Iran: The Fix Is In

Since Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei is urging Iranians to accept Ahmadinejad’s “victory,” it seems that he will likely continue in office. Farhad, tweeting from Iran has some interesting, ongoing commentary and links. The US is closely monitoring the election results and reiterating the offer for dialogue.

A senior U.S. official reiterated Washington’s offer for talks with Iran over a range of issues, from Afghanistan and Iraq to disputes over its nuclear program that Tehran says is for peaceful purposes.

Head Of Minuteman Group Arrested For Double Homicide

One of three people arrested in connection with a double homicide in Arivaca, AZ, is the National Executive Director of the Minuteman American Defense Group. Jason Eugene Bush, Albert Robert Gaxioila, and Shawna Forde, the woman who heads the minuteman group, are charged with two counts of First Degree Murder, one count of First Degree Burglary, and one count of Aggravated Assault.  Raul Flores and his 9-year-old daughter  Brisenia were killed in the assault.

Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik says, “Jason Bush was in fact the shooter of all three of these people under orders from Ms. Forde.”

On September 2, during the presidential campaing, Jay Leno told this joke:

“Gov. Palin announced over the weekend that her 17-year-old unmarried daughter is five months pregnant. And you thought John Edwards was in trouble before! Now he has really done it.” — “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.”

This is not much different than the Letterman joke about which the right wing is going crazy:

“One awkward moment for Sarah Palin at the Yankee game,” Letterman said, “during the seventh inning, her daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez.”

Dog Saves Family Then Dies In Fire

Jeter, a 5 year old, 120 pound Great Pyrenees, saved the lives of Glenda Moss and her 19 year old son, David, by alerting them to a fire in their Piqua, Ohio home. (h/t Nancy at ViewsNews)

Neal Horsley Sings About The Shooting Of George Tiller

Neal Horsley, the secessionst, Creator’s Rights Party candidate for governor of Georgia, and member of anti-abortion extremist group “Army of God,” who would cross off the names of abortion doctors on his website after they were killed, has written what he’s calling a “Christian folk song” about the man who murdered George Tiller.  With lyrics like, “Couldn’t live with the things he saw, so he killed a killer down in Wichita,” how can one object to such artistry?
