On Tuesday’s Radio Show…

Pork Problem: Republicans say the Senate’s on a “spending spree,” but why are some of the biggest critics also some of the biggest spenders?

• Can Barack Obama walk and chew gum at the same time? Alan responds to Republicans who say the president is trying to do too much at once.

Lastest Right-Wing Talking Point: Obama’s Doing Too Much

070313_cantor_small1

Can you imagine what they’d be saying if he were doing too little?  Congressman Eric Cantor of Virginia has found a unique way to criticize the president. He should be putting all his focus on the economy, says Cantor, and not diddling around with health care.

“At the end of the day, we are in an economic emergency. Economists are saying that there’s a 30 percent likelihood that we’re going to be in a depression,” Cantor said. “My goodness, we do have an emergency, and we oughta say, look, priority No. 1 is to create jobs.”

Chuck Norris May Run For President Of Texas

chuck_norris

He said it tongue-in-cheek.  But he went on to show that he is sympathetic to the idea of Texas seceding from the union.

That need may be a reality sooner than we think. If not me, someone someday may again be running for president of the Lone Star state, if the state of the union continues to turn into the enemy of the state.

From the East Coast to the “Left Coast,” America seems to be moving further and further from its founders’ vision and government.

Put Chuck Norris in the category of those who think the country is …

Michael Steele Now Getting Blasted By Joe The Plumber

joe-the-plumber-sad-ec

Paint not-Joe-the-non-licensed-plumber with the brush of Limbaugh Republicanism.  The overstayer of 15 minutes is now attacking Michael Steele for his hip-hop vision of the Republic Party.

At a meeting of conservative activists in Milwaukee, Mr. The Plumber had some tough words for the RNC chairman: “Unfortunately we have a chairman up there who wants to redefine conservatism; he wants to make it hip hop, put it in a new package and sell it.”

“You can’t sell principles; either you have them or you don’t,” he added, to applause from the audience of 800 people.

This latest sabotaging of

My (Not Yet Facebook) Friend (Update: New Facebook Friend) Meghan McCain

img-author-photo-meghan-mccain-_201210377527

Although Happily, she has yet to accept now accepted my Facebook friend request, [and] I highlight here Meghan McCain’s latest foray on The Daily Beast, this time renouncing Ann Coulter as the face of the Republican Party.  That is, says the daughter of the Republican Party’s latest presidential candidate, a recipe for disaster.  With David Frum putting Rush Limbaugh in proper perspective, here is another sane Republican voice.

…certain individuals continue to perpetuate negative stereotypes about Republicans. Especially Republican women. Who do I feel is the biggest culprit? Ann Coulter. I straight up don’t understand this woman or …

Bush Screwed Up Not Just The US, But The Entire World

ph2009030802301jpg

The dilapidated state of the United States economy is dragging the entire world into a recession, the first global recession since World War II.  The World Bank issued a report warning that what started in the United States threatens to turn back the clock on poverty reduction worldwide.

The World Bank also cautioned that the cost of helping poorer nations in crisis would exceed the current financial resources of multilateral lenders. Such aid could prove critical to political stability as concerns mount over unrest in poorer nations, particularly in Eastern Europe, generated by their sharp reversal of fortunes as …

The Limbaugh Problem: A Conservative Laments

david_frumjpg

The David Frum cover story in Newsweek, “Why Rush is Wrong,” begins with the names he is being called by conservative talk show host Mark Levin; names like “a-hole,” “jerk” and “putz.”  Of course, like Limbaugh, Levin is a talk show host whose job it is to entertain and get ratings.  Next, Frum offers his extensive conservative bona fides and paints a picture of the differences between Limbaugh, who wishes he were the head of the Republic Party (and Republicans refuse to renounce that notion) and Barack Obama, who is, by nature of his job, head of the Democratic …

World Peace: What A Concept!

fidel-castro

President Obama is easing trade and travel restrictions in an effort to extend an olive branch to Cuba.  Perhaps ending the four-decade-old embargo will be next.

The provisions are contained in a $410bn (£290bn) spending bill due to be voted on this week. The legislation would allow Americans with immediate family in Cuba to visit annually, instead of once every three years, and broaden the definition of immediate family. It would also drop a requirement that Havana pay cash in advance for US food imports.

The US isn’t alone in rethinking its Cuba policy.

Is The GOP Too Conservative For Arlen Specter? For Its Own Good?

specterjpg

Arlen Specter may have to leave the Republican Party to stay politically viable. The Pennsylvania Republican Senator faces a primary challenge from conservative former congressman Pat Toomey.  While Republicans in the Keystone State have moved to the right, 150,000 to 200,000 centrist Republicans have switched allegiances to the Democratic Party.  But, unlike the way things work in Connecticut, by law, Specter can’t run in a Republican primary and then become an independent if he loses. Thus, there is speculation that Specter could abandon the GOP sooner rather than later. Specter was a Democrat until 1965 when he ran for district …

Texas Senator Cornyn Pushes Petition In Support Of Limbaugh

200146_immig_cornyn_leavingjpgjpg

Continuing the ring-kissing, Texas Senator John Cornyn wants his fellow Republicans to sign a petition that says the Democratic attack on Rush Limbaugh is “an outrage.”

In his letter, Cornyn argues that President Obama’s staff “has been caught engaging in a coordinated and cynical political attack game – the very diversion and manipulation then-candidate Obama attacked the McCain campaign for last year.

“The apparent goal of this strategy was to distract public attention from the Democrats’ massive spending proposals by depicting Rush Limbaugh as the new face of the Republican Party….

“This is an outrage. It appears the …
