• “Manhattan MadamKristin Davis, whose prostitutes catered to former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer, joins Alan to reveal what went on behind closed doors.

Responses to this post...

  1. I’d be willing to bet some sort of hanky-panky went on “behind closed doors”.

  2. Whoa, Helen Thomas is still on the job.

The Republic may yet survive, heh.

  3. I don’t want to argue democrat vs republican. But how in all honestly can we justify mortgaging the next two-three generations just to “feel good” now? Sadly, some people would have to fail, yes. But maybe they would bounce back to be even more successful. I just can’t buy this notion that government is the saviour.

  4. Deb said,

“But how in all honestly can we justify mortgaging the next two-three generations just to “feel good” now?”
    ……………………….

That’s what many of us think the last 8 years have been.

It’s not that government is the saviour, just that it has to correct it’s own mistakes.

So STAY out of it!!!!! Can’t make a right with two wrongs.

  6. Fox news stop Foxing the american people.

  7. Hehe.

It always seems like the strangest, most left-field comments get posted in the radio show posts.

Anyway, I imagine this is the Tuesday show, not the Monday one. And the poster is some Joel, not Alan! *infer fake confusion*

  8. “”But how in all honestly can we justify mortgaging the next two-three generations just to “feel good” now? “”

    You mean,
Drill here, drill now, pay less?

    And all that right-wing selfishness?

    I agree Deb, good point.

  9. Cliff Cornell should face military justice. A court marshall and if found guilty, time in Leavenworth. He is a coward for running away while his fellow soldiers are fighting and risking their lives.

  10. I agree with you on this one Willy. You know what you are signing up for when you enlist. If you are a conscientious objector then don’t enlist.

  11. OLD LEFTY,

How, exactly does drilling for more resources equal mortgaging future generations and right-wing selfishness? You mean to tell me you didn’t complain once about the price of gas this past summer when you filled up and wish the gov’t would do something about it? If you didn’t, then you’re literally the only one.

  12. Jared…Oil is a finite resource, it IS going to become more and more scarce. You do know that, right?

And gobbling it all up without a second thought to generations down the road is the most selfish and thoughless act imaginable.

At the very LEAST, could you neo-cons stop crying about money spent to develop alternate fuels, please?

Even if you think CO2 is fine, and pollution is healthy…we are still pigging out on a finite resource, there is no excuse.

Fuel standards for cars…FOUGHT by the GOP
    Alternative energy…FOUGHT by the GOP
    Carbon resposibility….FOUGHT by the GOP

In 50 years, the conservative oil-gobblers will be vilified and hated like slave-holders were 150 years ago… (many the family name will be the same too, ironically)

  13. How, exactly does drilling for more resources equal mortgaging future generations and right-wing selfishness? You mean to tell me you didn’t complain once about the price of gas this past summer when you filled up and wish the gov’t would do something about it? If you didn’t, then you’re literally the only one.

Are you kidding? Many environmentalists were quite pleased that oil was rising to a level where alternative energies were economical. Oil would not be economical if it’s true costs to society were baked into the price.

  14. Technolgy and inovation supression is probably the only reason we all are not flyin around in Jetson’s cars.

  15. CAFE standards are one reason for the auto industry woes. I SAID ONE REASON, SO DON’T TAKE ME OUT OF CONTEXT. OK.

I can remember the environmental wackos in the mid 1970’s shouting from the rooftops that we, the world, had only 25 years of oil left in this good earth. Hmmm. Thirty five years later they are still pumping tens of millions of barrels every day from the good ol earth. And we have more than one trillion barrels of oil in our own little United States of America.

I am really tired of all the chicken little liberals crying the sky is falling, knowing good and well that it is nothing but lies.

  16. “I am really tired of all the chicken little liberals crying the sky is falling”

You mean like Bush’s “smoking gun, mushroom cloud” reference?

  17. McFROSTY,

Try this for a change: stop being so damn pessimistic. You’re starting to sound like Obama when he talks about the economy.

Do YOU drive a hybrid? If you don’t, then you have no basis for denegrating the entire US for not sparing mother earth. What has Canada done to help sustain the world’s oil supply? I’ll help you out: not a whole lot.

“Ian MacLellan has a message when it comes to renewable energy: “Canada needs to get with the program.”” “Subsidies for wind and solar power are marginal in Canada, and virtually non-existent for wave, geothermal, and biomass energy.”

Wow, this seems to be a recurring theme on this site: putting words in people’s mouths to make your argument. I said nothing about CO2 and pollution being fine. I drive a hybrid car, my house is as environmentally friendly as possible, and I recycle. So, don’t preach to me about needing to save the earth from the neo-cons.

I don’t make gov’t policy…and if memory serves me correctly, Obama didn’t get on the “alternative energy” bandwagon until McCain made it a fundamental principal of his campaign.

And hindsight is great, isn’t it? It’s awfully easy to see the effects of billions of cars on the road when you look over the last 10-20 years. And, you’re wrong…Bush’s administration wasn’t negligent in this area…He was pushing alternative engeries a helluva lot more than Clinton. It was your beloved Dems who opposed things like nuclear energy, clean coal technology, etc. On the other hand (OLD LEFTY will like this one) Clinton’s “alternative energy policy” provided ENRON with ginormous profits.

  18. Leave the terrorist alone, leave Iran go, like so many liberals want to do and we just might see a mushroom cloud somewhere.

  19. I hear old Harry Reid thinks that only those Republicans who voted for the HUGH SOCIALIST SPENDING PACKAGE are patriots. Meaning that those who didn’t are not patriotic. Imagine if a Republican had said that.

  20. He’d fit in well with Joe “paying higher taxes is patriotic” Biden…!como siempre’! Dems and Repubs: “you’re only a patriot when you do what I want you to.” Now that’s bipartisanship in action!

  21. Meaning that those who didn’t are not patriotic. Imagine if a Republican had said that.

    ……………………………….

    That’s ALL Republicans EVER say.

  22. Once again Lefty, you come back with the same comment.

  23. Like the famous come back “Oh Yeah!”

  24. “”I am really tired of all the chicken little liberals crying the sky is falling, knowing good and well that it is nothing but lies.”"

So what you are saying is what?

That oil is an unlimited resource, and ‘god’ made us stewards of the earth, and we can just burn it all up and leave the worry to our great grandchildren?

What’s the ‘lie’ here Willy, praytell?

In the last 20 years oil recovery technology HAS advanced and we are now able to get oil from shale, and here in canada, oil sands…great, so we’ve put ‘peak oil’ off for a generation, so what?

Are you going to let your partisan love for GOP politics allow you to pretend there is no looming energy crisis?

The irony is that environmentalists and biologists (like my poor dad, although he’s happily retired, don’t worry!) HAVE been warning about our degradation of the environment and wasteful exploitation of resoursces for 40 years….and here we are, we all know it now…and we have neo-cons like Jared talking about “hindsight”!

And STILL you think we’re doing enough, which for 8 years has been NOTHING…and yet you whine about ANY attempt to move ahead…it’s unbelievable, really,…

…Fared, you actually think that Democrats are INSPIRED by the GOP on environmental policy?!
And you sit there and post that?

    Are you, in fact, crazy?

  25. McFROSTY,

I neither said, nor implied the Dems were inspired by the GOP. I was merely providing counterpoint to your baseless comment that the GOP was singlehandedly murdering our earth.

And, yet again, Bush did more than Clinton in pushing for alternative energy sources…so, you’re gonna have to say “the past 16 years” from now on, when you decrie the US’ impact on the environment.

No comment on Canada’s bringing the rear in terms of environmentally-safe technological advances? Interesting…always willing to point the finger, but never willing to take the blame. Are you a closet politician?

  26. “Leave the terrorist alone, leave Iran go, like so many liberals want to do and we just might see a mushroom cloud somewhere”
    Posted by willy

First of all, the terrorists have been out of office since 1/20/09. Second, your “kill them before they kill us” rhetoric is getting old and it doesn’t work.

What makes you think Iran is that stupid? Do you actually believe they think we won’t retaliate? Besides, Russia has their back so if we initiate a strike on Iran, we can kiss our asses goodbye.

And all because Willy wants to look like a tough guy.

  27. Do you think Iran cares if we retaliate? Their leader thinks he is the chosen one to usher in the next messiah and wipe the jews from the face of the earth.

  28. Blissful:
So what do you suggest? You seem to have all the answers. You’re quick to criticize, but I still would like to hear your solution. What do you think the commander in chief should do?

  29. The “lie” Frosty is from the environmental wacko wing of the democratic party that said we would be out of oil by the year 2000. By the last estimate I heard there is enough oil under the earth layers and under the oceans floors tho last another 200 years.

Talking about our children and grandchildren worrying. The HUGH PORKULUS PACKAGE is going to burden our children and grand children and great grandchildren wiht VERY HUGE DEFICITS for as far as the eye can see.

But that seem ok with liberals. By the way, liberals blasted Bush with his HUGH bailout, but are dreadfully silent about Obama’s HUGE bailout.

  30. “”No comment on Canada’s bringing the rear in terms of environmentally-safe technological advances? “”

Please google “Ballard hydrogen fuel cell”, “Canada leads the world in tidal power” lol…you REALLY don’t read much, do you, Jared?

Look, you can turn this into a pi**ing contest between nations if it makes you feel better to have company in misery, but the ‘mind set’ in Canada is VERY GREEN, and has been for many years. If our (currently Conservative) gov’t lags behind the will of the people, that’s natural, but at least the will is there….the politicians will follow.

Hope it’s the same down there, even without your support.

Willy, you are DANGEROUSLY misinformed. I wouldn’t care but I expect there are millions like you.

PLEASE read more about “Peak Oil” from DIFFERENT sources and not just right-wing propaganda. It’s true that the technology for extracting the oil has IMPROVED, although the cost, including to the environment is increasing.

The trillion dollars that is being invested in infrastructure and jobs worries you? Mate, it’s a drop in the bucket to the effect of falling victim to the right-wing propaganda that oil will last forever!

I look forward to OPEC putting the price back up this summer, which they will do now that no-ones talking about alternative energy, and the neo-cons are crying about a paltry few millions for research!

You fools, lol, you know not what you do!

    HAHAHAHA

(thunderous organ music, borrowed from a TREES post!)

  31. “”I was merely providing counterpoint to your baseless comment that the GOP was singlehandedly murdering our earth”!!!!

    ?!?!

Jared, the GOP has not been accused of this by ANYONE (?!)….although the saying is apt…”if you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem…”

It is NOT alternative energy policy to demand more drilling, “right here, right now, pay less”….it is short-sighted selfish and typically conservative mantra…

So you are not single-handedly murdering the earth (?!)…but you sure ain’t no ’steward of it”…

  32. McFROSTY,

Again with the finger pointing and none of the taking responsibility. News Flash…everything that’s wrong in this world is not America’s or George Bush’s fault.

And STILL you think we’re doing enough, which for 8 years has been NOTHING…and yet you whine about ANY attempt to move ahead…it’s unbelievable, really,…

If you weren’t blaming the GOP in the above statement, I apologize…but it sure made some pretty obvious implications…

And let’s get one thing straight (if you’re willing to not do what you constantly accuse right-wingers of doing…not listen to alternative points of view) the “drill here, drill now” mantra was a result of the exorbitant gas prices over the summer…surely you can see that we have neither “drilled here” or “drilled now”.

Explain to me how you feel so darn comfortable condemning the US for our lack of environmental progress all the while living in a country that is, itself, leaps and bounds behind the US in this particular category?

  33. “Canada leads the world in Tidal Power”…which you conveniently forget to mention only makes up a fragemenary amount of your national energy consumption…hahahaha. nice try, but I read plenty.

“without my support”…again with the assumptions of what I believe/don’t believe. I told you that my whole household practices environmentally friendly practices…you must’ve missed that paragraph.

  34. “”Explain to me how you feel so darn comfortable condemning the US for our lack of environmental progress all the while living in a country that is, itself, leaps and bounds behind the US in this particular category?”"

Because, Jared, whether I want to admit it or not, the US is the big kid on the block, she calls all the plays… :-(

Personally, I don’t have any data that says that Canada is “leaps and bounds” behind the US in green policy (!?)…
….perhaps I too am a victim of our media. But I do know ONE thing, and that is that the ‘energy crisis’ and ’science’ and ‘green’ policy is at the forfront of our news media…and Paris Hilton seems to be at the forefront of yours…. :-(

And, btw, the tidal power project here in NS IS a small percentage of our total energy…of course we DO generate a lot from hydro…the cleanest of ALL powers.

Look, Jared, I’ve heard enough from you to know that you are as concerned about the future as I am….why do we need to go head to head about EVERYTHING?

Canada sucks here, the US sucks there…on and on it goes – where it stops, nobody knows!

THIS is what happens when big business muddies the issues…

For ‘heaven’s’ sake, can we NEVER agree that the earth needs to be treated as a gift? Or are you intent on raping her for all she’s got, in order to advance your own status?

It breaks my heart, it really does, to see ‘biblical’ nonsense overtake science when it comes to the non-renewable reasources (Oil, Coal, soil)…

Can you not accept ANY science? ANY at ALL?

  35. In fact, Jared, you seem SO partisan, that we are both wasting our time here. ;-(

YOU say the earth is FINE…and that scientists are “panicking”…

I, as a (reluctant) child of a biologist, have grown up knowing that humans HAVE used technology to OVERPOPULATE…

..and never the twain shall meet…

    How sad.

    :-(

  36. I, as a (reluctant) child of a biologist, have grown up knowing that humans HAVE used technology to OVERPOPULATE…

Yes while Paul R. Ehrlich’s book the Population Bomb has been much criticized because he did not properly account for advancement in technology, it does not mean the basic premise is false. We may have just delayed the outcome rather then avoid it.

  37. FROSTY,

Finally! We’ve finally come to some common ground, the two of us. :)

I accept all kinds of science…although it is science that got us into the pickle we’re in, what with all of the fancy gas-a-hol vehicles and all…

YOU say the earth is FINE…and that scientists are “panicking”…

I’ve never said this, nor do I believe it.

  38. And, btw, the tidal power project here in NS IS a small percentage of our total energy…of course we DO generate a lot from hydro…the cleanest of ALL powers.

But what about the dam fish?????

I live in an area with a lot of dams and the wasted money that goes into saving the salmon (or dams, depending on which side of the fence you are sitting) is astounding.

The most hypocritical point is that the save the fish people don’t allow you to count hatchery fish in the numbers…so even though we work to replenish the numbers, those numbers don’t “count”

It’s unfortunate that we aren’t able to expand Hydropower in this country. it really is the cleanest around.

It’s also a crying shame that so many misinformed people are against Nuclear. Zero emission energy whose only waste can be 100% physically contained. and with newer technologies, even more energy can be extracted from less material.
