Alan Keyes Is Crazier Than Ever

bobirthcertificate

Maybe he’s bitter than his carpetbagging attempt to beat Obama for an Illinois Senate seat didn’t work out, but Alan Keyes is still pushing the idea that our newly-elected president doesn’t have a valid US birth certificate and can’t be the president.  Keyes won’t acknowledge that Obama is our president, and calls him a “usurper” and a “radical communist” who will destroy this country.  Keyes says he’s “an abomination” who favors infanticide and if he continues as president, America will cease to exist.

Obama’s Hawaiian birth certificate is a matter of record.   I wonder what part of the …

What Kind Of Society Are We?

Are we the kind of society that says, “To Hell with my neighbor”?  The kind that cares not about those who suffer as long as *we’re* doing okay?  Many angry taxpayers resent that the Obama mortgage plan gives even slight relief on a mortgage’s principal if the mortgage balance is worth more than the home in some cases.  Left out by objectors is that this applies only to loans backed by Fannie and Freddie, and borrowers have to be current on their loans.

But Rick Santelli, who covers the Chicago Board of Trade for CNBC, began ranting during a live …

Neocon Says There’s No Such Thing As A Neocon

richard-perle-1

Or, as the Washington Post‘s Dana Milbank put it, “Prince of Darkness Denies Own Existence.”   Richard Perle promoted the idea of preemptive war and was influential in convincing the administration to go into Iraq.  Now, Perle says, “There’s no such thing as neoconservative foreign policy.”

And about the 1996 report that he co-authored saying Saddam should be removed? ”My name was on it because I signed up for the study group,” Perle explained. “I didn’t approve it. I didn’t read it.”

What about the two letters he wrote Bush 43 giving a “moral” basis for removing Saddam …

Binyam Mohamed To Be Freed From Gitmo

15216865

The British resident will be returned to the UK as soon as Monday.  There is evidence that Mohamed was tortured and abused after being arrested in Pakistan in 2002, the rendered to Morocco, where he was again tortured and abused.  Britain refused to release information about him at the behest of the US, saying doing so would compromise security.

Mohamed’s attorney, Clive Stafford Smith, appeared on radio with me this week and described how his client was treated, including having his genitals sliced with a scalpel.  No charges were ever filed against him.

NY Post Apologizes…Sort Of

After the Sean Delonas cartoon where he inexplicably tied the death of an out-of-control chimp to the author of the stimulus plan, the Editor-in-Chief of the New York Post issued a defensive statement.  Now, after more uproar, the Post put up a non-apology apology on its web site

Wednesday’s Page Six cartoon – caricaturing Monday’s police shooting of a chimpanzee in Connecticut – has created considerable controversy.

It shows two police officers standing over the chimp’s body: “They’ll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill,” one officer says.

It was meant to …

Republicans Talk Out Of Both Sides Of Their Mouths On Stimulus Package

Missouri Senator Kit Bond banners his website with, “We Must Invest in Affordable Housing for Needy Families, Create Jobs Now”.  Bond highlights his contribution to the package: funding $2 billion for low-income housing.  But just last week, Bond told his constituents: “Hold on to your wallets,” as he bragged about voting against the bill because of “massive, irresponsible spending” by Democrats.

Similarly, South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham, who now says he’ll take the money because “You don’t want to be crazy here“, was critical about a  $75 billion slush fund for states.”  And while conservatives toss around …

Attorney General Holder: We’re “A Nation Of Cowards On Race”

holder_eric1

Good for him!  He’s already being beaten up by the right for saying it, Holder marked Black History Month by giving a speech to Justice Department employees, where he was critical of Americans on the race issue.

“Though this nation has proudly thought of itself as an ethnic melting pot, in things racial we have always been and continue to be, in too many ways, essentially a nation of cowards,” said Holder, nation’s first black attorney general.

Race issues continue to be a topic of political discussion, Holder said, but “we, as average Americans, simply do not talk …
