Arizona State Senator Climate-Change Denier: Earth Is Just 6,000 Years Old
Arizona State Senator Sylvia Allen wants to open up uranium mining in her state. After all, she says, the earth is 6000 years old, has been here long before anybody had environmental laws, “and so far it hasn’t been done away with.” Ironically, had she known the true age of the earth (estimated to be 4.55 billion years), she would have had a better argument.

……………………….
I understood it was because “Global Warming” sounded like a good thin to some people.
Remember, Newt taught that phraseology matters with his 1996 GOPAC memo, Language: A Key Mechanism of Control.

Republicans talk about “tax relief” instead of tax cuts, “collateral damage” instead of civilian casualties, the “death tax” instead of the estate tax. It’s manipulating language in function of an agenda.
“Climate Change”, however, is a more accurate description than “global warming”. The global climate is a very complex system. The earth is warming, but this could paradoxically cause ice ages in certain areas of the world, as the polar icecaps melt and fill the ocean currents with frigid waters. So it’s not the same type of verbal obfuscation that’s practiced by the Orwellian Right.

Mental defectives like Sen. Allen should be prohibited from running for elective office–because these people live in a dream-world and they are driving the human race to the brink of extinction.
She should be removed from office.

Now let’s give her a break here, shall we? She was only off by a slim margin of, oh, 4 billion years!
July 8th, 2009 at 5:03 pm
She says “… so our grandchildren can have the same lifestyles that we have…”.
My take?
Why does this woman hate her grandchildren so much?
Does she really want them to be so ignorant as to deny the body of knowledge that has taken humanity milenia to develop?

“…so our grandchildren can have the same lifestyles that we have…”
Another brain-dead hick talking lifestyles when she should be talking survival.

Not only is the Earth only 6000 years old but Adam & Eve peacefully co-existed with dinosaurs. In fact, they kept a dinosaur as a pet. They called it “Dino”.

The “Creation Museum” in Petersburg, KY also has a nice display proving the co-habitation.

Relatively few conservatives think the way she does.
BTW, if you want to have some fun with people who think the world is only 6,000 years old, ask them to explain how some visible stars are more than 10,000 light years away. You’ll be amazed at what you hear, if they even understand the question.
But be fair. Such caricatures are almost — not quite, but almost — as bad as citing Charlie Manson as a good example of a liberal.

She does belong to the Republican Party. There is no escaping the connection between radical fundamentalism and the conservative movement.
“as bad as citing Charlie Manson as a good example of a liberal.”
Last time I checked Manson never had any connection to liberalism, but literalistic views on The Bible seem to form the major argument coming from conservatives against gay-marriage / abortion.
I would disagree with your assessment that this is a bad example. It’s a perfect example of how looney some of these Republican Reps are.

Charlie Manson is the poster child of extreme liberalism.

“Charlie Manson is the poster child of extreme liberalism.”
No, Guido, Charlie Manson is a racist who carved a swastika between his eyebrows.
“poor liberals can’t figure out that Nuclear is our best option of eradicating greenhouse gases…”
You’ve managed to convince me that nuclear power has to be part of the solution if we’re ever going to be able to shut down coal plants while still satisfying our national energy demands.

I said Extreme…
actually it really isn’t fair to put all people on a political spectrum, Manson was a crazy fool.
It’s like people that say Jesus was a liberal..Jesus wasn’t a politician…sticking him on a political spectrum scale is disingenuous.
and thanks for taking an honest look at Nuclear, just trying to get everyone else on board.

Who is to say that this current creation is more than 6000 years old? I could be. There could have also been other, older creations that produced dinosaurs. There are many possibilities as to the age of the earth. What I find interesting is that Libs poo poo one estimation and call it factually false while promoting their own estimation as factually correct…. Both are estimations and the factual truth is unknown…
