RIP Bob Bogle Of The Ventures
Bob Bogle was the co-founder and lead guitarist of one of the great instrumental bands of all time. When he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the rest of the band in 2008, the group was referred to as “the most successful instrumental combo in rock and roll history.” Among their hits were “Hawaii Five-O,” “Walk Don’t Run” and “Wipeout.” Bogle was 75.

From the Wiki:
“The Ventures are still the most popular American rock group in Japan, the world’s second largest record market. One oft-quoted statistic is that the Ventures outsold The Beatles 2-to-1 in Japan.”

Like you Alan, I am a baby boomer and a huge fan of sixties music. It just doesn’t get any better than that decade, with the possible exception of some seventies music. RIP, Mr. Bogle. And thanks for some of the best songs ever made.

Alan I sad to hear about the passing of Mr. Bogle of the Ventures and i am a major fan of 60,s music as well.

Steve,
Is there anyone better than The Beatles, Stones, Dave Clark 5, The Kinks, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Chicago, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, Aretha, The Supremes, Otis Redding, Eric Burdon & the Animals, The Temptations, The Four Tops and Al Green?

Better not forget the Beach Boys Southern Girl.
Rock-n-Roll’s greatest decade. Paul Revere and the Raiders, Sly and the Family Stone, The Monkees, Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show, The Doors, Lovin’ Spoonful, The Rascals, Steppenwolf, Tommy James and the Shondells, The Hollies, and on and on.
My all time favorite: Creedence Clearwater Revival.
May Bob Bogle rest in peace. May his family feels God’s comfort.

Willy,
We have that in common. My top three most favorite singer/songwriters are Paul McCartney, Brian Wilson, and John Fogerty. All three are still alive & kicking, and still cranking out great songs.

The 60’s does bring back many old memories. There we’re so many good groups, especially girl groups. Little Eva, Shangri-La. Nancy Sinatra, early Cher, Annette, etc. Yep, those Cry-Cra-Cryin songs.
The 60’s when Coke was just a soft drink.

The same here.I have to be in the mood to listen to Janis and the same with the Doors and Jefferson Airplane. Love The Velvet Underground and MC5,s along with Iggy Pop and the Stooges. Add some Funkadelic music in their as well.

I love old school Jefferson Airplane…
All this music is before my time, so I don’t have the emotional attachments to it that others may have, but I’ve never heard a Janis Joplin song that I really enjoyed.

Buck Owens ran the Crystal Palace, along the highway in Bakersfield, CA.
We went over for dinner one evening while we were there working. Owens made his way around the dining room saying hello to people. I thought that was pretty cool.

EPIPHANY, I was there in 1975 at Cobo Hall in Detroit when Bob Seger recorded “Silver Bullet Live”. I think that is what the album was called way back then. Anyway we got front row seats because my last name is the same as one of his band members. I won’t say which one. A very, very good time. Nine Tonight is good but have you ever heard Segers version of “Bo Diddle? CAUTION!! if you play it loud you must have good speakers. (it’s the only way to play it though :)

I know, trying to expose my girls to good music, and they are not interested unless the CD has a Disney picture on the cover. Ugg. By the way I prefer the early Fleetwood Mac, Peter Green era.
