Carrie Prejean Accuses Pageant Of Religious Discrimination
Former Miss California Carrie Prejean is claiming she was forced out of her position because of religious discrimination.
Prejean just filed the suit in L.A. County Superior Court, accusing [former pageant director Shanna] Moakler and pageant honcho Keith Lewis of religious discrimination, defamation, public disclosure of private facts, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligent infliction of emotional distress.
Prejean claims the Miss Cali people “conspired to get rid of her” beginning on April 21st — when she said on the “Today” show that she would rather be “biblically correct than politically correct.”
The suit also says that pageant “fabricated a fraudulent list of some 50 public appearances allegedly missed by Prejean which they released to the media in order to justify her termination as Miss California USA.” It also claims that officials tried to “set up Prejean” to be fired by asking her to do a Playboy shoot for $120,000.
Prejean had to defend herself in the past when revealing photos were discovered, blaming a photographer who she said abused her trust when he released pictures that were taken between posed shots. At the time, she said it was gusts of wind that accounted for certain parts of her being exposed. There is also a series of emails between Prejean and pageant official Keith Lewis where she seemed suspicious of the pageant’s motives and would not make accommodations to attend certain meetings.Click here for reuse options!
