Limbaugh Says He’ll Send Sotomayor And Her Club “A Bunch Of Vacuum Cleaners”

Because Sonia Sotomayor is a member of a women’s group, it must be a gathering of domestic helpers, according to Rush Limbaugh. The comment, “I think I’m going to send Sotomayor, and her club, a bunch of vacuum cleaners to help them clean up after their meetings,” is followed by a self-satisfied smile.
Did I ever hear Mr. Limbaugh or any other conservative mock the highly successful men who are members of the Bohemian Grove, the male-only group upon which Sotomayor’s group is based?

One question Alan. Why do you think would Ms. Sotomayor who did say, “I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life,” remember that one? I wonder since she is a member of the Belizean Grove which you say is based on the Bohemian Grove why she would join a group that has based its self on a group started by bunch of white males? I would think that she could reach a better conclusion, don’t you? Besides, maybe they do need some vacuum cleaners?

Was she raised poor? I hadn’t heard anything about her economic history – being Latina does not equal poor (I’m not saying you think that, I am certain you do not – I’m just commenting that her comments say nothing about her economic background).

After I typed that, I looked up her background – I read she was raised in a tenement, and it sounds like she had a great mom who emphasized education.
I think she’d make a great DA, an excellent neighbor, fantastic role model, etc..
But I’m hoping for a miracle and that she will not be confirmed as a Supreme Court Justice.
She will be a disaster for civil liberties.

We ARE pacifists, but we’re not perfect. When we have people like you or Jared trashing us on a daily basis (well maybe not you as much as Jared), we prefer to verbally express our displeasure rather than act on it.
You’d be safer in a room full of liberals than in a room full of conservatives. We may talk a big game (eg. “I’d like to kick Rush’s ass”), but unlike conservatives, we rarely act on it.

Ah, you see, I think this is the problem on both sides. I think “Sound-byte Logic” drives the Republicans these days but it’s never, ever, been something isolated into one group or another.

Epiphany, Rush is an entertainer and part of why he says stuff like the vacuum cleaner statement is to piss liberals off.
And it works. You all get aggravated and wonder why he’s so successful. He’s a brilliant entertainer, commentator, and comedian. Second of all, a lot of what he says has a lot of truth to it. Of course he spins things. Of course he says things that are half-truths. Alan, in my opinion, does the same thing. But it’s politics. There’s a lot of spin, opinion, and “shading” the truth.
I don’t believe Rush is sexist but I think he says insensitive stuff that gets the media and libs to think that. He has a TON of conservative female listeners. If he truly were sexist, he wouldn’t have the huge audience he has. And when he used the term feminazis, he went overboard but was only talking about CERTAIN feminists, not all of them. Again, if he was anti-woman, he couldn’t hold an audience of the millions of conservative women he holds.
I don’t listen to him much anymore, but I used to a few years ago.
