Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is frightened about what Arlen Specter’s move portends.

…McConnell denounced a “threat to the country,” saying: “There won’t automatically be an ability to restrain the excess that is typically associated with big majorities and single-party rule.”

And McConnell says the Democrats having 60 votes is dangerous because it brings single-party rule.  McConnell goes on and on about how bad this is for America and that it puts a dent in the theory of checks and balances and how the majority “can have whatever it wants, without restraint.”  Funny, I don’t recall McConnell upset when Republicans had all three branches of government.
