Krispy Kreme Accused Of Making “Pro Abortion Doughnuts”
No, you can’t invent this stuff. The American Life League is all upset about this press release from Krispy Kreme, announcing a promotion in conjunction with the inauguration of Barack Obama.
Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. (NYSE: KKD) is honoring American’s sense of pride and freedom of choice on Inauguration Day, by offering a free doughnut of choice to every customer on this historic day, Jan. 20. By doing so, participating Krispy Kreme stores nationwide are making an oath to tasty goodies — just another reminder of how oh-so-sweet “free” can be.
The anti-abortion group is warning Americans that we …

Only one senator on the Foreign Relations Committee voted not to bring the nomination of Hillary Clinton for Secretary of State to the Senate floor for a full vote. That senator is Louisiana’s David Vitter, a one-time client of the infamous DC Madam.
In a statement, Vitter called former President Bill Clinton’s foundation a “multimillion dollar minefield of conflicts of interest.”
“This could produce explosions at any minute, particularly concerning the Middle East where we least need them,” Vitter said.
Vitter, who refused to forgive Bill Clinton for his sins of the flesh, nevertheless praised his own …

After years of having Justice Department officials skirt around the question of whether waterboarding is torture, it’s refreshing that Obama’s AG-designate stated upfront that this practice violates our basic tenets. It’s certainly a departure from a vice president who admitted being involved in the waterboarding of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and who, in hindsight, doesn’t believe these tactics go too far.
In past hearings, Attorney General Michael Mukasey and his predecessor, Alberto Gonzales, frustrated senators by repeatedly sidestepping questions about waterboarding, a harsh interrogation tactic that simulates drowning.
The controversial tactic was the first topic discussed at Holder’s confirmation hearing, …
Cheney: Lives Lost In Iraq Were Worth It

Speaking with Lehrer on PBS, Dick Cheney showed no remorse for the lives lost in Iraq. Via Think Progress.
Q: But Mr. Vice President, getting from there to here, 4,500 Americans have died, at least 100,000 Iraqis have died. Has it been worth that?
CHENEY: I think so.
Q: Why?
CHENEY: Because I believed at the time what Saddam Hussein represented was, especially in the aftermath of 9/11, was a terror-sponsoring state so designated by the State Department. … He had produced and used weapons of mass destruction, chemical and biological agents. …

Republican Senator Tom Coburn of Oklahoma bet Democratic Senator Bill Nelson of Florida on the BCS title game. Like most Republicans this year, Coburn lost when the Florida Gators beat the Oklahoma Sooners 24-14. To pay up, Coburn had to serenade Nelson with his rendition of the 70′s Elton John Classic. Nelson is a former astronaut, and Coburn is a doctor. Makes you wonder if Coburn had won, would Nelson have had to sing “Bad Case of Loving You”. Being a good sport, Nelson didn’t make Coburn go it alone.
Of course, it would be virtually impossible to …

Mohammed al-Qahtani has been described as “the 20th hijacker” in the 9/11 attacks. Susan J. Crawford, the senior Pentagon official in charge of prosecuting detainees, told Bob Woodward of the Washington Post that his treatment amounted to torture. Techniques used included sustaned isolation, sleep deprivation, nudity and prolonged exposure to cold, leaving him in a “life-threatening condition.”
“We tortured [Mohammed al-]Qahtani,” said Susan J. Crawford, in her first interview since being named convening authority of military commissions by Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates in February 2007. “His treatment met the legal definition of torture. And that’s why I did not …

The family hit the national scene when a local bakery refused to put the name “Adolf Hitler” on a birthday cake. Now, the New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services has removed young Adolf, along with his sisters JoyceLynn Aryan Nation, 1, and 8-month-old Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie, from the home of parents Heath and Deborah Campbell. No reason is being given for the action. Holocaust denial and Nazi decorations shouldn’t be enough reason, should they?…

Bradley Schlozman, who ironically headed the civil rights division of the Department of Justice on an interim basis under Bush, discriminated against liberal applicants and made false statements to Congress about it, according to a DOJ investigation.
The report says Schlozman politicized and mistreated his staff and tried to punish agency employees he believed were too liberal. The report cited an e-mail in which Schlozman noted it had been awhile since he’d had to “scream with a bloodcurdling cry at some commie.”
In the same 2003 missive, Schlozman used derogatory language to describe his pleasure in punishing career …

And that’s not even the Coleman campaign. In Hallock, MN the wind chill factor was at 58 below.
At about 8 a.m., temperatures were minus 40 in International Falls and minus 35 in Roseau. Farther south, Minneapolis hit 18 below zero with a wind chill of 32 below and black ice was blamed for numerous accidents.
In neighboring North Dakota, Grand Forks dropped to a record low of 37 below zero Tuesday morning, lopping six degrees off the old record set in 1979, the National Weather Service said.…

Sheldon Whitehouse (left), who sits on both the Intelligence and and Judicial Committees, says Congress needs to look at the secret legal opinions drafted for Vice President Cheney.
“I think that there’s a lot that remains to look at, and I appreciate that President Obama doesn’t want to make it his purpose as a new president, with America in real distress in many directions, to go back and look at all this, but I think we in Congress have an independent responsibility, and I fully intend to discharge that responsibility,” Whitehouse said.
Warrantless wiretapping and coercive investigations would be …
