Carolyn Maloney: If We Can Have A President Named Hussein, We Can Have A Senator Not Named Kennedy

Carolyn Maloney has served in the House representing Manhattan since 1993.  She is also going around New York state and meeting with officials.

“We’re in a world financial crisis,” she said. “China and Germany bailed out their auto industries. It was the right vote.”

The nation’s economic crisis calls for experienced leaders who can hit the ground running from day one, Maloney said.

“I’ve been a city councilor, I’ve been in Congress for 16 years,” she said. “I know how to win campaigns. This is a different selection. I have a record to run on. If I’m chosen, I know I’d be ready on day one.”

If a man with a name Barack Hussein Obama could become president of the United States of America, then someone whose last name isn’t Kennedy can become senator, she said.

Responses to this post...

  1. I, ya know, can actually, ya know, agree, ya know, with what, ya know, Ms., ya know, Maloney is, ya know, saying. Just, ya know, because Caroline Kennedy, ya know, has that, ya know, last name doesn’t, ya know, means she, ya know, is the best, ya know, person for the, ya know, job, ya know.

  2. What’s your point, Willy?

  3. Heven’t you heard Caroline’s interview? She said “ya know” thirty times in about a minute and a half. And you said Sarah Palin was an air head. Or something to that effect.

  4. Willy:

Yes, I believe I did say that about Palin. And you went off on me for it. And Maloney may have trouble speaking, but at least she capable of rational thought.

  5. Let’s just be fair here TDRO. Where are you on Caroline? I think you would be all over Sarah if she interviewed like this, with all the ya knows. Does that put Caroline in the same catagory?

  6. ya know willy, the ya know libs, ya know, don’t ya know, hold their ya know candidates, ya know to the same standards ya know that ya know they hold ya know…ours.

    Astonishing.

But she is a mother, an author and has volunteered…so she is obviously qualified for sure ya know

  8. That is my whole point Bilssful. I am just trying to get that point across to the libs. A really tough thing to do, I know.

    Sarah, a mayor. A governor. A mother.
Caroline, an author. A volunteer. A mother.

  9. Willy:
I don’t much care for Caroline Kennedy. I don’t think she should be elected because of her name. However, I do like Robert Kennedy, Jr. He’s very knowledgeable in the political realm.

    Blissful:
I just read in another post where you were whining about all the negative things liberals say about conservatives (Palin in general). And here you are mocking Caroline. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

And another thing, Willy. If you are having a tough time getting things across to the liberals, why keep banging your head against a brick wall and posting on a liberal site?

  10. So you think it would be easier to ‘get things across to the liberals’ by posting on a conservative site?

  11. TDRO,

I didn’t call her a name did I? SHE said ya know about a million bazillion times. That isn’t saying something negative about someone. That is truth.

  12. I just had a few minutes downtime and scrolled through the comments. I’m actually amazed that our overworked Blissful has so much time to hang on the computer and write comment, all day! I’d fire her butt if she worked for me! She’s everywhere….she’s everywhere!

  13. Blissful:
Okay I said Sarah Palin isn’t qualified to be vice-president. That isn’t saying something negative about someone. That is truth.

  14. Hope for Change:
Basically what I meant was, if Willy can’t seem to get his point across to liberals, why keep trying? If he thinks we are that rock headed, maybe he’d be more comfortable complaining about liberals on a right wing site.

  15. Never give up, never surrender, TDRO.

  16. As Pontious Pilate once said TDRO. “Truth. What is the truth.”

  17. I am only going to say this one more time or my head will pop. You just said sarah palin wasn’t qualified. Lay out her resume that prepared her to be vp and lay out obama’s who is now our pres. she wasn’t qualified but he is, and now caroline kennedy is?

Bit of a discrepancy there in your logic

  18. Looks like Patterson may pick KENNEDY after after watching Hardball. Maloney may seem a better fit to me.

  19. Blissful:
I think I will wait for your head to pop.

  20. Now TDRO, why would you do that? That’s not very nice.

  21. Some repubs think Palin is qualified; some dems think Caroline is qualified. I think neither is qualified for the position that they are offered. Only difference is, so far, the repubs gave Palin the nod and the dems are still debating the issue. Big deal, Caroline will not get the position. It will soon become a non-issue.

  22. When Hubert Humphrey died, the Minnesota governor appointed his wife Muriel to finish his term. Jean Carnahan was appointed to fill her husband’s seat in Missouri after he died. These women had no political experience yet there was no big outcry about it. As far as I know, both did pretty well in the Senate.
