Barack Obama and Dick Cheney gave competing speeches on terrorism Thursday. It’s fun to listen to them side-by-side. We’ve whittled the substance down to 2 minutes and 15 seconds.
“So True and if they knew sll this from Clinton Administation why are they asleep at the wheel?”
You might want to ask Dubya and the Dick, as we were attacked on 9/11 on their watch.
“Are we suppose to applaud…and forget 911?”
How can we forget? We have the Dickster on his national fear mongering tour reminding us of that fateful day. All he needs as a sidekick is Rudy “9/11″ Giuliani.
The myth about Clinton not going after Bin Laden is one of the most common lies of the radical right talking points. It is ironic that they now want to ignore talking about prior administrations.
Bush and his administration came into power with a total disdain for anything that came from the Clinton people. All concerns expressed about Al Quida, terrorism, intelligence, and/or national security were swept away in an ignorant swoosh of ideological fanatism.
Cheney symbolizes the complete collapse of moral and ethical leadership due to the panicked administration. America was attacked twice on their watch…9/11 and the anthrax attacks…and they couldn’t catch either perpetrator…so, they attacked Iraq
Now, if all those nifty torture techniques worked so damn well, why did they stop them in 2005? Did we become less safe after they quit using them? If Guantanimo Bay and the Abu Garib incidents were separate the Abu Garib incidents only the work of a few bad apples, why are the techniques so similar? Why do the outside contractors appear in both places with both places having abuses? Remember, they “adjusted” Guantanimo procedures because some “went too far”. Why would you need a medic there if the torture techniques were safe?
Poor citizen Cheney keeps confessing to his own crimes. His torture rationalization tour will, unfortunate for him, lead to his own demise as a free person. If our government doesn’t prosecute the lawbreakers, some other nation will. Either way, we lost our honor beginning the day that Supreme Court was activist enough to put their man in the white house…..sad for America.

Failure of his policies, for which the majority of Americans approved, would constitute a failure of his administration.

WTC – February 26, 1993 Killed 6 … Injured 1,042
25 June 1996 Khobar Towers bombing Saudi Arabia
19 Americans one Saudi killed 372 injured
12 October, 2000 USS Cole 17 killed … 39 injured
August 7, 1998 Tanzania Kenya Embassy Bombings
Kenya 12 killed estimated 4000 injured
Tanzania 11 killed 85 injured
12 Americans in total killed
Combine these attacks with Clinton’s ineffective limited response and America showed its weakest which only served to emboldened the terrorist. Twice Clinton had Bin Laden in the crosshairs and didn’t have the balls to pull the trigger. Clinton cut defense spending three of the last four years he was in office. Add it all up equals 911.
The war cry from the Clinton Administration seemed to be “we don’t have actionable intelligence” … may-be a little water boarding would have changed that. After all desperate times call for desperate measures or so I’ve been told.

The GOP screamed “no war for Monica”, and felt that NOTHING was more important than investigating Whitwater, travelgate, and Socks the cat…in the midst of all this, they even wanted to shut down the government…..they could care less about terrorism.
Meanwhile, after warnings from the Philippines that the high jackers of the Air India flight wanted to fly a plane into the Eiffel Tower, closing the airspace over the G8 at Genoa, because of a possible attack from an aircraft, we got: “No one could have imagined using an aircraft as a missile”…..please!

Funny how Republicans brag about keeping us save for 7 years…
They totally ignore:
1-Being asleep at the wheel on 9/11 3000+ dead
2- War in Iraq based on lies WMD and false view of Islamic attitude toward democracy. WMD Not found so either he moved to a group that hates us or he never had it.
3-Either way land invasion was bad strategy without Turkish front or boarder control terror groups could prepare for our entrance and blow our young men up. 4-4100+DEAD 100,000 injured and 100,000 Iraq civilians killed.
5- 100,000 Christian refuges scattered.
6–Afghanistan ignored which are now paying the price for.
7-Iran stronger then ever…
8-Billion spent.
9-Army spread thin so world not safer
So you cannot bring up not being attacked in 7 years since we have lost 4100 soldiers in a wrong war. More then were lost on 911 and 1000,00 injured.
If he had WMD or did not move them you could brag.
If Islam was ripe for A TRUE REPRESENTATIVE democracy you may be able to brag but at best they will be ruled as an Islamic democracy/code which is not what Bush dreamed of..Turkey is 98% Muslim. Not a diverse open cultural representative society.
And you cannot brag about it without taking responsibility for 911 itself.
The world is not safer ….
Iraq is in conflict with no internal desire for true freedom all we did by knocking out Saddam was to set the door open for Civil War for years to come. And make Iran a possible super power.
Was it worth all the blood of American soldiers NO
So before you brag about keeping us safe bow your heads in a moment of silence for the many who died there. In a war for nothing…..
4100 DEAD 100.000 IS NOT KEEPING US SAFE…but putting out citizens in harms way…
IT IS FEEDING THE TERRORISTS EXACTLY WHAT THEY WANT OUR YOUNG SOLDIERS TO KILL.
