Video Teaching Children To Respect The Planet Called “Anti-Capitalist”

11stuff4650jpg

A 20-minute video about human consumption, The Story of Stuff, is a big hit in classrooms, and causing controversy.

The video was created by Annie Leonard (r), a former Greenpeace employee and an independent lecturer who paints a picture of how American habits result in forests being felled, mountaintops being destroyed, water being polluted and people and animals being poisoned. Ms. Leonard, who describes herself as an “unapologetic activist,” is also critical of corporations and the federal government, which she says spends too much on the military.

It’s been online since the end of 2007, but it’s now gathering …

Newt Compares “Bitter Partisan Attacks” On Bush To McCarthyism

s-gingrich-largejpg

On Fox News Sunday Newt Gingrich went full-bore at the Obama administration, accusing them of caring more about protecting terrorists than defending the country.

“You look at this administration,” he said. “You look at the Obama administration, the number of attorneys that have been appointed who were defending alleged terrorists. There’s this weird pattern where the Bush people wanted to defend Americans and were pretty tough on terrorists. These guys are prepared to take huge risks with Americans in order to defend terrorists.”

He compared the attempts to hold BushCo accountable for upholding the Constitution to McCarthyism.

“What we’re …

Who Would Pony Up For This?

luckovich_bush_library_500

Even in a bad economy, George W. Bush has been able to raise $100 million in 100 days for his presidential library.  Here is a sneak peak at the “George W. Bush Presidential Librarium,” courtesy of Goodnight Bush.

All hope is not lost. We at Origen & Golan Architects are proud to unveil the plans for the George W. Bush Presidential Librarium! Themed attractions provide more entertainment than a library, and more accurately represent Bush’s remarkable legacy-start by exploring The Stax, Supreme Food Court, Book BBQ, and the ever-popular Golden Parachutes.

Student At Christian School Told He’ll Be Suspened If He Goes To Prom

Tyler Frost, 17, a student at Heritage Christian School in northwest Ohio, wants to take his girlfriend to her public school prom at Findlay High School.  His principal, Tim England, says Frost signed a statement of cooperation at the beginning of the school year, agreeing to school rules. England says Frost will receive an “incomplete” on remaining assignments and won’t be permitted to attend graduation if he goes.  And if he has anything to do with sex or alcohol at the prom, he’ll be expelled.  The school forbids rock music, holding hands, dancing and kissing.

Frost followed rules by getting …

Why We Need To Accept Gitmo Detainees

051129_wilkerson_vsml_4avsmalljpg

Conservatives are up in arms about the possible release of Guantanamo detainees. You’d think, listening to them, you’re going to be brushing up against bin Laden at the local Starbucks while ordering your morning Iced Caramel Macchiato Venti. They’ve even gone so far as to try to pass the ridiculously named “Keep Terrorists Out of America Act,” and the even more ludicrous “No Welfare for Terrorists Act.” I’d like to propose the “No Stupid Names For Acts Act.”

But there is movement toward settling the issue of how detainees are to be handled, and there is …

It’s A Slow News Day…So Sue Me

Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus have written together for the first time in 15 years.  The song called “Story of a Heart” will be released July 6 as part of an album by the Benny Andersson Band.

Vocals on the track have been translated into English, and are sung by Swedish star Helen Sjöholm. As well as the Andersson/Ulvaeus song, ‘Story Of A Heart’ takes in Swedish folk music, polka, waltzes and Celtic folk.

So here’s a taste of Abba from the good old days.

Cheney Question

If The Vader says it’s time for the old guys to step aside, “clear the underbrush” as he put it,

It helps clear away some of the underbrush…some of the older folks who’ve been around a long time (like yours truly) need to move on, and make room for that young talent that’s coming along. But I think it’s basically healthy. I don’t spend a lot of time or lose a lot of sleep over it. I just think now is the time for people who are committed to get out there and find candidates they like and go to …
