Lily likes the Mancow being waterboarded story. After saying waterboarding isn’t torture, radio host Mancow is waterboarded and declares, “It’s torture!” We can only wish this upon all others who downplay what “enhanced interrogation techniques actually are. Sorry, Lily, about the spam filter, but we check it as often as we can and can’t always predict why it keeps certain posts out.

Jonathan Landay and Warren Strobel at McClatchy went through the Cheney “Save My Legacy” speech at AEI and came up with “omissions, exaggeratons, and misstatements.” (h/t Hoffmania)
Cheney claimed that Director of National Intelligence, Adm. Dennis Blair, said that the information [obtained via torture] gave U.S. officials a “deeper understanding of the al Qaida organization that was attacking this country.”
In a statement April 21, however, Blair said the information “was valuable in some instances” but that “there is no way of knowing whether the same information could have been obtained through other means. The bottom line …

Shanoa Vlid lost her job because she refused to wear makeup, against the wishes of the new owners of the restaurant where she worked for five years.
Employers have the right to do this. A few years ago, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that it is not discrimination for employers to make women wear makeup. (Who are these judges? Maybelline stockholders?)
But just because it’s legal doesn’t make it right.

In 1964 Lyndon Johnson ran the famous (or infamous) “Daisy Ad” warning what would happen if Barry Goldwater had been elected. The ad showed a little girl peeling a daisy as the world blew up. It was widely regarded as fear mongering.
Fear mongering is, of course, right up the alley of the RNC. When Michael Steele said last week, “The time to fix or focus on the past has ended…Now is the hour to focus all of our energies on winning the future,” perhaps he meant that the way you do it is by focusing on the …

I’m beginning to worry that I might actually like George W. Bush if I got to know him. The more Cheney speaks, the sorrier I feel for the former president, who had the grace to say that President Obama deserves his silence. Even when speaking publicly, something Bush is doing rarely, he’s not using it as an opportunity to bash the new administration. Speaking at Artesia High School in New Mexico, Bush gave no interviews and forbade video cameras inside.
It was a humbling moment for the former commander in chief: President George W. Bush was walking former first …

Barack Obama and Dick Cheney gave competing speeches on terrorism Thursday. It’s fun to listen to them side-by-side. We’ve whittled the substance down to 2 minutes and 15 seconds.

Dick Cheney purposely schedule his American Enterprise Institute torture speech to begin the moment President Obama finished his. Can you imagine the reaction if Al Gore spoke had done the same thing in response to a Bush speech? Who’s wrong and who’s right isn’t the only question here? How appropriate is it for VP who just concluded his term to inject himself into the bloodstream as a new administration is taking hold? It’s certainly not customary.
In each venue, the speaker appeared pointedly aware of his adversary. Moments after Obama finished speaking, Cheney was introduced by an AEI official …

James Cromitie, David Williams, Onta Williams (pictured), and Laguesrre Payen are the four terror suspects who wanted to commit holy war against America by way of bombing two synagogues in the Riverdale section of New York. One of them remarked, “If Jews were killed in this attack…that would be alright.” The men are all from Newburgh, New York. That means we don’t have to go invade other countries that aren’t a real threat, when domestic terrorism is more real. Three or the men are American citizens and one is Haitian. That means they weren’t in training camps overseas; they were …
