OK State Rep. Sally Kern Reminds Us How Homosexuality Used To Be Illegal

July 1st, 2009, 3:21 PM EDT

Oklahoma state legislator Sally Kern, who earned the “Wingnut of the Day” monicker here, deserves credit for showing up on my radio show last night.  Rightwingwatch is on the case and shares some of the good stuff.

Kern insists that what gays really want is to destroy marriage so that they can legalize polygamy and pedophilia, saying that the push for gay marriage is just the beginning of the effort to “take away the Bible.” She claims that the government is “being intolerant of those who hold Biblical views” and that what she merely wants is “laws that protect the most people in all situations” instead of passing laws that make legal “behavior that we know is harmful.”

  1. Just from what I read above I do agree that the government in part but not as a whole is “intolerant of those who hold Biblical views.”

And I believe that passing laws in the light of a group mentality is not the American way.

Want to back that up a little?

Because we have a secular government with a populis that demands religiosity on their elected leaders by means of the vote.

So where in all that is this ‘intolerance’?

It’s absurd. She is sitting in a government position and expressing fundamental religious views, with no secret police coming to take her away.

    Paranoia anyone?

“And I believe that passing laws in the light of a group mentality is not the American way.”

When the over-reaching and tyrannical rule of the majority infringes on the rights of a minoriry we have The Bill of Rights in America to provide justice of all.

That’s the American Way. Now you know…

    GuidoVanHorn Reply:

Eric the fact when anyone references the bible they are chided, derided, mocked, and ridiculed for it is evidence enough that, that particular statement is correct.

    michael Reply:

Very few people would have a problem with referencing the Bible. The problem is wanting to throw away the Constitution and make the Bible the law of the land.

    VegasLib Reply:

    Willio,

Or maybe THAT is what makes it the American way… Hmm.

Remember the Civil Rights movement? Laws were passed then in the light of a group mentality. Was the Civil Rights movement unAmerican, Willy? HU?

From what source or experience does she get this insight into the “gay agenda”. Amazing ignorance and fear.

    average james Reply:

Has she been reading this site’s threads ?

Some lively polygamy threads have been going on.

Or is this a talking point from Focus on the Family or a similar group.

    Daddio Reply:

Who knows where she gets her insight Placefield. Let’s not judge her.

Many wonder where we get our insights or experience on many of the issues we discuss here.

Until we know more about Kern we should keep our powder dry and not waste our ammo.

You know, what we might consider outrageous comments by some are more rational by others.

Take Eric for example. Nuff said.

    placefield Reply:

Believe me, I am keenly aware that ignorance and fear are burdens we all bear and have to deal within ourselves. Just seems to me she is letting these issues dominate her stance on this issue.

    EricG Reply:

You do love you twist the issue up and puke out a wonderful little pile of partisan baloney instead actually addressing that these perspectives are exactly why so many gay teens commit suicide.

Those are the facts, and you’re a heartless monster if you don’t care at all about protecting the rights of gay Americans.

Nobody asked you to agree with me with Alan or any liberal.

The need to demonize me coming from you is a form of praise.

    Thank you.

    Daddio Reply:

You’re welcome Eric. And thanks for the kind words. You always make my case about your posts.

    TDro319 Reply:

So because you have no logical explanation for this woman’s stupid, idiotic and moronic statements, you feel compelled to demonize Eric, Daddio? How very christian of you!

    flap Reply:

“ignorance and fear are burdens we all bear and have to deal within ourselves”

I’m afraid of pedophilia*. Wrong? Should that be embraced? Yes, I know, that’s “different” but it proves that it’s a matter of perspective. Some people think pedophilia is A-OKAY! Ever heard of the “progressives” at NAMBLA?

    “The need to demonize me”

EricG, you’ve made so many outlandish statements that I can’t keep track of them anymore. I don’t think you’re demonized…I think you demonize yourself with your inflated rhetoric.

    * NOTE TO ANY TOUCHY LIBS: I AM NOT EQUATING THOSE WHO PRACTICE HOMOSEXUALITY WITH THOSE WHO PRACTICE PEDOPHILIA. I ONLY USE IT TO SHOW THAT IT IS NOT NECESSARILY ALWAYS A BAD THING TO BE AFRAID OF CERTAIN PRACTICES.

I’LL SAY AGAIN: I AM NOT EQUATING THOSE WHO PRACTICE HOMOSEXUALITY WITH THOSE WHO PRACTICE PEDOPHILIA.

    placefield Reply:

    Trees,
Not what I was talking about and you know it. Never said fear was in and of itself bad. It is a necessary survival skill. We as thinking individuals just need to question where our fear comes from.

So THAT’s what’s behind the gay movement! Their REAL agenda is to legalize pedophilia and polygamy. And here I thought they just wanted the same rights as everybody else.

After Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell informed us that the gays were responsible for 9/11, Hurricane Katrina and the tsunami, I should’ve guessed they were out to destroy America!

Round and round we go, when we stop nobody knows!!!

I admitted many times that I am using the right wing radio tactics that I hear to reverse them into what you read.

It’s a game, I’m not entirely serious. I have one single blog that i don’t do that on and …. what, I think 300 hits or so. Then I do a Ann Coulter is a dirty whore piece and get about oh .. 500 IN A DAY! So do you understand now what right wing radio really is!?!

What like 90% of all blogging is!?!

It’s people cruising the airwaves or internet looking for someone to pick a fight with the ‘other guy’ in politics.

‘Screw them! They are so bad, I’m so great.’

When you talk about ‘demonizing myself’ your talking about horse-play I do on the internet.

Meet me in person, holy mackrel I have the same opinion minus the baloney. Though I have little tolerance for one-sided thinking and being unwilling to think critically about issues upon which a person is claiming a profoundly passionate perspective.

I just want people to be straight-up and explain themselves in both media & politics.

Somehow this makes me a ‘radical.’ So be it.

    flap Reply:

    “It’s a game, I’m not entirely serious”

Fair enough, I know some of the political game on both sides is not entirely serious.

Heh, heh, I’m sure you’re a nice guy in person. I’m sure most of us are (on both sides of the aisle). At least I hope.

    EricG Reply:

“From what source or experience does she get this insight into the “gay agenda”. Amazing ignorance and fear.”

Same place Bill’O gets his perspectives on liberals and Limbo / Shammity on Obama.

    The toilet.

The same place I go when I start Neo-Con Bashing, same place Daddio went he tried to demean me just above me.

Honest, real Americans will admit that they don’t really know a damn thing about ideologies and social movements that they do not care for or share anything with.

    It makes sense!

Let’s listen to viscous bigots about gay and never actually … treat them like people and talk to them like equals …

    Bitterness my friends, bitterness.

Same thing that makes the racists call every night to Alan’s show.

    Daddio Reply:

    “Bitterness my friends, bitterness.”–Eric.

You sound bitter and angry. I give my opinions here, the same as you. You seem to always take my positions personal. Nothing personal here buddy.

Your antics don’t offend me. You rather amuse me.

Since you don’t agree with my opinions you say I get them from the “toilet”. Ok, think what you want to think.

I respect your opinions Eric. But the way you go about demeaning those who disagree with you is unbecoming of you. It makes it very hard to have an honest open debate with you.

Anyhow, you have a good day. I must go tend some things around the house that needs attended to.

Rocky…what can I say. You have a nice day also.

“You seem to always take my positions personal. Nothing personal here buddy.”

    Of course it’s not personal!

Don’t be silly! Though I do get pissed and that’s totally my problem and I try like heck to not just (I call it) flame all day.

    “I respect your opinions Eric”

Well thank you. I find it hard to find conservatives will say as much as when I sit down and think about it I have no problem with anyone’s politics, at all!

I want to settle it in the voting booth and not on anyone’s jaw … but all that fury comes from what I see as a lack of respect from the right towards President Obama as a person, other issues as well like promoting a culture of violence and hatred … but in the end we all have to decide as a people if we want to live in a society with none but partisan bickering in all our media and all our government.

“Your antics don’t offend me. You rather amuse me”

That’s good! That’s my intent. I’m not nearly as much as spam artist as I might look, I actually hate doing ‘hit pieces’ for blogs but it’s all part of the show that is the internet.

  3. First we need to purge the armed services of all the radical evangelical extremists in the officer corps, and then we take all these cretins like Kern and Bachman and Palin and ship them off to the middle east where they can spread the word of their god–whoever that might be–just as much as they want, or until they’re beheaded by the local religious police.

“Many wonder where we get our insights or experience on many of the issues we discuss here.”

No one wonders about it. You obviously take a long look up your bunghole every morning and then you come here and spout off. Some days you try to sound so reasonable and nice, like you consider all sides of the issue before Jesus comes by to reveal the truth to you, and other days you and your sockpuppets like the Moron from Texas just puke away like you think you’re going to intimate people, which, more often than not, is just hilariously funny.

But, hey, try to have a nice day anyway.

  4. Rep. Kern – “The government is intolerant of biblical views.”

As it was since it’s inception banning burning at the stake, public stonings, etc. and granting freedom of religious practice, whatever that practice may be.

“Same-sex Marriage is just the start of what they want. They want to sexualize our children.”

What does she base this on? I have never heard anyone advocate or even bring that up in the course of trying to grant the freedom to marry.

“I believe in absolute truth ..”

As do I. And we stand opposed. Thus we need a legal system that grants equal rights to both of us while we bicker and nash teeth over biblical definitions. Rather than forming a state-approved religious view.

“We need get back to a Judeo-Christian value.”

I find this state common in right wing circles but everything I know about American History, Judaism, Christanity and government says that this statement is not reflective of an understanding of this nation.

You can’t find “Judeo-”ANYTHING in American writings and culture until about 1930, I think.

And there are massive differences between the two religions.

First and foremost would be that Jesus is the Savior and the most significant is that we shall not ‘kill’ while the Jewish perspective teaches that we shall not ‘murder.’

  5. I wonder if Kern knows that adultry is still illegal in South Carolina and if she keeps bringing up these arcane statutes someone might put two-and-two together and go arrest Governor Mark Sanford.

    crh3e Reply:

Good point, BTW oral sex is still illegal in VA so I wonder if the heterosexuals are with the gays on the agenda to destroy America.

  6. Thank God for the separation of church and state. No lack of vision there.

  7. I never thought there could be a worse elected official than Michelle Bachmann. Clearly I was wrong.

  8. And you better pay attention when OKie Sallie Kern or her preacher husband tell you about teh Gays!
PARTICULARLY Sally, cause she has a conceal and carry permit, just like Michele Bachmann, but Sallie sometimes forgets her is in her purse like in 2008 when she was going into the Courthouse!
PRAISE the Lord. God WANTS Sally to have that GUN.

  9. Ah, I love homophobic nostalgia! Yes, those were the good old days when you could imprison, beat, and murder homosexuals and have no conscience about it whatsover.
