  1. I’d really like to know how large the pornography sector of the economy is–because the only way it could have survived the endless assaults by the endless hordes of puritanical “christians” is if it’s absolutely HUGE.

Because corporate profits trump religion every time.

  2. Let’s go for universal health care. 60 seats.

    Yes we can.

    placefield Reply:

We have 60 seats, but do we have 60 seats with enough scruples to ignore the lobbyist money? I am sure the insurance companies have at least a few of them in there pocket books.

    Yes he can and should

You mean their are still lobbyists in government?

I thought corruption had ceased with the New America. Silly me.

    Daddio Reply:

There are no more lobbyist RDM. Just like there are no more deficits or debt. And no more tax hikes on 95% of American workers. And the oceans have ceased to rise and the air is cleaner. Oh, and the era of earmarks is over also. And the government will not run banks, insurance companies, and private industry.

This is “change we can believe in” and “yes we can”.

Well, even though the Republicans are doing everything they can to eliminate themselves from elected positions, as of now some still remain in government.

Wouldn’t that violate the constitutional rights of the uninsured to die young from lack of proper health care?

Why do you hate the constitution, James?!?!

    average james Reply:

Cause I’m just a commie, pinko, fag loving, free thinking, peacemonger.

You know, the kind person that hates america. He he he

Where does the constitution guarnatee health insurance????

I wanna see statistics for all the young uninsured people who died last year from lack of proper health care.

Placefield just hammed the nail right into the plank.

The insurance companies do not want this to pass without their involvement and as powerful as they are I see no rational way of thinking that would preclude them from mucking around in the Congressional process.

I’m afraid you’re right Eric and Placefield,

    It’s a cryin’ shame.

    Daddio Reply:

Insurance companies like the NRA are a mouthpiece for citizens who have no access to our Congressmen. Why so you wish to silence the voices of American citizens? Why do you wish to silence the voices of those who oppose national health care?

    GuidoVanHorn Reply:

everybody has access to their congresspersons (see how pc I am) each of them even has their own website, e-mail, phone number, fax, mailing address (though all mails gets irradiated due to the anthrax scare)

Lobbying groups have their place, however they’ve overrun the political process I’m afraid.

    placefield Reply:

Insurance companies are the mouthpiece for the insurance companies. I don’t wish to silence anybodies voice. I just don’t want the dominant voice to be representing the money of a few. Lobbyists are not inherently evil. I have donated money to lobbyist groups before. The real grass roots kind. Unfortunately they probably had a real hard time getting their voices heard over the deep pocket books.

How are the rights of the minority party protected in Congress?

    GuidoVanHorn Reply:

what rights does the minority party have to begin with? or the majority party for that matter.

The congress isn’t a place where rights of its members are protected, it’s a place where we create legislation.

filibusters…cloture…reconciliation these are made up rules of decorum. The truth is there should be comment period then a vote on all laws presented to the congress, and shouldn’t get more complicated than that.

    Daddio Reply:

I stand corrected Guido. Man, that is the second time in two days you have corrected me. Anyway, thanks again. I am glad you are watching my posts and correcting me when needed. But I digress.

You’re right. Congress is the place where legislation is created. Albeit to much legislation.

The minority has no filibuster now. They can’t force cloture unless they get one Dem. Reconciliation is consistently snubbed by Pelosi and the many rules changes put in by Pelosi and the Dems.

The just passed Cap and Trade bill in the House had over 300 pages attached to it by the Dems. and passed down to the full House at 2:45 in the morning when a vote on the issue was to happen that same day. Not enough time to read the attachments and debate them.

So I ask once again, but I will word the question differently.

Where is the minority party’s protections when the majority can change the rules at a whim and not allow the minority to even read and debate a bill? We have a one party rule in Washington. Didn’t work with Republicans. Dems condemned it then. They praise it now. How is it working any better now?

  4. Oh, I’m so sorry Alan…

These crazy people keep calling you and every time they get a little more hateful and a little more crazy…

  5. Deuteronomy 22:22 “If a man is found sleeping with another man’s wife, both the man who slept with her and the woman must die.”

Leviticus 20:10 “If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife–with the wife of his neighbor–both the adulterer and the adulteress must be put to death.”

    Stone ‘em!! Stone ‘em!!

Not only is the Bible flexible, but we can also pick which one of the Bibles we’d like to “interpret” – to suit the occasion.

Perhaps Sanford is a closet Mormon and only got a little confused while he was shopping around for spare wives. Wives/women may be like potato chips to Sanford, you can’t stop at just one.

So very true. I was scratch my head dealing with ‘absolutists’ in regards to scripture.

There’s a whole bunch of stuff that didn’t even make it into that thing we call ‘The Bible’ today.

It blows my mind how some people who hold such strong beliefs do not actually know anything about the topic.

  6. Your 11:28 CDT caller …

    He’s a “redneck”.

    Or sometimes, a “cracker”.

Your Southern callers ALWAYS manage to stay in character.

Sittin’ in his underwear in a lawn chair under the carport next to his trailer, burning ticks off his Redbone coonhound with a lit cigarette while he admires the new 36-inch Gumbo Monster Mudders and stripper-girl mudflaps on his ‘78 Chevy 4×4.

  7. Your 11:49CDT caller: “hey, Joo boy!!”

He was from Arkansas. I can tell.

Your 11:51 CDT truck driver caller: “I can smoke pot all day and drive fine”.

He’s from Kentucky. I can tell.

Why doesn’t Colmes ever take calls from normal Americans from places like Minnesota or Wisconsin?
