More Loaded Guns At Obama Events

Just as occurred in New Hampshire, an Obama event in Phoenix had protestors with loaded guns.  About a dozen gun-toting citizens, one with a military-style rifle, were outside the convention center where Obama was addressing the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

A man, who decided not to give his name, was walking around the pro-health care reform rally at Third and Washington streets, with a pistol on his hip and an AR-15 (a semi-automatic assault weapon) on a strap over his shoulder.

“Because I can do it,” he said when asked why he was armed. “In Arizona, I …

“Joe The Plumber” Says Pelosi Is The Kind Of Person He’d “Beat The Livin’ Tar Out Of”

Speaking to the right-wing “Americans for Prosperity,” not-Joe the non-licensed plumber called Nancy Pelosi a liar, misstated that she called people like him “un-American” (she said drowning out opposing views is un-American), and seemed to advocate violence as a way of handling conflict resolution.

Two Candidates To Watch

Michele-Bachmann-DC

Michele Bachmann says she’ll run for president if God wants her to. And Orly Taitz, the attorney/dentist who is one of the leading voices in the birther movement, says she may run for office.

WorldNetDaily profiles the Minnesota congresswoman in a loving article.

She began her political career simply, as a Christian mom concerned about the content of school papers her children brought home in their backpacks, but today she has become one of the leading defenders of liberty and conservative principles on Capitol Hill.

Bachmann believes health care reform is the opposite of freedom.”Americans have got to melt …

Don’t Blame Republicans, Blame Democrats For Lack Of Progress

It’s not the fault of Republicans that Democrats, with the White House and overwhelming majorities in both the House and the Senate, can’t reform health care in a truly progressive manner.  Didn’t we hear that “if only” they could get to that magic number 60 in the Senate, all would be wine and roses?

While Democrats dominate the political landscape as No More Mister Nice Blog writes, many of them don’t identify as liberals.

A big problem here is that this is what happens when hardly any high-profile Democrat will stick up for the word “liberal” or the notion of …

Tom DeLay To Be On “Dancing With The Stars”

You’d think if “The Hammer” were to be on “Dancing With The Stars,” the first initials would be M.C.  Now, after his role as majority whip, it’s he who will have to keep himself in line.

racistairforceone

A North Canton, Ohio police dispatcher thought this was so funny she couldn’t contain herself and just had to resend what she deemed an hilarious image of Air Force One. (h/t Think Progress)

“New “Air Force One” Tail Number and yes, please forgive me, I’m really sorry, I really, really tried not to laugh, but …………………..!”

More Health Care Compromises: With Dems Like These Who Needs Reps?

kent-conrad

When are Democrats going to stop letting Republicans railroad them?  Now comes word that the White House is ready to abandon its attempt to give Americans a government option on health care.

Facing mounting opposition to the overhaul, administration officials left open the chance for a compromise with Republicans that would include health insurance cooperatives. Such a concession is likely to enrage his liberal supporters but could deliver Obama a much-needed win on a top domestic priority opposed by GOP lawmakers.

Compromise is one thing, but the idea of a government plan that would compete with private insurance carriers …

British Women Duped Into Appearing In Anti-Reform Ad

Conservatives for Patients Rights, the the anti-reform group run by Rick Scott (whose company, Columbia/HCA, was fined $1.7 billion for fraud), features “true stories” of British citizens who appear to be against government-run health care.  Yet two of the women who appear in the ad say they were “duped” into doing so, and that it doesn’t represent their views, reports Think Progress.

As the Daily Mail reports, Kate Spall and Katie Brickell are appalled at how their points of view were twisted.

Ms. Spall said she was horrified by how the CPR had used her words.

‘What I …

Obama Makes His Case In Op-Ed

obama650

Using anecdotes to underscore the argument, President Obama has an op-ed in Sunday’s New York Times explaining the need for health care reform.

Lori is currently self-employed and trying to start a business, but because she has hepatitis C, she cannot find an insurance company that will cover her. Another woman testified that an insurance company would not cover illnesses related to her internal organs because of an accident she had when she was 5 years old. A man lost his health coverage in the middle of chemotherapy because the insurance company discovered that he had gallstones, which he …

Paul Krugman: Time For Passion And Outrage

It doesn’t matter what Obama, or any Democrat does–but especially Obama.  Paul Krugman aptly points out that you can’t appease the crazies.  Krugman warned all along it would be the case that…

…any Democrat who made it to the White House would face “an unending procession of wild charges and fake scandals, dutifully given credence by major media organizations that somehow can’t bring themselves to declare the accusations unequivocally false.”

So, how’s it going?

Sure enough, President Obama is now facing the same kind of opposition that President Bill Clinton had to deal with: an enraged right …
