Utah GOP Governor Says Republicans In Congress “Inconsequential”
Governor Jon M. Huntsman, Jr. of Utah says his Republican brethren in Congress lack ideas rendering them so “inconsequenetial” that he doesn’t bother talking to them.
“I don’t even know the congressional leadership,” Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. told editors and reporters at The Washington Times, shrugging off questions about top congressional Republicans, including House Minority Leader John A. Boehner of Ohio and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky. “I have not met them. I don’t listen or read whatever it is they say because it is inconsequential – completely.”
Here’s the video via the Washington Times.
Huntsman is no fan of the stimulus package, but he says Republicans have offered no alternative and aren’t seen as partners in creating a workable solution. Of course, he does say he’ll take the money.

What!?! So doesn’t talk to his own party? What kind of politician doesn’t engage with people? He should quit his job right now. I’ll take it in his place. I’ll go out to beers with the GOP Congress members and try to solve all the problem of the world with my own two hands.
Inconsequential:
Not true. This is same thing many libs do that gets us trashed on. Nothing is completely inconsequential. Letting the minor issues go is very important for our mental health but some matters are serious and cannot be thrown aside. This is a Republican who is dancing the liberal dance of “I don’t see you, I don’t hear you, your not there” and it never ever works. It just lets everyone else roll right over you like a bump in the road.
That’s what Huntsman is setting himself up to be. Just a bump in the road for the next Governor to drive over. Not smart. If I was his advisor I’d be trying to get him to back off this motis operandi.

Maybe Huntsman recognizes that the Republican mantra for years has been let the free market fix everything and that’s so out of date it’s sad.

He should talk, however those 2 bone heads the man is speaking of is singing the same old song and dance that was rejected on 11/4/08.

Let’s see, Gov. Huntsman is running a state that is in need of $$ from the Federal government. Does he take care of the people that he is responsible for? Or, does he rushes off and ignore the needs of the people of Utah? I strongly suspect that the people of Utah will vote for Huntsman in the next primary.
Why? Because he put people ahead of politics.
President Obama and others can learn something from him. There is a time to stand up and do what is right for the people they’re responsible for.
I am including President Obama for a simple reason. I have yet to see him stand firmly against Pelosi and Reid. He is going to have to do so, as they can be just as bad as their Republican brethren.

What has Huntsman done to help the GOP with ideas? He’s quick to criticize, and I’m not saying it’s rightly so, but criticizing is part of the problem and not the solution. The democrats don’t trust the people to make the right decision and it isn’t the right atitude in my opinion. We are nothing if we don’t stand on principles. The problem is no one seems to know what the principles are anymore. The govenor just needs to learn to keep his mouth shut unless he has something beneficial to say. Otherwise he’s just adding to the hatred that has bred this partisanship. Congress can’t work together if they don’t trust one another and believe they are out for the common good of the people. Way to go moron … add another log to the fire … geez!

Republicans in Congress did come up with ideas to get this economy moving again but were shut out by new rules in the House that basically will not allow any bill to be re-comitted for admendments or debate. Basically this allows the majority in the House to ram through any bill it wants without any debate.

Great point WILLY,both sides have to work togather. Nancy P. is a thorn to Obama and the GOP.
At the sametime,i think Obama knows Nancy P and company will send a bill with alot of goodies on it and let the conservatives do the dirty work on cutting the bill down and let hardline conservatives complain and get the moderates to come along.
They or the GOP hardliners are playing into Obama,s hands.
In all honesty,he is doing a good job about it and painting a darn good picture of GOP being out of touch with the AMERICAN people.
Obama is 1 smart cookie and he has done more in less than a 100 days than Bush did in a year.

What are you talking about (again) Willy?
The GOP forked over 3/4 billion to the banks, who still won’t lend, how were they “shut out”?!
Lol

regardless of this quote. The Huntsman family is pretty cool and single handedly have probably done more to relieve the suffering of their fellow beings than anyone in the history of the nation. His father is a billionaire and has waged a one man war on cancer and intends on spending every last dime of his fortune on the eradication of cancer, Jr. sits/sat on his cancer board.
His job isn’t to come up with ideas for congress as he is the Governor of a State his job is to come up with ideas to help his state. I don’t live in Utah, but after a quick check I see that he won reelection with 77% of the vote, so he’s pretty popular.

The GOP had plenty of help from the Dems in Congress when they doled out the $750 Billion to the banks. Come on Frosty, you know that. Both parties are guilty of Grand Theft.

I think Huntsman’s right on. Deliver tangible return on taxpayers’ investments, and reap the rewards (re-election).

Hmm, Obama is using the GOP and Blue Dog Dems to deal with Nancy P. and crew?
I was hoping that the moderate Dems, Blue Dogs and GOP would team up. I say this because I don’t trust the Far Left. Love to see this become more evidence, as I didn’t see it.
By the way, am I right to lump the moderate Democrats in with the Blue Dogs and the GOP?
