Whoops!

Greg Sargent has the details of the RNC’s latest gaffe:

Earlier today, the Republican National Committee blasted out to reporters a research document with a link to an article in USA Today reporting that much of the stimulus package’s construction money will be spent in the districts of well-connected lawmakers.

The RNC document cited the piece to argue that the stimulus cash is nothing but pork and isn’t going where it’s needed. “Where Are The Jobs?” the document demanded. “Where Is The Money? Why All The Pork?”

But there’s only one problem: If you click through the link provided by the RNC to the article itself, you find that it actually targets a Republican Senator, Thad Cochran of Mississippi, as a primary recipient of this pork.

  1. The Republicans have been proving over and over they are a gang that cannot shoot straight. Unfortunately the bullets are hitting us instead each other.

  2. I also read the article. Nice try on the spin. FAIL

  3. And this on top of the fact that Mississippi gets more federal welfare than any state except New Mexico: something like two bucks back from the US treasury for every dollar the state pays in taxes.

Yo Texas, take Mississippi with you when you secede.

Yeah, if you think healthcare is expensive now,, wait until it’s free.

Yeah. You know – like the politicians have.

    We can dream.

    That sure would be sweet.

IF you think your healthcare is going to be like what the politicians have you really are duped.

No, I don’t think the healthcarewill be as good as the politicians get – if we get it at all.

After all, as long as they have THEIR socialized healthcare, why should they care about us?

California got the most federal welfare of any state, not Mississippi.

K: Hey, would you please just not mess up a perfectly crafted spin? Its irritating to the spinners… ;-)

K: Alan, you are majoring in minor points again. Surely such is beneath you? Guess not…

  5. Repub or Dem Pork is Pork and one US senator from either side of the aisle is allowed to have some indignation over the issue.

This just gives me hope that more politicians will be able to stand up to their parties and serve by the dictates of their own conscience.

  6. I read the article and it targets the states with lawmakers on the appropriations committee.

It also mentioned Rep. Ed Pastor, (D) of Arizona and North Dakots Sen. Byron Dorgan who heads the Senate Appropriations subcommittee.

Yes. But it doesn’t say a democrat’s crying, “Where Are The Jobs?” Where Is The Money? Why All The Pork?”

  7. Mr. Mccain- you are not president;
Yet, Fox news continues an elusive coronation.
