Latest Michele Bachmann Insanity: Afraid To Take Part In Census
Expect much right-wing paranoia surrounding the upcoming census. So fearful is Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann that she is vowing not to complete the survey and give only the number of people in her household. Think Progress has the audio where she accuses ACORN, in advance, of committing fraud in the census-taking which has not yet happened, also saying the questions have become “very intricate, very personal.”
“I know for my family the only question we will be answering is how many people are in our home,” she said. “We won’t be answering any information beyond that, because the Constitution doesn’t require any information beyond that.”
On Bill Bennett’s radio show, Bachmann recently expressed fear that information collected would be misused by the Obama administration, saying, “Certainly the collection of this information is going to be part of an ongoing political campaign by this administration.” Did she ever hear of the Bush administration, the Patriot Act, and warrantless wiretapping?

“Hot for God” Michele Bachmann is STILL crazy after all these years. (Maybe it is time for her to fast again for 3 days with her husband and see if maybe it isn’t time to LEAVE congress and go on Fox news permanently).
From her rant about the Iranians having a secret plan to partion Iraq (Bachmannistan!) to her Babble to Chris Matthews that she thought journalists SHOULD investigate the Congress for OTHER anti-Americans like Obama…then she lied she said that and then fell back on her she was misunderstood. Just CRACKERS.

Right. And this administration’s rendition, detention of combatants, foreign prisons and enhanced torture.

K: Right. And they are really dismantling it by continuing it. Good strategy… Obama to the military – “Stop torturing – next year”.

as for Franken…though it may be hard to seperate Frankens satirical commments from those that he actually has…I’m sure if one were to log all the dumb*** things Franken has said over his life you’d have an astonishingly long list.
Franken as a comedian is hilarious, Franken as a serious Politician is scary.
and I really don’t understand Minnesota. Between Jessie the Body, Bachman and Franken…do they think elections are jokes?

Interesting suggestions by Furyus and Pino!
If followed, then all across Bachmann’s district and beyond to the rest of Minnesota, people would get to hear “the sound of one hand slapping”. (Not exactly a Zen Moment, but it might be satisfying all the same!)
SWACK! (That was the sound of me slapping myself for being such a corny smart-a##. OUCH!!)

“Mark Anthony Jacoby, hired by California G.O.P. to lead voter registration drive, pleads guilty to voter registration fraud.”
The fraud can cut both ways politically, but voter registration fraud doesn’t equate with voting fraud on election day.

from what I was hearing it was an issue with the actual guy registering at different addresses under his own name.
It didn’t sound like the organization was doing it, or having other people do it.

Michele Bachmann is correct in the fact that you only have to give the number of people living in your house. All the other questions is just government intrusion in your personal life.

Daddio,
“Not filling out the census form (as Bachmann is advocating) actually works AGAINST our community’s interests. We need all the funding for jobs centers, programs for the elderly and schoolchildren, the unemployed that we can get.”
That WOULD be in line with Bachmann’s style. She is on the finance committee and her district has the highest rate of real estate foreclosures in the state. This did not stop her and her husband from recently moving into a $1.2 million mansion on the 18th of Stoneridge recently. Not bad for someone who has only held government jobs: tax collector and congresscritter.

Not completely true. Certain families are selected to be in special groups and get asked a whole battery of questions not found on the normal census.
I am a fan of keeping the government out of areas that it doesn’t have business. I personally think the census is all well and good and serves a vital role but I also think that in a free nation we must make a thing completely and utterly voluntary.
Whatever consequence to the test and the standard of the Census are not the concern of a free republic of free peoples.
If your test doesn’t work anymore because you have to enact freedom and liberty, then your test is wrong. Not freedom and liberty.
—
I guess I agree with conservatives for once but keep in mind that they have picked up the Census as an ‘issue of the week’ and I’ve always said the Census should be fully voluntary. I didn’t flop around the issue like a fish out of water. I’m more or less always the same.
GuidoVanHorn Reply:

it’s not that the census itself should be voluntary (go ahead and count everyone even against their will) but the current census asks a lot of personal questions, not all of which i feel comfortable giving to an organization that also spies on me (thank you NSA)

I was sent the long census form in 2000. I refused to answer just about every question. But then I just tossed the whole thing in the garbage where I thought it belonged.
Well a few weeks later a census taker knocked on my door. Ask me about my form. I told her I threw it away. She proceeded to ask the very intrusive questions. I continued to tell her it was none of the governments business.
I did tell her how many live here. That was about it. I mean they want to know how many toilets we have, how much I earn yearly, what kind of foods I eat, do I smoke, what kind of car I drive, how many televisions I own, and many more questions they have no right to ask.

Alan said: Did she ever hear of the Bush administration, the Patriot Act, and warrantless wiretapping?
K: What have these things to do with the ever more intrusive Census?

K: “What have these things to do with the ever more intrusive Census?”
TD: It seems you and bats**t crazy Bachmann have something in common. You hate the census (under Obama) but love to be wiretapped and scrutinized by the government (under Bush).

Good point. When a Republican does something, it’s all dandy and great with every conservative on the planet. But when a Democrat does the same thing, or a similiar thing, it’s a tragedy on freedom and justice.
I think the left is showing itself to be LEAGUES above the right in America today.
We have been balanced in these months of Obama … we have called out the lies and partisanship of the other side.
We have brought our complaints of Obama policy and remain respectful of the office of teh presidency in the process.
Then you look at the right …. OH MY GOD!!!
They are all partisans who LIE about the PRESIDENT of the United States!
They are all supporting violence and hatred of Americans who dare to disagree with the King of All Values (whoever, doesn’t even matter what white-Christian Republican you buy into).
The ‘Birthers’ reject all evidence. The Bush supporters pretend he never existed in the first place. The very representatives of the Republican Party have no backbone against the extremists on the radio and the internet.
It’s pretty bad.
One side is trying to be sane and logical. And the other is clawing at the pant leg of the President while making a little mess on the back porch.
Seriously! What is wrong with right wingers these days!?!
I’m at a loss. Were they always this insane and Obama winning the White House just made them snap?
It must be false.
It must be a show they put on to get votes, ratings and attention.
June 18th, 2009 at 1:17 pm
painting someone’s house so the government can have them dialed in on governmnet GPS is not necessary. It is so outrageous that the story has been picked up and scrutinized by the canadian free press.
June 18th, 2009 at 2:52 pm
Since I’m such a civil liberties nuts and so dedicated to individual freedoms I have to say that I think the Census should be completely voluntary. 100% ability to opt-out and not even tell them how many people live in your house. Not a peep out of you, just burn the thing when it comes in the mail and you’d face no consequence. That’s what I’d like.
But honestly some of this crud about Obama and the coming Census is totally outragous lies.
“accuses ACORN, in advance, of committing fraud in the census-taking which has not yet happened”
Good Lord! Do conservatives have no ability to deal in reality?
ACORN has done more good for the country than all the right wing haters on the radio ever could hope to. Did more in a day to help democracy be rightly enacted and brought to all people and then an idiot comes along and lies about them and now every moronic numbskull in the universe believes all kinds of BS about ACORN without even looking beyond the end of their own nose.
Bachmann brought up ACORN because she knows that just saying it makes a neo-con somehow pull off his shirt and start screaming about nothing at all but quite passionately. It doesn’t even matter what the facts are … one the GOP has demonized a group you can just mention the name and a few people will stand and start screaming like unamerican GOP shills. It’s a guarantee.

the census is a constitutional mandate. Keeping an accurate count of the people every decade allows for appropriate alottment of representatives, completely opting out shouldn’t be an option. However the current census asks a lot of personal questions, not germaine to the original intent of the census.

Michele is an attractive woman. But if you’ve ever watched her on TV, look into her eyes. There’s nothing there. Looking into her eyes is like looking into an empty box, a void. Her vessel is empty.
The photo Colmes picked is kind of a turn-off though, unless the chipmunk look is a turn-on for you in which case … different strokes for different folks.
