Obama To End Harmful Stem Cell Ban

embryonic-stem-cell-6660jpg

Above is an embryonic stem cell. It is not a person. It does not have consciousness.  It has no feelings. But it can help save lives and work toward cures for Parkinson’s disease, spinal injuries and Alzheimer’s.  And, on Monday President Obama will lift the 8 year ban that has stood in the way of scientific progress.

“This action is both welcome and overdue,” added Dr. Philip Pizzo, dean of the Stanford School of Medicine and a governing board member of the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine, in the statement. “This vote of confidence from President Obama in …

How We Appear To Other Countries

viewpreviewphp

Many conservatives and those with a narrow view of the world don’t really care how we look abroad, but seeing other evolved beings can be a reality check.  British PM Gordon Brown, having just visited the US, has some unkind words for California’s Proposition 8.  At a reception for LGBT leaders, Brown referred to Prop 8 as “unacceptable” and added,”This shows why we have always got to be vigilant, always got to fight homophobic behavior and any form of discrimination.”  Britain legalized same sex partnerships in 2005, and the Downing Street event was the first reception there for LGBT campaigners.…

How We’re Not Turning Communist

logo_communism

Four senior members of the Obama administration made some points to David Brooks of the New York Times defending against accusations that they have an agenda to move the country to the left by enacting liberal, big government strategies.  Here’s what they say:

  • In the first place, they do not see themselves as a group of liberal crusaders. They see themselves as pragmatists who inherited a government and an economy that have been thrown out of whack.

  • They’re trying to restore balance: nurture an economy so that productivity gains are shared by the middle class and correct the irresponsible habits …

Is Salt Better When It’s Christian?

    christiansalt-thumb-1jpg

Kosher food has its roots in the Bible and in the belief that certain animals are fine for consumption and others aren’t.  Now, a whole new way of making food religiously significant comes via Joe Godlewski (good name for a religious guy).  Godlewski is marketing “Blessed Christian Salt” on the net and in Christian bookstores.  This salt, meant to be a Christian version of kosher salt, is blessed by an Episcopal priest.

On a day of terrible job numbers, it’s refreshing to know that entrepreneurship lives, even if the product is based on a misconception about kosher food.

Obama is graying just six weeks into the job.

“The gray, it’s not a whole lot, but he has a few strands,” explained Zariff, the president’s Chicago barber for 17 years, who goes by a single name. “It’s quite normal for his age group.”

Wacko Jacko is backo.  Michael Jackson announced his “final curtain call” will be this summer in London. Farewell tours sell more tickets than tours that aren’t final.  Jackson could haul in between $10 million and …

    John Edwards: It’s My Baby

    61731

According to the National Enquirer, the publication that broke the story in the first place, former senator and vice presidential candidate John Edwards admitted to his wife, Elizabeth, that he is the father of Rielle Hunter’s baby. The Edwards confession is supposedly an attempt to stop the mother of the child from going public.  No one believed when his former campaign worker, Andrew Young, claimed to be the dad.

The ex-senator sprang into action when he saw how upset Rielle had become over Elizabeth’s forthcoming book, Resilience: Reflections on the Burdens and Gifts of Facing Life’s Adversities, which …

    verymininewlogo

Sandra Herold, the owner of Travis the chimp who mauled her good friend Charla Nash, has thus far avoided legal problems resulting from the tragic incident.  As Nash’s condition becomes more clear, should Herold have any legal exposure?
