Palin Resigning
Is she doing this to have more time in the lower 48 in advance of a 2012 presidential run?
She said she would resign at the end of this month and transfer power to Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell.
Palin made the announcement from her home in Wasilla, flanked by her husband, Todd, and family and state commissioners.

Hmmm – what has the cross-eyed one done now that requires her to resign in such an unseemly rush?

I’ll just quote myself—yet again.
“It would be really unusual for someone who’s committed the time and energy to actually become governor of a state to simply pick up one day, and, without a word to anyone, go for a walk-about.” Posted by Rocky the Liberal Rottweiler, June 23rd, 2009 at 11:36 am
My guess is she’s cut a deal to avoid an indictment. But it’s just a guess. So don’t even bother asking for sources LoL.

Her running for president in 2012 spells disaster for the GOP (go ahead and do it though). She’s already lost as VP candidate. Does she really think she’ll win as candidate for president? A good part of the defeat last year was her presence on the ticket. The GOP would be wise to go with somebody who is moderate on social issues, knowledeable about economics, and good with national security at the same time. That’s not her.

well I’m sure FDR should have taken approach..well I already lost once as VP…there’s no way I can win as President.
but I’ll agree she shouldn’t be a candidate for the GOP’s sake.
July 3rd, 2009 at 4:17 pm
I’d say it’s fairly likely that whatever is causing her to resign, will cause her to not be a candidate in 2012 (and I’m sure the GOP is breathing a sigh of relief. I have no doubt they regret the monster they created).
Should be an interesting story to see develop.

I wonder when the Palin-the-Eternal-Victim-Who-Accuses-Others-of-Pallin-Around-With-Terrorists-While-Winking Tour starts.
Aaah! And I thought the Sanford fiasco was funny. That rambling, bumbling press conference just reinforced her image as a fool. I hope for her sake, she isn’t doing this so she can run in 2012. Oh calm down….I didn’t call her schizophrenic!
My point was that the speech was her rambling on, changing subjects. I think you’re being a bit too sensitive there buddy.
Some of the stuff she said didn’t even make any sense. Like when she was talking about her baby Trig and that “we need more people in the world like Trig”. I would never condone people mocking a baby with Down Syndrome and I’m a strong advocate of people with cognitive disabilities, but I don’t think we “need” to desire that their be more disabled people. I think I understand the point she was trying to make (everybody’s life has value, whether disabled or not, and that society as a whole needs to be more accepting and respectful of individuals with cognitive disabilities) – but the way she worded it was just weird.

For starters,Palin needs some1 well rounded in Public Relations and solid staffers as well. Some1 that has the balls and say, shut up,no response to this or that. Comment when need be . No fighting with the talk show host and people not important.
Keep her family from being the topic as well. By not taking her kids into the spotlight.

C’mon. Let’s be Frank. Or Ernest. Or Julio, I don’t care.
Palin’s not stupid. What happened to her is what invariably happens when people are under immense pressure of the moment in the national glare. They have brain farts and say stupid things. Obama, for all his brilliance, once said he’d been to 57 states. So what? Anyone can be caught doing that, if you keep the mike on them long enough. But the plain truth is that she didn’t have the experience to step in at a second’s notice. Very, very few people do. And ALL of us would occasionally misspeak. So be fair. And if you measure her by how fluently she speaks, listen to Obama some time. It’s painful. So stop calling her stupid unless you have something to point to other than a brainfart that she spoke. It’s dishonest . . . SO dishonest that it’s STUPID. Now, if you can point to something really stupid that she said, we’re all ears.
And that’s NOT a poke at Obama. Well, OK, it is.

The two worlds of Sarah..
There was her ‘pretend world’ in this world she was more than qualified for higher office, she relied and believed in voodoo, she believed pro Americans only live in small towns, censorship of books good, science bad…..
The real world or reality, she was at best a wink and a smile. give her a couple of lil quips and she was off to the races, in reality all she had was talking points. She was not equipped with the necessary tools for the pressure of politics. Most people are not btw.
Apparently the two worlds collided today.
Reality won

“She believed pro Americans only live in small towns.” I’m more conservative than Palin is, and not even I believe THAT. Honestly, what did she actually SAY that allows you to so ridiculously paraphrase her?
You say she also believed in “censorship of books.” Really? Hadn’t heard that. What books? What did she SAY?

1. WASILLA — Back in 1996, when she first became mayor, Sarah Palin asked the city librarian if she would be all right with censoring library books should she be asked to do so.
2. We believe that the best of America is in these small towns that we get to visit, and in these wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard working very patriotic, um, very, um, pro-America areas of this great nation.”
3. The witch hunter? Muthee founded the Prayer Cave in 1989 in Kiambu, Kenya, after “God spoke” to him and his late wife, Margaret, and called him to the country, according to the church’s Web site.
In video footage of the speech, she is seen saying: “As I was mayor and Pastor Muthee was here and he was praying over me, and you know how he speaks and he’s so bold. And he was praying “Lord make a way, Lord make a way.”

Actually Craig, you’re right. But your exaggeration and hyperbole deprive your point of force. She was asked to be President and saw a mirage in front of her. She forgot that to run this country respectably takes YEARS years of hard work, leadership, proven mettle, knowledge of history, economics, foreign relations, and on and on. She didn’t have it. But tell me honestly, what did Obama have along these lines?

Pizzaman,
Obama was extraordinarily qualified for the POTUS based on these two achievements….
1. He ran and was successfully appointed to political office as a U.S. senator. (1 term)
2. He was a community organizer who displayed exemplary organizational skills within his community.
That’s it.
Um Cara Reply:

I thought he was qualified to be the POTUS because he won a convincing victory.
However, I honestly think Palin lost McCain the election more than Obama won the election. If the Republicans can shake the death grip the evangelical right and Rush Limbaugh have held on their party prior to the next election, Obama will be a one termer.

I always suspected that Sarah Palin was certifiably insane. Now there’s no doubt, unless she has a very good reason… however, none seems to be forthcoming yet. She has completely destroyed her political career with this boneheaded move.
Which is good. I have too much faith in the intelligence of the American people to believe that she ever could be elected President, but accidents can happen. Look at Dubya – a man who should never have gotten more than single-digit support.

So I read the transcript of her speech, then i listened to the audio…she makes some good points, but while I listened she sounded extremely nervous, and like she had something to hide, at least that’s what it sounded like to me.
If you just read it, she lays out some fairly clear reasons why she wants to step down (some of which are kind of lame, others of which are good) but her delivery wasn’t like anything else I’ve seen from her. There are lots of reasons she could be like that, but I sense something fishy.
July 4th, 2009 at 4:22 am
Her speech was one of the most bizarre I have ever seen from a public official. I just watched it again and a few things still stand out.
If this decision was made as a result of many months of consideration (and – as an afterthought – prayer) why did this sound like a stunned beauty queen’s fumbling attempts to make a coherent acceptance speech?
It sounded improvised, she was breathless, grasping ideas out of the air, she made many grammatical errors, her trademark wink replaced by random facial tics. I felt as uncomfortable watching and listening, as she apparently felt delivering this on-the-spot train-wreck of a public address.
The content of the speech was just nuts.
How is she a lame duck when the election is a year and a half away?
She claims to be want to avoid an interruption to the running of the state – yet isn’t the Governor abandoning her office just about the biggest interruption imaginable.
The one thing she said with which I completely agree is that she promised “efficiencies and effectiveness”. Her dumping the people of Alaska in pursuit of whatever her handlers have promised, gives that state the chance to be governed by an efficient and effective hands-on servant of the public – not a media-hungry absentee landlady.
Alaska – Independence day came 24 hours early for you.
