The US Senate confirmed Sonia Sotomayor to be the first Hispanic justice on the Supreme Court.  The vote was 68-31, showing sharp ideological divisions.

The American Psychological Association is telling health care professionals not to advise gay clients that they can become straight via therapy.  Instead, they say, try celibacy or switch churches.

Thirty death threats a day against President Obama are stretching the resources of the Secret Service.
