Norma McCorvey, AKA Jane Roe of Roe v. Wade, regrets that she was the symbol of the pro-choice movement. In 1995, she flipped and became a vehement anti-choice ally of Operation Rescue. Now she has a ministry she calls “Roe No More.” She spoke with me on radio Tuesday night. People for the American Way’s RightWingWatch details the interview.
In it, she explained that she fell asleep during Sen. Al Franken’s remarks (because he was soooooo boooooring) during the opening of Sotomayor’s hearings and then work up and decided to just disrupt the proceedings so she could get her …

The anti-Sotomayor Committee for Justice, founded by C. Boyden Gray, has an ad out suggesting that Sonia Sotomayor is a “radical” just like Bill Ayers. They claim that Obama “has done it again” and that Sotomayor supports violent acts of terror, with absolutely nothing to back it up. (h/t RightWingWatch)

Judiciary Committee ranking Republican Senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama, who grilled Sonia Sotomayor over issues of race, faced a similar grilling in 1986 when he was nominated to a district court. Ironically, past statements of his got him in enough trouble to lose the nomination.
…according to sworn statements by Justice Department lawyers, Sessions called the NAACP and the American Civil Liberties Union “communist inspired” and said they tried to “force civil rights down the throats of people.” Sessions reportedly said of the Ku Klux Klan that he “used to think they’re OK” until he learned that some Klan …

In today’s Washington Post Sarah Palin says she is against cap and trade, repeatedly calling it “Tax and Trade.” In fact, contrary to what Palin states, Cap and Trade would benefit lower income Americans. She writes:
The Americans hit hardest will be those already struggling to make ends meet.
Andrew Sullivan notes that less wealthy Americans actually benefit.
Cap and trade creates revenue, which can be used to mitigate the costs for consumers. When the Congressional Budget Office did its analysis of the distribution of the costs and benefits of the House’s cap and trade bill, it found …

U.S. Army Maj. Stefan Frederick Cook is fighting orders to go to Afghanistan because he believes President Obama wasn’t born in the United States.
Cook’s lawyer, Orly Taitz (right), who has also challenged the legitimacy of Obama’s presidency in other courts, filed a request last week in federal court seeking a temporary restraining order and status as a conscientious objector for his client.
In the 20-page document — filed July 8 with the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia — the California-based Taitz asks the court to consider granting his client’s request based upon Cook’s belief …

While Sonia Sotomayor is being criticized for her “wise Latina” comment, her critics are ignoring similar statements made by their favored nominees.
Laura Gomez, professor of law and American studies at the University of New Mexico, breaks down Sotomayor’s remark. Professor Gomez reminds us of the National Review cover “where cartoonists apparently could not quite fathom a wise Latina judge, choosing to portray Sotomayor as a Buddha with Asian features.” Gomez was a speaker at the conference where the statement was made.
Part of the impetus for the conference was to signal the potential crisis for our courts in the …

That would be Calvin Heighton. Although, I must say my callers are getting more and more insane.
The best part of the show for me, however, is when Alan becomes indignant at the loons that call his show. He can more than hold his own against them and the more goofy and bigotted the caller is the more interesting the show is. Maybe its just me. I hope its doesn’t stop anytime soon. This is the kind of debate and back and forth that talk radio was invented for.
And I do sometimes wonder if we ought to …

The next time Sarah Palin or one of her defenders complains about how her family is being treated, note the Free Republic website and the things it publishes about Barack Obama’s children.
“A typical street whore.” “A bunch of ghetto thugs.” “Ghetto street trash.” “Wonder when she will get her first abortion.”
These are a small selection of some of the racially-charged comments posted to the conservative ‘Free Republic’ blog Thursday, aimed at U.S. President Barack Obama’s 11-year-old daughter Malia after she was photographed wearing a t-shirt with a peace sign on the front.
The thread was accompanied …
