Sanford Says He Didn’t Tell The Truth When He Said He Was Telling Us The Truth
South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford now says there were more trysts with his Argentine lover than he previously disclosed.
In a lengthy, emotional interview with The Associated Press, the governor described seven meetings with the woman, including their first in 2001. Sanford says there have been five over a 12-month period, including two multi-night stays with her in New York.
It was the first disclosure of any get-togethers with her in the United States and contradicted a public confession last week during which he admitted to a total of four encounters in the past year.
Sanford, who made a big deal about not taking stimulus money because he’s such a good guardian of the state’s finances, now says he’ll pay back the state for a 2008 trip to Brazil and Argentina taken on the government dime. He says no other liaison used government money.

And that’s the truth.

Alan, what is the point of this post – that Sanford didn’t originally list an additional meeting with this woman?
June 30th, 2009 at 12:48 pm
He sure does lie a lot. Is that what it means to be a conservative? He’s lied how many times in the last couple of weeks? 20? 30?

It doesn’t matter that he’s a liar. As Ann Coulter said last evening on Alan’s show, Mr. Sanford is a sinner. And conservative sinners are allowed to repent and the public is obligated to forgive them.

True! Very true, according to God. Just not according to our culture.
I’m really not interested in ideological battles (i.e. conservatives are jerks, liberals are hippies). However, it is interesting to note that our culture treats the sins of conservatives different from those of liberals. I’m sure that you and Mr. Daddio are much more likely to forgive Sanford and believe in his ability to keep on servin’ the public than you are for Edwards, Spitzer, or Clinton. Why? Because they’re conservative and/or Repubs and therefore God-fearing individuals truly worthy of forgiveness and a second chance?
It’s a disgusting hypocrisy. That’s all I have to say on the subject, but knock yourselves out proving me wrong, boys.

I believe every living soul diserves forgivness if they seek it from their heart and take it before God. It doesn’t matter if they are liberal/conservative, black/white/red/yellow, man or woman.

CherylCarroll,
The public is not obligated to forgive anyone. But a sinner does not ask the public for forgiveness at first. First he/she must go before God and ask for His forgivness. But I believe one cannot be forgiven unless one forgives all he/she has wronged. Afterwards then one seeks reconcilliation from those around them.
Make right before God and family.

Of course he does. The self rightous moralizers that want to impose their religious nonsense on the rest of us have shown again and again they are all too human.

K: BS. You’re doing it right now. Playing ‘unholier than thou’ as being ‘holier than thou’. The fact is that Sanford lied – I think he should go. Clinton lied – you didn’t think HE should go. Makes you sort of an ‘immoralizer’ don’t you think?

At least with recent events the Dems resign. The Repubes stay and still try to push their “famliy values”. It was especially delicious when Vitter and Craig were co-sponsors of a “family values” bill. The Clinton thing was a decade ago. These repubpigs keep doing it over and over. At the same time lecturing to the rest of us heathen Americans why they’re better. Keep lecturing your way into a permanent minority.

My guess is: No.

Nope. We don’t hold those in the democratic party accountable for their lies. We only hold rebublicans accountable.
Now if you want to see democrats being trashed daily for their “lies”, I suggest you visit a right wing site. You won’t be disappointed.
