I almost can’t stand to listen to the stupid debate over private health insurance anymore. It should be a no-brainer but people are still arguing about it.
If you’re in a group plan, you’re only expectation of decent continuing coverage is sheltered by state insurance regulations put in place to protect “us”. You aren’t sheltered by your insurance provider as much as you’re already protected by our government.
If you’re in an individual plan, you’re on your own and completely at the mercy of the insurance companies. With any medical history at all, including simple things like a cold or “jock itch”, you’ll be uninsurable. If you somehow slip into health coverage with any medical history, the insurance company will use their handy “rescission” tool to deny you payment if you ever make a claim. This is a win-win for the insurer because they’ve not only cashed your checks for years but on the first sign of a claim they can deny it and put you on the street.
It’s funny to hear the wingnut argument against government sponsored insurance because (1) government can’t get anything right and insurance isn’t any different and (2) government sponsored insurance will be too good a deal to turn down, drawing us all into it and putting the privates out of business. It’s a nonsense argument.
The argument is not over healthcare. It’s over health insurance. The two are two different things.
The world is insane. We’ve all lost our minds. Well, most of you have anyway but I’m still fine.

Tell me about it. And it is not just us that suffer but also the doctors. I personally know two general practitioners who had to close there doors for the simple fact that they could not afford to keep the staff needed just to insure that they got payed by the insurance companies. They both also expressed frustration that they got there MD to practice medicine but instead they had to spend most of there day playing insurance company games.

Quite different story here Placefield. Doctors here are dead set against government run national health care.
Question–When has the government taken control of something and NOT had many strings attached? Obama has already put in his plan penalties for those who do not carry health care and opt out of his national health care. What kind of penalties and regulations will doctors have?
Government has had a hand in the out of control health care costs. It is called Medicare and Medicaid. For to many years they have paid medical bills for seniors without even a wimper or question of how much they were being charged for procedures or equipment.
Health care costs need to be brought under control but a national plan will not do that. Every national plan has health care rationing, meaning if the government thinks the procedure is to costly and the patient who may be elderly or has a terminal disease, then the rationing board will deny treatment. After all the patient is to old and they do not have much longer to live so why waste the money. That is where the government saves money.

Don’t confuse doctors with insurance companies.
From Medscape Medical News
Physicians Increasingly Support a Single-Payer National Health Insurance System
Also:
New research by the Indiana University School of Medicine shows that 59 percent of doctors support legislation to establish a national health insurance system, up from 49 percent in 2002. Only 32 percent of doctors said they were opposed.

Why is it some comments don’t post here? Sure is annoying.
Anyway, most rank and file doctors do not want a national health care run by Uncle Sam.
They must be polling doctors in the major cities. Only way they get figures like that.

Daddio,
Some words won’t post, (yet they do for others?)
I must ALWAYS write “conv1nce or V1ncent” because the correct spelling will NOT go through.
Also, try your post in parts, to rule out the problem….sort like a test run.

Thanks Lefty. I’m not sure what word or words I could change. But thank you for the info.
I always wondered why some here used the 1 in certain words. I guess now I know. :)

Daddio,
I get your point. I am in a bit of a quandary about this myself. I absolutely believe that having a public option at the very least is the correct course of action. At the same time I don’t have a tremendous amount of faith in our representatives to do it correctly and not screw it all up. Time will tell I guess.

“Health care costs need to be brought under control but a national plan will not do that”
I am the guy most conservatives want to talk to when we debate healthcare because I think SOME conservatives have excellent points on this issue and bring up the issues that many liberals fail to address.
I disagree with what you said here. I think the only way we can lower heathcare costs is to have some sort of national plan.
What is your solution?
I am curious.
We are all in a agreement that something must be done. Only the insurance companies want to do nothing at all.
So what do we do? I want a solution to fit with these valid and often very intelligent disagreements from conservatives and Republicans.
If I can see a solid, viable option produced other than single-payer or a massive national program coming into existence, I’d really like to hear it.

The private health insurers are really no different than Wall Street.
They’d gladly leave the USA in ruins in exchange for their own enrichment, if they could only reserve a comfortable, small spot in one corner for themselves.
I can’t believe anyone can defend either of them with a straight face.

They are paid off. That’s why they have a straight face. They just counted their money and it looked real good.

Everyone thinks the Jews run the world but it’s really the Lutherans.
How else do you explain Garrison Keillor still being on the radio if the Lutherans weren’t really running the media? Huh? Sure, he’s funny but Brad Pitt he ain’t.
Return America to native Americans. “White Christian America” should pack their bags and plan a trip back to Europe.

The question is when are YOU going to move, Daddio. After all it’s you that’s finding fault with everything Obama does. BTW, don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.
Bon voyage.

Why does an anti-Semite call a Jewish radio host? That’s how nice you are, Alan…Jew haters call you up and you let them talk. Hilarious.
Are you planning to move to Madagascar? I wonder why he didn’t say “Antarctica”?

“Why are there progressives?”
Someone has to move us past these days of racism, bigotry and intolerance. The conservatives are only making things worse by the day and sending us backwards to Jim Crowe except applied to Muslims and gays.
That’s why.
Bill O’Reilly is right about ONE thing:
There is a ‘culture war’ in this country.
Fascists versus Americans.
I really don’t care what side you call which, only that you recognize that we are at conflict.

Daddio…” Why are there progressives’?
Very interesting question. Lately I hear more and more about Mr & Mrs “Progressive”.
I am also checking into the Collectivist idea. Some say the Holocaust Museum shooter was and is a collectivist? Meaning to the left, that he’s one of yours, and isn’t one of ours.
All in all I’ve come to believe Right Wing – Left Wing…if you could ask the dead they will tell you: ‘ there is NO differance’.

Colmes’s wingnut callers think O’s single-payer health insurance will be an “entitlement” requiring tax increases or “printing money”?
NO!! You’ll still pay a “premium” but the check will go to Uncle Sam instead of BCBS. It’ll be less than what you’re now writing to BCBS without all the nonsense the privates require to pad their bottom line.

yea … I have this same question.
It takes a certain degree of crazy to be in the state we see many conservatives in these days.
Rabid dogs drooling have evoked more respect from me than some of these partisans.

The weirdness at a new … low.
I could do better than this strange fellow calling to predict the future of Republicans and really he has just read a few too many fantasy fiction books and is getting his ‘oracle’ on.
Well I actually create the fiction stories that he is trying to copy, of course none you go buy or anything like that.
And I’d like to say that his crystal ball is cracked and mine is connected to Galactic Core, or ‘The Source’ if you perfer, and I’m not telling.
