Bush Sr. On Bush Jr.’s Failures: Go Back To Your Google

January 5th, 2009, 10:38 AM EST

Poppy Bush told Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday that 43 will come home “with his head high knowing he ran a clean operation and kept this country strong and free…”  When asked if there were any things for which he could be fairly criticized, 41 suggested we use the Google for that.

Wallace: You said there earlier there are some things he could fairly be criticized for. Would you like to tell me any of those?
Bush: “No. You can go back to your, what do you call it…. Your Google, and you figure all that out.”

  1. Teh google strikes again.
See the urban dictionary for a Definition of “Perino’d”. Hit by something karmic you didn’t see coming.
Not seeing many things coming, Dana Perino was perino’d by an invisible microphone at Mr. Bush’s shoe assassination attempt.
Poppy and Barbara were perino’d by crapping out the worst president in history.

  2. How far do you expect a father to throw his own son under the bus? His answer was about what any reasonable person cound expect.

There you go Willy, T Mason, Kregg, and company. Don’t say I never threw you a bone.

  3. No. 41 has no idea of what he’s actually suggesting.

  4. Spare the rod spoil the child.

  6. I forgot the specific subject, but a few years ago I was trying to be intellectually honest and point out that a certain claim against HW’s son was either false or unverified (I don’t recall which one), and I’m pretty sure I used FactCheck.org, or some such source. The response to someone, possibly the person I was challenging, was that I was wrong, and her claim was that I “should Google” it. I never got through to the person that googling is not by itself a valid source. It’s unfortunate for HW that he doesn’t comprehend that, but, not to be ageist, he’s probably not up on computers and how search engines work. Well, to be fair, I’m not much up on it either. Still, I know telling people to google something to back up your argument is rather stupid when it comes to controversial statements, and such.

  7. Can anyone name to me ONE person in the political world that could not be critized, fairly, for some blunders, mistakes, or misjudgements?

To ask a father to list them about his son? I would have said the same thing that G.H.W. Bush said.

  8. Well,

at least he knew what google was. he could have said something silly like “back in the days of the depression, folks googled stuff like that on their computers after they listened to the president talk to them bout the great depression….

OH wait. Biden said there were tv’s during the great depression. my bad

  12. Can we not get the secret service to wheel Bush sr. back to bingo and the Lawrence Welk show. He’s the creeps dad, what does anyway expect him to say? Bush Sr. is irrelevant.

  13. Bush Sr. now wants Jeb to be president. Oh well, better than Palin!

  14. I seen that on Hardball Susan. Jeb can stay at home as far as i am concern. SR is not going to blast his son as well. We are family, the Sister Sledge song. If he runs for president i hope this nation will reject him. Is this about running our country or becoming the most powerful family on earth?

  15. cards,

i dunno. ask the kennedy’s and clinton’s the same question

  16. “” You can go back to your, what do you call it…. Your Google, and you figure all that out.””"

    We’re off-topic.

The point here is not that senior defended his little Georgie (or that he actually said he’d like to see Jeb get to be king, erm , president as well)

The point is just the mild humour, the Letterman-like use of the term ‘The Google”…like Dubya and his “The internets..”

    HAHAHA

Talk about out of touch with the rest of the world. Like McCain…can’t even use the internet, probably hasn’t used a computer since his E6-B sliderule in flight school…

Imagine Mccain making policy on computer access for public schoold, lol…”Well if the kids in the ghetto want a computer, they can buy their own like my kids do!”

    Good grief

  17. McCain on computers:

“*Cough, *hack*, why, by gum – we didn’t have them new-fangled things when I was a kid! And I don’t see why these d*mn kids need them now! They should learn to read and write and the ten commandments, plus if they want to be a scientist or an engineer, they need their times tables and square roots!

Why, that’s all I needed when I was a kid. We didn’t even have shoes…we walked to school with our feet wrapped in bacon!”

  18. The amazing level of lunacy on this blog amazes me.

How do you think the engineers and scientist became engineers and scientist before the internet.

Imagine obama making a decision to defend the country in a moments notice?

  19. MK~ There’s a novel idea!! lol

  20. -How do you think the engineers and scientist became engineers and scientist before the internet?-

Doh!, I think you’re gonna need a bit more than the times tables and, uh, the square roots…

    Signed,

    One of my friends

  21. Yea, thats right. The internet gotcha, H.W.

You see in H.W.’s day, he could lie and lie all day and by the time anybody could call him on it and tell anybody it was too late. But now when the lying sack of so-and-so republicans spew their filth, there’s 100s of people calling them on it within seconds. And the people read about it within minutes. The internet was the game changer in ‘06 and here in ‘08 and the republicans hate it.

  22. BadMrFrosty,

Talk about out of touch with the rest of the world. Like McCain…can’t even use the internet, probably hasn’t used a computer since his E6-B sliderule in flight school…

He is an old guy, my Grandmother (were she still alive), probably wouldn’t even know the word ‘google’. He isn’t ‘out of touch’ – he is old. I hope to be old someday too.

At 40 I certainly have less of an understanding of online social networking than the average 20 year old. By the time I am 84 there will be quite a few things I don’t understand as well as the younger folks.

  23. There is nothing wrong with growing old Um Cara, that wasn’t at ALL my point, ;-)

My point is that is possible, and I would think desirable, to acquire wisdom whilst doing so, and to continue to learn and expore right until the end, that’s my plan anyway….not just fade away on the shuffleboard court. Again, to each their own.

…I would like to think that the hopeful leader of the free world would have the time and aptitude to keep at least a little bit on top of the technology that is changing our world faster now than at any time in history.

To me it is sad, and jaded, when someone thinks they know it all already and don’t need to continue their studies….whether that’s a preacher, teacher or candlestick maker – there’s ALWAYS more to discover!

In fact, as regards “The Internets”, I have read that the fastest growing demographic for getting online (and networked) is in fact senior citizens!

    :-)

  25. Willy:
Much as it pains me to agree with you. I thought it was tacky for Chris Wallace to ask Bush Sr. to basically list his son’s failures.

  26. Google might explode if one attempts to enter “Bush’s failures.”

  27. you people need to get a life esp phillip. you must be very young. everyone here is not a liberalist or dem.saying george sr needs to go back to bingo shows your true ignorance. maybe you should go back to day care little punk. every one her isnt judging you so what gives you the right?
