Is Palin Leaving Politics For Good?

July 3rd, 2009, 6:12 PM EDT

NBC’s Andrea Mitchell reports that Sarah Palin is “out of politics, period.” Halperin has more.

Responses to this post...

  1. Palin is leaving politics to … run off with Mark Sanford.

Try to come up with something that makes better sense?

    pizzaman Reply:

Actually, she’s headed to the London School of Economics to study under Monica Lewinski.

No one ever said you got things the first time, Rocky.

  3. Wow………what a tremendous disappointment for all you Lib’s……..

    Um Cara Reply:

I’m not disapointed, I have been saying all along it would be better for America to have two viable tickets to choose from come election time.

Palin already poisoned the Republican ticket in one election, it is good for the GOP and good for America that she is stepping out of politics.

    pizzaman Reply:

    Right again, UmCara.

    Epiphany Reply:

Yes indeed. What a disappointment. I’m crushed.

    Sniff.

  4. There is another shoe to drop!!!!

    Lily Reply:

Don’t you mean another red f***-me pump?

    libpatriot Reply:

LOL, Lily! Haven’t heard from you in almost a month now. Glad you’re still with us!

    Lily Reply:

I’ve still been here reading. It’s just that the cons who post here seem to be getting sicker and sicker. Honestly, I think I’d go crazy if I had so much ugliness and hate swimming through my brain….oh, maybe I’m on to something.

    libpatriot Reply:

Maybe you ARE on to something, Lily. And maybe the cons are on to the trend that they’re losing ground on issues (health care, environmental protection, employee free choice, etc.), and that’s making them even crazier.
In any case, the desire to want to remain above the fray is understandable.

    libpatriot Reply:

Still, far be it from me to blame all conservatives for the remarks of someone like “lastfreeamerican” on the Michael Scheuer threads; that would be like blaming all liberals for something the Unabomber said.

And some conservatives here, such as GuidoVanHorn, Helipilot, and even Daddio (for example) seem to me to be trying to keep the discourse here on a civil level, and I DO appreciate that!

    4moreyears Reply:

    Agreed.

Do you think maybe some shocking pictures from her 4 or 5 colleges or perhaps Todd has gotten too close to those Huskies. Zoo? Woof.

  5. 1) She’s resigning because the feds are about to indict her for something. Maybe she got caught with a meth-lab in the backyard?

    2) Someone gave her the headsup it’s Rapture time and she’s quitting to start assembling her “Rapture kit”?

    3) She’s pregnant by Mark Sanford.

    4) She’s clearing her calendar so Obama can make her the next chairman of the Federal Reserve to replace Bernanke?

  6. 5) She’s moving to Iowa to start a new job with … John Deere?

    jazmine Reply:

lol, I can’t picture her riding a tractor in her short, shorts. She’s better suited to donning a pair of wranglers picking off late-night comedians with a Ruger SR-556.

  7. 6) Getting her credentials to become a geography teacher.

    craig7120 Reply:

    7) Stay at home mom? Todd was hired as a deckhand on next seasons Deadliest Catch.

    pizzaman Reply:

    And he’ll get the crabs.

  8. She can now concentrate on bringing star power to ‘culture war’ issues. Why should the Huckster be the only game in town?

  9. She wants to fufill her dream as an anchorwoman at Fox news.
She will be the new co-host of Sean Hannnity.

    EricG Reply:

Careful Pierre … that little theory might come true…

  10. 8) She’s setting herself up to run for the White House in 2012. She has to spend the next 3 years campaigning in the lower 48 and she won’t have any time leftover to run Alaska.

And you thought this dim bulb was just going to resign and disappear out on to the tundra?

The Neocons are still behind her. She was their pick before the VP presentation to McCain and she’s still their man. And, the Dobson crowd must still be behind her. All joking aside, that alone should be cause for concern.

    crh3e Reply:

If this indeed is true I hope Tina Fey does us all another public service and helps prevent her from winning in 2012.

    pizzaman Reply:

No, actually, according to Obama, it’s the “lower 56″. But who’s counting?

  11. Palin is going to stay low every1 and run for 2012 or senator for her state.

I don,t like her polices, but if the lady brushes up and listen to her staffers she could end up being the front runner. Alot of conservatives love Palin.

Learning to reach out moderates and minorites would help her as well. However,if comes out singing the same old song and dance is a total waste f time.

    jasperjava Reply:

Reaching out to moderates and minorities? Nah-gah-happen.

This is the woman who believes that there are “patriotic, pro-American” parts of America, and others that are, well, not.

I don’t think she’s teachable. They prepared her for two weeks before the disastrous Couric interview, and she came off as an ignorant moron.

    steve Reply:

    True !!!

  12. “Is the GOP leaving politics for good?”

    Danielle Reply:

    Certainly looks that way!

  13. 12) She’s got a “rEaLiITy” TV in the works.

  14. 13) There’s only room for one Michele Bachman in the GOP.

    FuRyUs Reply:

She might be crazypantsing her way out too…

    4moreyears Reply:

True Rocky, but Bachmann is unelectable outside her freakazoid MN06 and HER destiny is as an Ann Coulter style commentator, and Palin MIGHT just beat her to it now. There wouldn’t be room for too many Palin/Bachmann Faux news reporters.

This IS crushing news for those of us who detest what the GOP has become. A lot of people thought Palin was still a player and that was a SPECTACULAR use and waste of their energy.
With all the pretty new boyz and girlz down the flusher it is obvious to me they should turn to the dynamic team of:
John McCain and Willard Romney. I see some real chemistry there. Let’s remember to thank John McCAin ONE MORE TIME for the gift that was Sarah Palin.

    anonymouse Reply:

“There wouldn’t be room for too many Palin/Bachmann Faux news reporters.”

That’s like sayin’ there wouldn’t be enough room in the night sky for all the stars.

Of course there’s room for Palin/Bachmann on Fox. A little leg, a little cleavage and what else is required?

    4moreyears Reply:

Yep. You R SO Wize Rocky ObyJuanCanolie…

    GuidoVanHorn Reply:

as much as libs hate Romney, he was the only presidential candidate anywhere near qualified to lead us through an economic crisis…just saying.

  15. I liked her. she seemed sorda normal.not all slick

    GuidoVanHorn Reply:

I liked her too, as maybe a mom, beauty queen, tv personality, maybe even the mayor of small town…but she would’ve been a disaster as VP.

    steve Reply:

Very true Guido. My gut feeling says the lady will make a comeback.

Remember Reagan around 75 and 76. Mowed over by his own party and the media as well. Along came 80 and Reagan was 1 tough cookie.

I don,t care for Palin,s polices and said she is ADHD. I have no ideal if the lady can make a comeback or not. 1 thing for sure, hardline conservatives love Palin.

I find myself bashing and standing up for her. She has talent as well. Palin is lousy concerning public relations and stubborn. If Palin works hard on her faults, she has a chance.

    pierre Reply:

    What talent?

I am mom- vote for me.
no abortion under any circustances-vote for me

    Daddio Reply:

    Steve,

That is what I like about you. You have the ability to disagree with someone on the opposite side politically and still have respect for that person. I hope I can come across like that. I know sometimes I can get partisan, but as a whole I really do try to be respectful of the oppositions opinions.

I do like Sarah Palin. I think she has been bashed by the left to a degree that is unprecidents, in my opinion.

Every ethics charge that has been brought up about her has either been dropped or found to have no merit. It has burdened her with over $500,000 in legal bills which is unfair. But I think that was their bottom all along. To demonize Sarah and burden her with a ton of debt all in attempts to ruin her.

    Rocky the Liberal Rottweiler Reply:

“Every ethics charge that has been brought up about her has either been dropped or found to have no merit.”

You just can’t stop lying. But I guess that goes with the complete lack of morals and contempt for the rule of law exhibited endlessly by the radical evangelical rightwing.

“Oct . 11, 2008 ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Sarah Palin unlawfully abused her power as governor by trying to have her former brother-in-law fired as a state trooper, the chief investigator of an Alaska legislative panel concluded Friday.”

    GuidoVanHorn Reply:

daddio it’s not accurate to say that every ethics charge…she did have to repay travel expenses for her kids, and unless she was being called out on it, I doubt she would have self-reported, in my mind that’s an ethical violation…I don’t think it’s a major violation, especially since she agreed to pay it back, and honestly it’s an easy enough thing to mistakenly do.

    steve Reply:

conservative talent i have odds with. Face it,craze neocons love the lady. Just saying ,if Palin takes a cue card from Reagan when he was laugh at in 75 and 76 from Ford and company. 1980 comes around, the man was solid as a rock.

  16. I wouldn’t bury Sarah Palin yet. She is not the idiot Katie Couric attempted to make her into.

    Um Cara Reply:

It wasn’t Katie Couric that made Palin look like an idiot in those interviews. Give credit where credit is due!

Plain hit a homerun w/ regards to making herself look like an idiot.

    steve Reply:

Hahahahaha, she sure did. A Grand slam at that.

    TDro319 Reply:

Sarah Palin didn’t need Katie Couric to make her look like an idiot. She did that all by herself – with no help at all.

    EricG Reply:

“She is not the idiot Katie Couric attempted to make her into.”

Oh please! Is the media coming get you? The ‘drive-by’ media!?!

Palin did it to herself. Couric was actually quite nice, until after the interview. It takes a pair of puppy-dog love eyes for Palin while viewing those famous interviews between her and the media.

The woman is not very smart.

All power to her, but when can’t answer simple questions … it means you’re not very smart.

    Danielle Reply:

Nope….needed absolutely no help in looking like an idiot.

I still love the comment made by a Republican politician (can’t remember her name): “when I would watch an interview of her…I did so with my finger on top of the mute button of my remote…I felt a cross between it being too humorous to NOT watch, but too painful TO watch”. Couldn’t have said it better myself….I felt the exact same way!

  17. I don’t think Sarah Palin is through with politics.
