More Troops Possible For Afghanistan

james-jones-national-security-advisor-photo.preview

National Security Advisor Jim Jones wouldn’t rule out sending more troops to Afghanistan on “Fox News Sunday.”  But just a month ago Jones told commanders in Afghanistan that more troops was not an option.

Jim Jones, the President’s National Security Adviser, warned American commanders in Afghanistan a month ago that no more troops would be forthcoming and that the strategy should focus on economic development. “If that is not done right, there are not enough troops in the world to succeed,” he said.

But US Commander in Afghanistan, General Stanley McChrystal, has called for more troops, as have Senators …

Alan Keyes Fears Obama Dissenters Will Be Put In Insane Asylums

AlanKeyes

Alan Keyes says we shouldn’t be surprised at Obama’s attempt to seize totalitartian control of the country since he was “schooled” by “communists like Saul Alinsky.”  Since Alinsky was a communist, and communists ruled the Soviet Union, Keyes’s reasoning goes, those who oppose Obama will be handled the way they treated dissidents in the Soviet Union.

Given what they are doing as they battle to gain and consolidate totalitarian control of our country, we have good cause to fear what they will do once their objective has been achieved. I cannot help but recall that as part of the …

America: How Dumb Are We?

story

Bill Maher gives some statistics.  It’s not pretty (via Americablog).

And before I go about demonstrating how, sadly, easy it is to prove the dumbness dragging down our country, let me just say that ignorance has life and death consequences. On the eve of the Iraq War, 69% of Americans thought Saddam Hussein was personally involved in 9/11. Four years later, 34% still did. Or take the health care debate we’re presently having: members of Congress have recessed now so they can go home and “listen to their constituents.” An urge they should resist because their constituents don’t know …

Was Texas Congressman Randy Neugebauer Born In The US?

Randy_Neugebauer

He probably was, but you’d never know it by this birther’s refusal to provide his birth certificate.  Politico asked 11 House representatives whose names are on the birther bill to provide their own birth certificates, but the terse response from Neugebauer’s office was, “Congressman Neugebauer will not be submitting a copy of his birth certificate.” (h/t Think Progress)

Reps. John Culberson of Texas and Bob Goodlatte of Virginia win the prize, for e-mailing digital versions of their certificates. Here’s Goodlatte’s, with an address redacted by us.

Reps. Kenny Marchant of Texas, Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee, and Dan …

Democratic Congressman’s Life Threatened Over Health Care

brad-miller-caption-dc

Congressman Brad Miller of North Carolina received threatening calls in his DC and Raleigh offices.

“The call to the D.C. office was, ‘Miller could lose his life over this,’” said [Communications Director LuAnn] Canipe. “Our staffer took it so seriously, he confirmed what the guy was saying. He said, ‘Sir is that a threat?’ and at that time our staffer was getting the phone number off caller ID and turning it over to the Capitol Police.”

With violence already having reared its ugly head at town hall events, Congressman Miller is smart to keep his meetings one-on-one, and shun …

Palin Says Obama’s “Death Panel” Could Decide Fate Of Her Down Syndrome Baby

On her Facebook page, former Alaska governor Sarah Palin says the future of the sick, the elderly, and the disabled will be determined by an Obama “death panel.”

The Democrats promise that a government health care system will reduce the cost of health care, but as the economist Thomas Sowell has pointed out, government health care will not reduce the cost; it will simply refuse to pay the cost. And who will suffer the most when they ration care? The sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course. The America I know and love is not one in which …

Mark Sanford’s long-suffering wife Jenny (right, in yellow) will move out of the governor’s mansion in Columbia for a place in Charleston. She says,  “From there we will continue to work on the process of healing our family.”

Mrs. Sanford’s announcement came two days after the couple returned from a two-week vacation in Europe with their sons. The family also traveled together over the Fourth of July weekend to visit Mrs. Sanford’s parents in Florida, and the couple traveled again later that month.

Town Halls Gone Wild

Town hall meetings are now being defined by violence and arrests.  In St. Louis, six people, including a Post-Dispatch reporter were arrested at an event by Congressman Russ Carnahan.

Two of the people were arrested on suspicion of assault, one of resisting arrest and three on suspicion of committing peace disturbances, police say.

The forum drew an overflow crowd of several hundred to Bernard Middle School gym in south St. Louis County. Dozens of people, many carrying signs about the health care debate, were kept out because of the turnout. The back and forth between factions within the …

Meet The Anti Health Reform Organizers Behind The Town Hall Disruptors

One of the key organizers against health care reform is Rick Scott, who heads a group called “Conservatives for Patients’ Rights.”  Scott ran Columbia/HCA, which was fined $1.7 billion for fraud, the highest amount ever charged.  Scott urges people to go to town hall meetings to confront those favoring national health care, and the ads he puts out denouncing health care systems in Canada and the UK are handled by the same PR firm that worked for the Swift Boat Vets.

Conservatives hate that anything they don’t approve of might be accomplished with their hard-earned tax dollars, but ironically, …
