  1. Sad, sad sad

  2. People are dropping like flies.
I wonder if they will play “Another one bites the dust”

  3. I’m bored with this story already. Damn – there goes the weekend.

  4. Well, let’s gear up for the MSM’s reports on his life and times, controversies, etc. Let’s also prepare for the rude and apathetic jokes that will be offered up by the tasteless.

    Cheryl,

It is sad when anybody dies, and since Jackson is such a high profile person, his death should be covered by the news media. My fear, which I’m sure many Americans share whether they are comfortable saying so or not, is that the media will now ignore every other important story (Iran, the debate over health care, etc.) because talking about Jackson will get them high ratings. In other words, the media will use Jackson’s death to line their pocketbooks at the expense of the American public.

Actually Mark Sanford should thank his lucky stars so many famous people are dying because it does kind of preempt his Lengthy Licentious Latin Love Luau.

It’s too sad that Michael Jackson had to die in order to divert attentions from other news. My heart goes out to his family, friends and fans.

  5. I tend to think the people surrounding him were the predators, not Michael. People love to see someone up high taken down especially when money can be made by doing so. The first boy he allegedly molested, his parents settled for 15-20 million. The second, the boy and his mother’s testimony came apart at the seams in court. People want to believe he’s a molester because he was a very strange, over-the-top eccentric person and artist who could be awfully foolish sometimes. He was different all right, with a lot of inner turmoil and that makes people very nervous. It invites contempt.

Anyway, I’m not going to debate anyone about this as I’m certainly not about to change anyone’s mind, lol. You can think what you want; that’s the way I feel about it.

He was truly a musical genius, a top notch entertainer and innovator, splendid dancer and did a lot of good for people. He will be forever missed, no matter what the vultures say. I hope he is finally at peace now.

    RIP Michael.

Epiphany, I don’t necessarily think Jackson was a pedophile. I may be naive, but I somewhat believe him when he said that having young boys in bed with him was innocent.

Now, I think he is a hardcore wacko and out of touch with reality for believing that is okay behavior, but not a sexual predator just because he’s accused of it. But I do think “eccentric” is a bit of an understatement. Disturbed may be too harsh, but I don’t know.

BUT, if I had kids, would I let them get near him? Hell no.

He was a genius. I think he is arguably the greatest pop star of all time and some people say he was the most famous person on the planet.

flapper- where is epiphanys post? is she using a dif handle?

i feel that mj lived most of his life without love… familial love, affection, etc. i dont believe he molested anyone. i DO believe that he was always in search of PLATONIC n FAMILIAL affection. especially w a father like joe frakin jackson. mj needed 2be loved, he needed 2 accept his skin (no pun intended… not really) n just love himself. that was a life long struggle 4 him.

CherylCarroll, Epiphany’s post is the one above that begins with the sentence, “I tend to think the people surrounding him were the predators, not Michael.”

I think I can remember at least a couple of those kind of moments growing up myself…

  9. It is ironic that a soul so capable of giving such tremendous creativity, compassion & joy to the world lived his later years of life in such a state of confusion and darkness. I am grateful for what he gave..for his willingness to share what was universally good through his lyrics & incredible music. Life truly is a dance..& he was a master at it!
Maybe we collectively never should have demanded more of him than that.
It is time to forgive whatever he did or did not do & wish him eternal joy.
    Love to you always, Michael!

  10. Love him or hate him,the man will go down history as 1 of greatest icons in American History as music history as well.

To be honest,I am not a fan of pop music. However the Jackson 5 was a staple for my early teenage years. The Hanna Montana,s of the late 60,s early 70,s.

I did care much for his bizzare nature, but the man was at the top doing the 80,s and became no.1 in the music world with hits after hits.

May the man rest in peace and he will be remember as 1 of our nations greatest icons. ABC,EASY AS 123,SIMPLE AS DO RA ME,ABC ,123 BABY YOU AND ME NOW.

With you there Steve. I really liked the music of the Jackson Five. Not much into Michael’s solo career though. He was truly an icon of the mucic industry. Probably in the top five as far as influence in the pop music revolution.

Tears came to my eyes when MSNBC played ABC by the Jackson 5. It ripped right through me and my emotions came out.

I sang that song all the time in my youth. I am jealous of the Jackson 5 as well. I could never grow those Jackson 5,Jimi Hendrix,Sly Stone afros and i paid for it in spades from the girls. Stvie you can,t grow a fro. Hahahahehahe……..

    Daddio Reply:

    I didn’t see that Steve.

Hey, I feel for you guy about your youth. To give you grief because you couldn’t grow a fro. Kids can be cruel. I went for the over the shoulder look back then. A little to curly for me but what to do. I remember seeing some pretty big afros back in the day though. :)

I really need to go and pick up a Jackson Five greatest hits cd. Been putting that off now for a few years.

Hey, I gotta scadaddle for now Steve. Talk to ya later. Have a good morning.

  11. As my youngest daughter (33) and I spoke last evening about Michael and his music I came to realize that he truly transcended generates as few artists have. Thanks for the memories, Michael, and rest in peace always.

Very well stated. He is not my favorite artist as well, but the man transcended music. He dethrone the Stones in the 80,s and i love the Stones. The man became a icon.

Elvis,James Brown,Dylan,Chuck Berry The Stones,Beatles The Queen of Soul. He ranks right with them in my eyes.

He took pop music to another level and made top 40 music extremly hip. He help make bubble gum music fun with the Jackson 5.
