Tax Code Meets Dress Code
My friend, the gifted and beautiful musical artist Britt Savage, has created a sensation with her dress made from shredded tax forms. True to her good nature, she has already rejected a thousand-dollar offer for the dress, and instead is offering it on eBay, with the proceeds going to Heifer International, a group that fights hunger in 57 countries.
It took a month to make it and I hope you like it. I mostly used the beautifully pink Child and Dependent Care 1040A forms plus some paler pink Individual tax forms. I cut the sheets in strips and wove them together for the center of the dress.
She destroyed two paper shredders (l) by shredding the bottom of the dress.
She said that “the bra part was the hardest. I nearly gave up a couple times trying to figure out how to assemble it”.
My drummer/husband (Wes Little) helped make me a sewing mannequin by wrapping me up in duct tape and cutting me out of it. We then stuffed it with foam and stuck it on a mic stand.Click here for reuse options!
