Pelosi: BushCo Misled Me On Waterboarding

nancy-pelosi

Nancy Pelosi faced the cameras Thursday morning and said she was misled by the Bush administration on the waterboarding of detainees, and strongly rebutted claims she was an accomplice to torture.

“To the contrary … we were told explicitly that waterboarding was not being used,” she told reporters, referring to a formal CIA briefing she received in the fall of 2002.

Pelosi said she subsequently learned that other lawmakers were told several months later by the CIA about the use of waterboarding.

“I wasn’t briefed, I was informed that somebody else had been briefed about it,” she said.…

Clinton Hater Needs Favor From Hillary

Michael Savage, the extremist radio host who is on England’s banned list, is now asking for help from Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. He’s enlisted the Thomas More Law Center to write a letter that “respectfully demands” that she call on the UK to rescind the ban.  This is very interesting in light of the way he’s treated Secretary Clinton on his show.  Michael Hood at Blather Watch collected some of Savage’s bon mots.

Seems like only yesterday that Savage (KTTH m-f, 6-8p) was calling her “that hag, that harridan,” a “fraudulent huckster,” a “dangerous yokel,” a “liar,” a …

RNC Considers Giving Early Christmas Gift to Democrats

Roger Simon of Politico reports:

A member of the Republican National Committee told me Tuesday that when the RNC meets in an extraordinary special session next week, it will approve a resolution rebranding Democrats as the “Democrat Socialist Party.”

RNC member James Bopp, Jr. promoted the idea last month in an e-mail to the 168 voting members of the committee:

“The proposed resolution acknowledges that and calls upon the Democrats to be truthful and honest with the American people by renaming themselves the Democrat Socialist Party,” wrote Bopp, the Republican committeeman from Indiana. “Just as …

Miss California Pageant Director Resigns

omg

Shanna Moakler (below), has resigned as the director of the Miss California USA Pageant.

“I cannot with a clear conscience move forward supporting and promoting the Miss Universe Organization when I no longer believe in it, or the contracts I signed committing myself as a youth,” she continues. “I want to be a role model for young women with high hopes of pageantry, but now feel it more important to be a role model for my children. I am sorry and hope I have not let any young supporters down but wish them the best of luck in fulfilling …

Utah Attorney General Mistakenly Twitters His Candidacy For Senate

shurtlefftwitter

Utah Attorney General Bob Shurtleff thought we was sending a private text message about an upcoming official announcement.  Instead, he was Tweeting and didn’t know that he had publicly announced a 2010 run for Senator Bob Bennett’s seat.

Apparently thinking that he was sending a private text message, Shurtleff posted that he would be making an official announcement soon, and that he could raise significant amounts of money in Utah, California, New York, Arizona and Texas.

He added, “time to rock and roll!”

The Tweets have since been removed from his account.

You have to wonder what an …

Liz Cheney: “We’re Helping The Terrorists” (UPDATED)

On May 28, at least 44 photographs of supposed abusive interrogations will won’t be released.  Interrogation transcripts may also become available.

“This will constitute visual proof that, unlike the Bush administration’s claim, the abuse was not confined to Abu Ghraib and was not aberrational,” said Amrit Singh, an ACLU lawyer.

Of course the right wing is objecting, saying this will empower al Qaeda and hurt America’s image.  The former VP’s daughter, Liz Cheney, went so far as to say that the release of this information shows Obama is siding with the terrorists.

CHENEY: Clearly …

Sarah Palin Signs Deal To Write Memoir

palinbook

Brian Stelter at the NY Times has the story. HarperCollins is the pubhouse, and it’s due out in the spring.

“There’s been so much written about and spoken about in the mainstream media and in the anonymous blogosphere world, that this will be a wonderful, refreshing chance for me to get to tell my story, that a lot of people have asked about, unfiltered,” Ms. Palin told The A.P.

I can’t wait for the ensuing media circus.  And the chapter on Nicole Wallace.…
