RNC head Michael Steele went for three years with no health care, during which time he told his kids, “Don’t break anything because Daddy can’t afford to fix it.” Think Progress reports he’s not sure who his health care provider is.

Each night on radio I get calls from Canadians telling me how happy they are with their system. And I get the occasional call from a naysayer saying Canadians rush to the US for care because they don’t have enough MRI machines. Of course, we forget that whatever Canada’s shortcomings, we have enough of our own. The Seattle Times examines some of the truths and myths here.
Canadian Emily Whitehead and an American friend had babies years ago, then compared notes.
The friend, who lives in Michigan, was in the hospital two or three days. Her bill: more than …

Carrie Prejean will write a book for Regnery to discuss the debacle of her winning and then losing the Miss California USA crown. (via RightWingWatch) The press release says:
Now she will tell her side of the story, answering such questions as what happened behind the scenes at the pageant, why she answered the Perez Hilton question as she did, what really led to her losing the Miss California crown, and how she has been forced to battle the left’s double-standard on free speech and the bias against conservatives—particularly conservative women—who stand up for their beliefs.
One can …

As the US Army is searching 24/7 for captured Pfc. Bowe Bergdahl, “strategic analyist” Ralph Peters is busy calling him a liar and “an apparent deserter.” And he says if this is the case the Taliban should kill him for us. Peters seems to have a problem with what Bergdahl says on the video that’s been circulating, one obviously made under duress.
Peters made his last Liberaland appearance when he said that the military may one day have to attack journalists.…

Writing in The Age, former President Jimmy Carter explains why he’s leaving the Baptist Church.
Women and girls have been discriminated against for too long in a twisted interpretation of the word of God.
I HAVE been a practising Christian all my life and a deacon and Bible teacher for many years. My faith is a source of strength and comfort to me, as religious beliefs are to hundreds of millions of people around the world. So my decision to sever my ties with the Southern Baptist Convention, after six decades, was painful and difficult. It was, however, …

Is this what we signed on for when we elected Barack Obama to get us out of Iraq? Now we are being told by Defense Secretary Robert Gates that the Army will add 22,000 to meet needs in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere around the world.
Gates noted that while progress in Iraq will lead to a reduction in the number of troops there, more troops are needed in Afghanistan because of the worsening violence in that conflict. He said the persistent pace of operations in the two wars over several years has meant a steady increase in the number of …

Operation Rescue founder Randall Terry gets to address the National Press Club this week where he will issue a warning about the consequences of national health care. (h/t RightWingWatch)
“Let all those in government be warned: They cannot order people to pay for the murder of babies, and betray God Himself, without horrific consequences.” — Randall Terry
Terry’s press conference is heralded on Christian Newswire which also uses heated rhetoric in anticipation of a health care plan that would aid women making legal choices in exercising their reproductive rights.
Background: It is clear that many elements in the …

South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford appears to believe that the more often you apologize the better it is. In his preachy Sunday op-ed, he says, “God can make good of our respective wrongs in life. In this vein, while none of us has the chance to attend our own funeral, in many ways I feel like I was at my own in the past weeks, and surprisingly I am thankful for the perspective it has afforded.” Isn’t it time to save this up for a book, or perhaps an Oprah appearance?
Okay, we get it. You learned things like, …
