Prejean: Racy Photos Taken When Wind Accidentally Blew My Way

carrie_3_full

At the Tuesday presser, the reprieved Miss California blamed the photographer for the topless photos that were just made public, saying it’s “appalling that a professional photographer would violate my trust by releasing an unauthorized and inappropriate image taken in-between posed shots, on a windy day, which I was unaware of.”

“I was actually standing on a cliff and it was very very windy,” Prejean explained, “and he had to have gotten some shot of me where I was exposed.”  When asked why she didn’t tell the pageant, as required, that she had posed semi-nude, she replied, “Do you remember what you …

Man In Video That Touched Off Hartford Morality Debate Dies

Angel Arce Torres, 79, was removed Monday from life support. One year ago he was left paralyzed and mute after a hit-and-run accident that was ignored by passers-by.  A surveillance camera caught the incident on tape on May 30, 2008, which led to a raging debate in Hartford about whether they were a morally sound community.

Torres was walking across Park Street when two wrong-way drivers raced into view. One zipped by Torres, while the second struck him, flipping him head over heels and leaving him twisted and motionless in the street.

Cars drove by without stopping as …

The Donald Says Carrie Keeps Crown

amd_miss_calijpg

Miss USA pageant owner Donald Trump says Carrie Prejean can keep her crown.

The 21-year-old Prejean failed to reveal before last month’s Miss USA pageant that she had posed in her underwear as a teenager.

Trump says the pageant has determined the photos are “fine.”

Does Trump know how to work it, or what?

UPDATE: I should have headined this: “Trump To Prejean: ‘YOU’RE NOT FIRED’!”…

Is It Only Funny To Conservatives When Democrats Are Targets?

david_fehertyjpg

Golf analyst David Feherty (r), in Dallas’ D magazine, told a joke in questionable taste.

“If you gave any U.S. soldier a gun with two bullets in it, and he found himself in an elevator with Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Osama Bin Laden, there’s a good chance that Nancy Pelosi would get shot twice, and Harry Reid and Bin Laden would be strangled to death.”

Feherty was writing, glowingly, about his new neighbor, Bush43, and how the military loves him even if Democrats don’t.  Feherty apologized to Reid and Pelosi for his joke.

“This passage was a …

Welcome Back, Joe

Joe Lieberman is beginning to sound like a Democrat.  He even says, “When it comes to Afghanistan, the Obama administration has put more resources into the fight against terrorism than had previously been the case.”  Lieberman says we’re not less safe and that we’re “as safe as we can possibly be.”  This sounds like Lieberman is now disagreeing with an administration he previously supported. Maybe there’ll be some nice committee assignments coming his way.

Another Republican Goes Wingnutty

Texas Republican Pete Sessions, Chair of the National Republican Congressional Committee, says Obama wants unemployment and stock numbers to be down.

In an interview, Mr. Sessions cited rising unemployment in asserting that the administration intended to “diminish employment and diminish stock prices” as part of a “divide and conquer” strategy to consolidate power.

Mr. Sessions, in his seventh term, said Mr. Obama’s agenda was “intended to inflict damage and hardship on the free enterprise system, if not to kill it.”

So, let me get this straight:  According to the Republican House leadership, Obama wants America to fail.  And …

Wanda Sykes Offends Delicate DC Ears

We go through this almost every year.  The bring in Don Imus and get all upset when he does material that some people find offensive.  They hire Stephen Colbert and are shocked when he does his act skewering the high and mighty.  Now they’re up in arms about Wanda Sykes, particularly her jokes about Rush Limbaugh being the 20th hijacker.

The White House is not pleased.

Conservatives whine that she didn’t knock the president as much as Colbert did when he was up and Bush was in power, so they’re not pleased either.  But let’s not forget that …

“Stressed Out” Soldier Kills Five In Iraq (UPDATED)

22520020preview

UPDATE: Contrary to earlier reports, the soldier did not kill himself but was overpowered and taken into U.S. custody.

————–

A US soldier described as being “stressed out” shot and killed five fellow soldiers at Camp Liberty in Iraq (r), before turning the gun on himself.

The toll was the highest for U.S. personnel in a single attack since April 10, when a suicide truck driver killed five American soldiers with a blast near a police headquarters in the northern city of Mosul.

The shooting occurred at 2pm Iraq time.  Three others were wounded during this incident.

The …

It’s The Diplomacy, Stupid

captb3373b80b9d94278abc536dcabc48a9airan_us_journalist__xhs102jpg

Roxana Saberi, the American journalist who was in jail in Iran for five months, charged with spying, has been freed by an appeals court, her eight-year prison sentence suspended.  We may never know for sure, but I’d like to believe a new tone of diplomacy toward Iran may have contributed to a positive resolution to this potentially disastrous situation.

Iran’s about-face clears a major snag in the Obama administration’s efforts to engage Iran in a dialogue after decades of shunning the country. Washington had called the charges against Saberi baseless and repeatedly demanded her release.

Saberi’s father was …
