• Los Angeles considers a ban on outdoor smoking in dining areas: none of their business or smart for business?

Responses to this post...

  1. smart for business. It has been enacted in my state and the 3 restaurant owners I know have seen an increase in business since the ban.

  2. Businesses can decide whether to allow smoking outdoors or not, if the ban is good for biz, they’ll ban it, if it isn’t they’ll allow it.

  3. Um,

Where I live it is state law, it isn’t up to businesses.

  4. Sean Hannity said to Bush in the oval office that” Obama does like me”. Why do you think that is?

  5. My old job is now done by H1B Indian imports.

The Indian imported labor is doing the work that this American won’t do.

This is only technically true because their current wages are less than I made ten years ago and I “won’t” go back to do the work I used to do at those wages. And, while my old job was “permanent” until it wasn’t, the Indians are all temp labor and easily disposed of which I wouldn’t be to keen to sign on for either.

Colmes’ “open borders” speech is nice and friendly but not very practical for most of us “Americans”. As long as pockets of poor people are available around the world to draw labor from, open borders only skew the American labor market in favor of employers. American labor will only “catch up” to the rest of the world when our living standard drops to a level closer to theirs.

Sometimes, Colmes is an a hole.

  6. Why is it that such a big majority of the USA pro Israel? From what I’ve been seeing Hamas seems to be the most reasonable ones in this mess.

I think shooting rockets is bad but if you put your self’s in the shoes of Hamas or Gaza…

-An overpowering army is building a physical wall on your land cutting you off from water supply, farmland, medical supply, and electricity that belongs to you not aloud to travel to see the other half of your country the Westbank.

-Being democratically elected into office and not being recognized buy the other democratic countries in the world. Having them call you a terrorist organization because you are not the party they wanted to have elected in your country.

-Hamas has stated, if Palestine gets ALL of the territory that belongs to them back their water, electricity, and respect back that there would be no more war.

    Sounds fair to me.

I’m not worried about the safety of Israel they have a pretty impressive military

    Do the math

Israel 4 civilian deaths 10 solders dead

Gaza almost 1000 dead more than half are civilians and I think more than 3,000 injured

Alan I wanted to call your show I’m always driving home from work and you say the phone number too fast and I can never remember it and dial it at the same time and I don’t see it on your web site.

  7. I had to look it up to make sure:

    panty·waist, noun

    Date: circa 1936

1: a child’s garment consisting of short pants buttoned to a waist.

    2: sissy.

    Now, I know.

    John-the-trucker is an a hole.

  8. The matter with Gaza, in my mind, is being convoluted. Israel didn’t start the war. Palestine did when they elected Hamas, a group that had been dedicated to fighting Israel and showed no signs of changing that path. It’s just taken this long to escalate (and likely will be worse after Israel’s elections).

To correlate, imagine if Pakistan elected Osama Bin-Laden, or had an Al-Qaeda party that gained 60% of their seats. If you throw your support behind somebody that is our enemy, then you are aiding and abetting that enemy. Palestine basically did the same thing when they elected Hamas. Maybe it’s unintended consequences, or maybe a lack of looking forward, but that Palestine elected Hamas, a group that fits well into the concept of terrorism, seems to imply that Palestine wanted to fight Israel.

It’s the same thinking as to why many Republicans are so scared about our national security with our country having elected Mr. Obama. Many people see this election as a sign that we, the American people, do not agree with the wars abroad and are trying to change policy. Who you elect sends a signal to everyone, and that Palestine elected a group that is very anti-Israel sent that message. And when Israel likely elects people who are very anti-Palestine here soon partially as a result of what have been internally considered very weak policy toward Palestine aggression (even up to the outbreak of fighting), it will be a clear symbol back.

I was responding to Alan’s posting, not yours.

  10. Danny: Why is it that such a big majority of the USA pro Israel? From what I’ve been seeing Hamas seems to be the most reasonable ones in this mess.

    Danny,
The UN bought the land the Israelis are on and gave it to them for a homeland. The surrounding Arabs have been trying to take it back ever since. The US stands by the original UN action in spite of Arab opinion. The Israelis have showed great restraint at the behest of the US in retaliating against the countless Arab attacks on them. If I was Israeli and they were trying to kill my family I’d have to be restrained to keep me from going after them. I”m not sure how you consider Hamas’ actions in rocketing Israel and then hiding amongst school children and hospital patients to avoid retaliation “reasonable”.

  11. Lest anyone thing that Hamas is just a local, hometown social club intent on walking old ladies across the street and picking up litter in the park please remember that they are a front for – and financed and supplied by – the Iranians.

  12. It is so nice to listen to Hannity and not have to listen to Alan. You are a complete idiot and it is wonderful you are not on TV any more. Every time you opened your stupid mouth my blood pressure went up 100 points. You are an ingoramous of the highest caliber.
