring to? That’s right, there wasn’t one! Way to pull something out of thin air to make your argument.

You may be right. I, for one, would hate to see the end of this slightly Orwellian slogan, it’s one of the more endearing phrases coming from the right wing.
