Right Wing Gloats Over Obama’s Ratings, Forgets Bush’s

bush-approval-historic

Conservatives are taking great glee in Obama’s poll numbers. Former GOPAC political director Peter Roff writes, “Sinking Approval Ratings Are Even Worse Than They Look“.  Drudge headlines “Tracking Poll Hits New Low”, with a link to Rasmussen.  Anthony G. Martin in the Buffalo Examiner says Obama’s numbers “are plummeting faster than a drowning man clutching a razor blade.” This is a man who also wrote that we shouldn’t squelch talk of armed resistance because of one crazy with a gun.

It’s a myth that Obama’s poll numbers are horrible, says Democratic pollster Cornell Belcher.

“The press is …

What It’s Like To Be Black In America

blow.190v

Most of the right-wing Bama Bashers and Gates critics have no idea what it’s like to be anything other than what they are.  In fact, most white people have no clue what it’s like to have the black experience in America.  Charles Blow (r), in the New York Times, knows a bit more about this than your average white person.

A New York Times/CBS News poll conducted last July asked: “Have you ever felt you were stopped by the police just because of your race or ethnic background?” Sixty-six percent of black men said yes. Only 9 percent of …

Michele Bachmann Complains That Health Care Plan Will Be Better And Cheaper

Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, speaking to the Conservative Women’s Network, blasted the idea of a government plan, bellyaching that such an alternative would be more affordable and give better coverage than private plans.  Think Progress recorded the event, where she also told her like-minded audience to “take heart” because Obama is “dropping like a rock.”

Bush Considered Sending Troops Into Buffalo

It would have been an unprecedented use of the military.  In 2002, President Bush considered sending troops into Buffalo to arrest terror suspects.

Vice President Dick Cheney and several other Bush advisers at the time strongly urged that the military be used to apprehend men who were suspected of plotting with al Qaida, who later became known as the Lackawanna Six, the Times reported on its Web site Friday night. It cited former administration officials who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Cooler head prevailed when somone in the administration realized there was something called a Constitution, which prevents using …

Deepak Chopra: Why US Needs To Stop Being A Superpower

chopra

We’ve been the world’s sole superpower for two decades, and it hasn’t been good.

Under the sway of neocon ambitions, in particular, the Bush era was marked by a failed attempt to dominate the globe militarily. Mired in Afghanistan and scarred by Iraq, those ambitions proved to be shameful and foolish. A group of misguided gunslingers led to a catastrophe. Have we come to the point where disillusionment will lead us where we need to go: the end of playing the superpower role?

The Soviet Union is gone. There is no need for us to continue to police …

Obama Invites Gates and Crowley To WH For A Beer

Stepping up to the podium at the White House daily briefing, an unusual move for a president, Barack Obama worked to give further context to his comments about the arrest of Professor Henry Louis Gates.  The president said he spoke by phone with Sgt. James Crowley and invited him, along with Gates, to meet with him for a White House beer.

Here’s The Law Gates Was Accused Of Breaking

gatesyell_01.jpg

The particular section of Massachusetts code that Professor Gates was arrested for violating is explained on Gawker. It’s Chapter 272, Section 53.

Common night walkers, common street walkers, both male and female, common railers and brawlers, persons who with offensive and disorderly acts or language accost or annoy persons of the opposite sex, lewd, wanton and lascivious persons in speech or behavior, idle and disorderly persons, disturbers of the peace, keepers of noisy and disorderly houses, and persons guilty of indecent exposure may be punished by imprisonment in a jail or house of correction for not more than …

Limbaugh: Obama “Is Angry At This Country”

Instead of focusing on health care, much of the media is talking about the arrest of Professor Gates, as obsessions about race trump almost everything else. Bama Bashers will use the president’s response to the issue to keep race front and center, and the subtle message is, “Hey, we have a black president.”

No matter what the president says about it, his detractors will continue to use his initial comments to portray him as anti-cop, which is certainly not true.  Rush Limbaugh told Greta Van Susteren this proves Obama “has a chip on his shoulder” and “is angry at this …

G. Gordon Liddy Thinks We Have An Illegal Alien In The White House

Chris Matthews took on G. Gordon Liddy, who continues to say that no birth certificate has been provided to prove Barack Obama was born in the United States.  Matthews showed Liddy a non-redacted version of the certificate that included a certificate number. He showed an announcement in the Honolulu Advertiser that we’ve published as well.

Liddy went so far as to claim that if it’s true Obama wasn’t born here, and he never went through the naturalization process, we have an illegal alien in the White House.
