The Jimmy Carter Interview
Former president Jimmy Carter came on the radio show to discuss his book, We Can Have Peace in the Holy Land: A Plan That Will Work. He explains why we have to talk to Hamas, what lands must be traded, and why his idea is the best alternative. Oh, yeah, and he addresses the issue of lust in his heart.

What’s Wrong With Being A Vegetable Lover?
PETA makes ads they hope get banned. They get more play that way, for less cost. This ad, which was not accepted for Super Bowl play, shows models who really love vegetables…really love them, ending with the phrase, “Studies show vegetarians have better sex.”
Is this too hot for TV?

President 39 famously said in a Playboy interview in November 1976, “I’ve committed adultery in my heart many times.” Just this week actress Renee Zellweger admitted lusting for Jimmy Carter, having waited two-and-a-half hours in the cold in Manhattan to get him to sign her copy of his new book. I asked President Carter about this.
CARTER: I saw that in USA Today today. And she came through my book line and waited two hours and a half in the cold weather to see me. So I’m gonna maybe follow up on that. After I get Rosalynn’s permission.

USA Today reports:
Authorities at Super Bowl XLIII will be looking for more than just drunken fans. They’ll be watching spectators’ body language, facial expressions and demeanor to find suspicious people.
For the first time Sunday, federal behavior-detection officers will team with local police to use a controversial technique on people heading to a major event, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) says. The officers usually work in airports.
Behavior observation aims to find people in crowds acting unusually. A flagged person gets a casual interview from an officer who determines if he or she should be formally …

That was the story in 1981 as reported by KRON-TV in San Francisco. The best part of this, for me, is where they chyron a man named Richard Halloran with “Owns Home Computer”. Mr. Halloran talks of how you can actually “copy” and “save” information for use later on.

The mother was taking fertility drugs and had embryos implanted. And yet, she says she’s surprised she gave birth to so many babies. Doctors advised her about the risks involved, but she chose to continue her pregnancy.
Some fertility specialists have said the children face increased health risks because they are octuplets and born nine weeks premature. At birth, they ranged between 1 pound, 8 ounces and 3 pounds, 4 ounces.
Doctors say they advise against higher-order births, but acknowledge the decision is not theirs to make.
Doctors say they’re not in charge of telling families how …

Iceland is about to get the world’s first only openly gay head of state, Johanna Sigurdardottir, the country’s 66-year-old minister of social affairs and social security. Prime Minister Geir Haarde resigned Monday after the collapse of the country’s main banks, currency and stock market. In America, you have to wait sometimes years to replace an elected official who screws up. That’s why perhaps a parliamentary form of government may be healthier.
And they’re not so hung up over there about sleeping companions. In Britain, there’s one openly gay member of Parliament, Angela Eagle of the Labour Party. In the US there are …

Now that he’s gone, Lt. Governor Pat Quinn becomes the new governor of Illinois. The state Senate voted 59-0, with officials using words like “corrupt” , “hypocrite”, “devious”, “dishonest”, “corrupt”, and “a stain on the state”. Impeachment prosecutor David Ellis said, “He has a Constitutional right not to thrown in jail without a fair trial. But he does not have a Constitutional right to be governor. That is not a right; it’s a privilege and he forfeited that right. He has abused the power of his office.” Oh? Ever hear of elections?
Speaking to the Illinois Senate before being tossed …
