  1. Would you be so able to forgive a cheating spouse?

    A cheating spouse? Yes.

A spouse who is as big of a goofball as Sanford? No.

“Would you be so able to forgive a cheating spouse?”

All things depand on a great many factors. (People never like my answers. Sue me.)

LOL, UC. I totally agree though. It’s all about the person and the relationship that you have with that person.

  2. I’m just curious Alan, did you defend Bill Clinton?

Did Bill make sure he attended church carrying his bible and was he sure someone got a photo op?

Did Bill make sure all of us knew he was receiving spiritual counseling in regards to his adultery issue with Ms. Lewinsky?

Did Bill self-righteously pound the podium and emphatically deny having sexual “relations” with “that” woman?

Why are you not giving Mark Sanford the same consideration that you gave Bill Clinton?

    Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm????????

It’s Alan’s site. Hw can post whatever he wants. If you don’t think Clinton’s not getting enough bashing to your satisfaction, you can leave. Besides, doesn’t your god hate Clinton?

    EricG Reply:

Face it. It’s a dark day for Rpublicans and Mark Sanford is just one reason why this is so.

Let the parades come out! The elephant is dead!

  3. You know, as far as Alan is concerned this isn’t really about what Mark Sanford did, it’s about who Mark Sanford is………..

If Mark Sanford was a Democrat Alan would be looking to sweep this issue under the rug………..

    Um Cara Reply:

Alan was reasonably critical of Edwards.

    trees are people too Reply:

    Hmmm……

So if Alan likes you, you not only get a pass, but he’ll staunchly defend you.

If he doesn’t care one way or the other, he’ll be reasonably critical.

And if he strongly dislikes you, you will get pilloried.

Have I about got that right then, Um?

    Um Cara Reply:

How did you get that from my statement? I was pointing out that he was critical of John Edwards, who he liked, when Edward’s affair and lies were revealed.

Have I about got that right then, Um?

    No

    Joel Reply:

Trees, with all due respect, you’re completely full of it on this one. Alan’s preferred candidate throughout much of the 2008 Democratic Primary race was John Edwards, and when Edwards’ affair became public, Alan was highly critical of his behavior. You’re suggesting otherwise simply because it would fit your argument if that were the case. But that’s not the case. So stop making things up.

I was just thinking out loud Joel.

It does seem that Alan pursues political opposition with a particular vigor in regards to personal moral issues while languishing a bit and giving any and all benefit of the doubt to those whose political views he shares.

This is entirely his right to do so, but I will challenge and question his motives if I feel the persecution to be unfair.

If he maintained the same standard for all as he did for one (Clinton) then I would be far less critical of him. (Alan)

And wasn’t Hillary actually his candidate of choice? (Alan’s)?

He would be doing his credibility a huge service by focusing on political views and issues, rather than personal issues.

Especially in light of his defense of Bill Clinton during the Clinton presidency, and the constant twisting of the real reason Clinton faced impeachment. (which Alan participated in, the defense of the perjury, not the act of adultery)

It was for lying under oath to a Grand Jury during an investigation, and the purpose of the lie was to conceal his (Clinton) adulterous relationship with Paula Jones.

Now I’ve said all that to say this, Mr. Sanford needs to resign.

    See how easy that was?

Why didn’t Alan do the same when it was Bill Clinton facing comparable allegations?

P.S., don’t worry Alan can come and have enchiladas too if he promises to behave himself at dinner.

P.S.S., provided I win the lottery this weekend of course!

I’ve got a bible study to attend so I’ve gotta run, Alan thanks for allowing dissenting opinion on your site, c-ya, trees

    Joel Reply:

To clarify a few misconceptions, Trees:

Alan’s preferred candidate was Edwards until he left the race, and then he preferred Hillary until Obama clinched the nomination.

Alan never called for Clinton OR Sanford to resign. And he didn’t defend perjury; he argued that Clinton’s perjury regarding adultery should not result in Clinton losing the presidency.

And as we always say to those who say that a topic on the radio show isn’t as important as some other topic, you are always welcome to call into the show bring up whatever issue that YOU think is more worthy of discussion.

Joel – “Trees, with all due respect, you’re completely full of it on this one”

I gave up on saying ‘with all due respect’ a long time ago. Unless I’m talking to an official or royality or something like addressing the tactics of a foreign nation I know nothing about.

How much respect is due? How much was taken?

What can we do to get it back, Joel!?! What can we do????

    EricG Reply:

“It does seem that Alan pursues political opposition with a particular vigor in regards to personal moral issues”

And when he does some right winger somewhere goes ape-bannanas over it and all day, all night the conservative media slanders and spins everything about Democrats and ANYONE even percieved as a liberal.

Alan does exactly what he should! And don’t you forget it that he goes after a scandal on both sides. It’s the right wing who pretends they are pure and perfect on the air and in the public.

  4. On the lighter side Um Cara, have you ever seen the movie “Napoleon dynamite”?

    Um Cara Reply:

    Yep, very funny flic

    trees are people too Reply:

That’s where my “bow to your sensei” line came from the other day.

I could watch that movie over and over…….

    GuidoVanHorn Reply:

have you ever watched the deleted scenes?

There’s an absolute Gem where Napoleon is playing kickball and he run up to Summer and hits her with the ball…if you haven’t seen it, find it and watch it.

  5. Oh, and not to bum you out Um, but I had possibly the best chile relleno burrito of my life yesterday…….

I’ll tell you what, if I hit the lottery this weekend the first thing I’ll do is fly you up from Brazil for a nice dinner.

I’ll even fly Joel out here too…….

    Um Cara Reply:

Mmm… Best chile relleno I ever had was in Juarez in the late eighties, a quarter for the relleno and a quarter for the coca cola…

    trees are people too Reply:

Are you from the El Paso area then?

I got like 20 pairs of Tony Lama boots that I bought at the Tony Lama factory outlet stores in and around El Paso.

Stingray wingtips, Ostrich hide, Rattlesnake skin (the cool ones, not those dopey ones with the snake head on the toes fangs bared)etc…

Anyway I gotta get ready to leave in a little while, have a good one Um, trees

    pierre Reply:

    Te encantas mucho el chile?

    libpatriot Reply:

Si, Pierre, yo encanto mucho comer les chiles! Quizas porque yo vivo dentro de Tucson, yo pongo.

  6. I’m starting a pool on when Alan will post something about Sanford being cleared of using state funds for his affair…I have $10 on never.

  7. Alan Colmes – “Blind hatred of Barack Obama”

Unpatriotic and disgraceful Americans with nothing to contribute call your show and host their own Hate Fests on other shows … The Bush Bashing was focused on war policy and the results of the election in 2000.

If conservatives had some solid arguments and few reps who showed a little respect to the president, they might have a better time about it.

  8. It’s pretty obvious that the reason Michael Scheuer no longer works for the CIA is that he has no greater regard for anything but his own opinions, and, in his view, no one is better qualified than he to do anything.
