Dijon-Gate

greypoupon-712070jpg

Conservatives have gone over the edge. They don’t know how to win elections, but they certainly know how to attack a Democratic president.  The fallout continues from the Obama/Biden Tuesday foray to Ray’s Hell Burger.  Wingnuttery prevails, as Obama is attacked for ordering his burger with DIJON MUSTARD! as one blogger blares; a condiment that must have been ordered, it is claimed, in consultation with John Kerry.

Obama also offended the Bama-bashers for leaving $5 in the tip jar.  Furthermore, MSNBC is accused of covering up dijon-gate by not covering the mustard order.  And there’s a pattern here, reports …

Cheney To GOP: Don’t Become More Moderate

2727248jpg

Never mind the warnings of Colin Powell, the centrism of Olympia Snow or the defection of Arlen Specter (who was told not to let the door hit him in a sensitive place on the way out).  Dick Cheney told radio talker Scott Hennen it would be wrong for Republicans to broaden the party’s tent. (Scott is on North Dakota’s WZFG, “The Flag”, which also carries my show).

“I think it would be a mistake for us to moderate,” Cheney said. “This is about fundamental beliefs and values and ideas … what the role of government should be in our society, …

Was Miss California USA Truthful About The Extent Of Her Semi-Nude Modeling?

carrie-prejean-3

I have no problem with modeling, nude or otherwise, as long we we’re all adults here.  The issue is the extent to which a beauty queen preaching “values” is familiar with the truth.  We already know she signed a statement stating there were no nude or semi-nude photos of her.  We also know her contract stated that she could not make commercials or speak on behalf of other groups with permission from pageant officials, and that she did not honor that part of her agreement.

And when a photo surfaced of Carrie Prejean semi-nude, she vowed it was the only …

Joe The Plumber To GOP: I Quit

joe-wurzelbacher_1010736c

Samuel Wurzelbacher, better known as Joe the Plumber, tells TIME he’s so outraged by GOP overspending, he’s quitting the party – and he’s the bull’s-eye of its target audience. But he also said he wouldn’t support any cuts in defense, Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid – which, along with debt payments, would put more than two-thirds of the budget off limits. It’s no coincidence that many Republicans who voted against the stimulus have claimed credit for stimulus projects in their district – or that Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal stopped ridiculing volcano-monitoring programs after a volcano erupted in Alaska. “We can’t …

My Critique Of A Government Sponsored Day Of Prayer Brings Out The Faithful

obamaprayerproclamation

As President Obama signs a proclamation declaring today a National Day of Prayer, (l) I expanded my post on the National Day of Prayer on the Fox Forum, aptly retitled, “Who Says the Presidency Requires Faith?“  I wonder how Jesus would feel about some of the responses it engendered.

Porn Star Challenging Lousiana Senator Vitter

Adult film star Stormy Daniels is looking to challenge “family values” Senator David Vitter, who is up for re-election in 2010.  Daniels told a crowed in a Baton Rouge restaurant not to Google her until they were in the privacy of their homes.  Daniels says she’s serious about this and not doing it as a publicity stunt, but that she lives primarily in Florida and would have to re-establish residency in her home state were she to run.

Daniels wants to get out of Iraq faster than currently planned, to replace the federal income tax with a national sales tax, …

Rush: “Colin Powell Is Just Another Liberal”

That’s what you get when you’re a Republican taking on the great Limbaugh.  The former secretary of state had the temerity to suggest the GOP is shrinking, and one if its problems is that people like Limbaugh and Sarah Palin are divisive.

He blasted radio commentator Rush Limbaugh, saying he does not believe that Limbaugh or conservative icon Ann Coulter serve the party well. He said the party lacks a “positive” spokesperson. “I think what Rush does as an entertainer diminishes the party and intrudes or inserts into our public life a kind of nastiness that we would be better …
