von Brunn Associate: More Incidents If Obama Doesn’t Assuage White Fears
TV Newser desccribes the media tour of white separatist John de Nugent, a James von Brunn acquaintance, who explains his post-shooting media strategy as he talked about “white heritage safety zones”.
I am sure you are aware of the James von Brunn situation. At least I was able to turn some bad PR lemons into lemonade last night and yesterday, and I got to 1) explain how understandable white anger is, and 2) how Obama needs to assuage heightened white fears about gun and speech control or he will, by everything he does, provoke even more incidents.
I was interviewed at length by ABC Good Morning America, ABC Nightly News, the CBS Early Show, Fox News (Sheppard Smith Report), NBC Nightly News, the Washington Post, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Bloomberg, and Associated Press.
[...]
(Btw, the interview deal nowadays is the “great NY anchorperson” or reporter just stays put in New York and only a cameraman is there with me in a local studio. The reporter asks me questions from Jew York by speakerphone.)
von Brunn and de Nugent attended meetings together of the American Friends of the British National Party in Arlington County, Virginia. The BNP is a far-right whites-only party in the UK, whose American arm, since disbanded, raised money for its causes.

why are these idots labeled “far-right whites-only party”, if thats the case the label naacp the “far-left blacks-only party”.Just because your on the left doesn’t mean you can’t be a raceist or anti-semitic (rev.Wright)

Probably because they are far right and exlude anyone who is not white from membership. That would be my guess. And labeling them that way would be an acknowledge the fact that you can be far right and inclusive of races not an accusation that all far right ideology is racist. Although there does appear to be a trend.

Pathetic. Just pathetic.
You and all your conservative cronies are all ticked off because you know it’s true.
You have to bring up Rev. Wright, who has nothing to do with this at all, because you are desperate to try and obfuscate the issue.
The issue of the day is of right wing extremism being propagated and widely encouraged by a select few media elite who present themselves as beyond reproach.
“Just because your on the left doesn’t mean you can’t be a racist or anti-semitic”
Just because your on the right doesn’t mean you can bigoted against Muslims and gays.
You need to take a strong drink your medicine on this one.
Wright represents nobody but himself. He doesn’t speak Obama or for The Democratic Party.
When will your side realize that Bill O’Reilly, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity do not speak for you?

Hhhhhah, What statements has Jeremiah Wright made that prove to your satisfaction that he’s racist or anti-Semitic?
In his sermon ending with the now-famous soundbite, Wright remarks on mistreatment of native Americans and Japanese as well: pbs.org/moyers/journal/04252008/profile.html
Move the time forward (in Part I of the Wright profile) to 24 min, 19 sec into the program to see the sermon clip.

Lib,
This is so typical of the loud right. The out of context quote, repeated ad nauseum, and bingo. Everyone thinks (fill in the blank) is a total wack job.
It’s despicable really, dishonest and dirty pool.
All the usual suspects are guilty of this crap, Rush, Hannity, Beck, Huckabee, Cunningham, Levin, Savage, Coulter, and the rest.
It sucks that it seems so effective. The sheeple eagerly await the next dose.

I does suck that it is so effective. Had a conversation with someone I work with last week. He is a really intelligent guy who happens to be republican. We tease each other a lot about political views but are actually really good friends. He started going off about Obama saying we are a Muslim nation. I pointed out to him how that came from an obvious misinterpretation of what was really said and showed him the actual segment of the speech that it came from. His response was that he didn’t actually follow it that closely. That is a big problem in this country on all political sides. We as a population will just accept a statement from a commentator as factual without really looking up the facts for ourselves. The right just seems to be capitalizing on this a little more lately.

Placefield,
You will hear more from the right. After all we are the party out of power. That is what happens. The Dems were very boisterous during the time 1995-2008. Especially 2001-2008. They were out of the majority. American politics works that way. Now when the Republicans regain power, which they will in due time, the Democrats will take the mantal of being the boisterouse party.
American politics. Don’t ya love it.

If you want all an all White, pure society then go to Germany, I guess. Get out of the United States. I’m a Southern white boy (with a dose of Ukrainian) and I think we should be thoroughly mixed together!
We started out mostly white but we’re a mongrel in a good way. We’re a wonderful melting pot and that’s one of the main reasons we’re such a great nation.
And I don’t know if it’s considered racist or politically incorrect to be proud of white heritage, but I really don’t care. I’m proud to be an American.

Being proud of your white heritage is not inherently evil. Everybody should have pride in there heritage no matter what it is. Unfortunately racist wingnuts have taken over the phrase white pride and turned it into something I personally want to distance myself from as far as possible.

This is my general impression of all that I hear from conservatives.

This twisted, hateful philosophy is hideous, no matter who spouts it. What is interesting is that the press is eager to make grotesque media stars out of men like these two, as well as the one who murdered the abortion doctor. (I don’t even want to write their names.) The same press is silent about the Islamic convert who murdered the soldier at the recruitment office, silent about the alarming words that Obama’s spiritual mentor and father-substitue, J. Wright uttered just three days ago.

maryalice,
I can’t see that the press is silent about the violence coming from any of these right wing wackos including the religious nutjob who killed the recruiter.
As for Wright, there’s ample coverage of him as well.
Maybe it’s time for the right to stop the incendiary rhetoric, about Obama, with no concern for anything other than ratings, knowing full well they are inciting the unstable people out there, and get their own house in order…..decide whether or not they have any values, what they are, then work on a platform.
All they are doing now is getting people worked up, then spinning to deflect the inevitable blame. But hey, even that bring in ratings.
June 13th, 2009 at 4:07 am
OldLefty; I don’t think so. The mainstream press obviusly have not made the Islamic convert who murdered the soldier at the military recruitment office into the media character that they have made of the men who murdered the abortion doctor in the church and the guard in the Holocaust museum. Of course, they mention him, they must, but they go no further. Why?
As far as J. Wright is concerned, we would know virtually nothing about his angry opinions if it were not for what you lefties call the mean right-wing radio hosts. The mainstream press was forced into reporting a little about him simply because everyone was already aware of him. There is no disgust from the mainsteam press about Wright’s comments from earlier this week. These are the type of comments that were an integral part of Obama’s world for two decades. Again, why?
Does anyone seriously doubt the bias of these mainstream press people anymore?

maryalice,
From what I hear, and from the number of stories, the MSM which I believe is more corporate than anything, covered ALL of these right wing wackos from the doctor’s killing to the Islamic convert who murdered the soldier at the military recruitment office, to the guard in the Holocaust museum.
As a matter of fact, while CNN and MSNBC offered live coverage of a press conference held by a survivor of that shooting, Fox News did not, nor did it report later that day on the man’s remarks to the media.
You say, “The mainstream press was forced into reporting a little about Wright simply because everyone was already aware of him “…..I don’t think anyone thinks Wright is anymore important than Falwell or Hagee or Dobson, except those who are already predisposed to hate Obama. Plus anything I heard from Fox Cnn and MSNBC were 24 hour Rev Wight coverage, but little coverage of those on the right…..
Don’t forget Francis Schaffer called for the violent overthrow of the US government: “Every Sunday thousands of right wing white preachers following in his footsteps rail against America’s sins from tens of thousands of pulpits. They tell us that America is complicit in the “murder of the unborn,” has become “Sodom” by coddling gays, and that our public schools are sinful places full of evolutionists and sex educators hell-bent on corrupting children. They say, as Francis Schaffer often did, that we are, “under the judgment of God.” They call America evil and warn of immanent destruction.”, and he was invited to lunch with presidents Ford, Reagan and Bush, Sr.
There was also no disgust when Billy Graham’s similar comments about Jews came out……when he was talking to a sitting president, so spare me.
The left was screaming about pro Bush bias (until his approval ratings tanked).
You have nothing from the left to compare to “Muslim, terrorist, “bin Ladin better destroy America before Obama does” (Limbaugh,), Pouring gasoline, Obama should just shoot me in the head right now,” I’m thinking of killing Michael Moore,(Beck) “If federal agents come, you should take head shots” (G Gordon Liddy)….it goes on and on.
For me the question is, ‘Does anyone seriously doubt the violent hate mongering from conservative media??

Racism at it’s “finest”….
No matter your side of the political or religious spectrum, racism is the height and weight of true ignorance and arrogance in this country. Along with being overly-politically-correct, the two have the potential to drive a wedge straight down the middle between the American People. That cannot be allowed. I don’t give a damn if you’re a Liberal or a Republican. Racism is EVERYONE’S problem. The sooner the left AND right realize that, the better. Too bad it won’t happen…really sad actually.
