OMG! Obama Is Going To Talk To Our Kids!
Conservatives are going nuts with fear that Obama is going to indoctrinate young children when he speaks next week about the importance of education and staying in school. Family Research Council President Tony Perkins falsely claims that Obama has done nothing on education. Michelle Malkin alarms with, “the left has always used kids in public schools as guinea pigs and as junior lobbyists for their social liberal agenda.” And my beloved sister-in-law, Monica Crowley, said last night on O’Reilly’s show (guest-hosted by Laura Ingraham) that “just when you think this administration can’t get any more surreal and Orwellian, here they come to indoctrinate our kids”, adding, “This is what Chairman Mao did, Laura. This is like Max Headroom, this is going into every single classroom. There is no escape from him.”
Ingraham introduces the topic by saying that Obama is “going to do something that no other president has done. He is going to be speaking directly to school children in classrooms across the United States…”

You mean indoctrinate the kids like…
Insisting on the teaching of Intelligent Design?
Or passing out Bibles during class?
Or insisting on Christian prayer during school-sponsored events and operations?
Like, THAT kind of indoctrination?

George Bush read “The Pet Goat” to kids during the 9/11 attacks.
Osama bin Laden made reference to the story in a videotaped speech released just prior to the 2004 U.S. presidential election, claiming that Bush’s reading of the book had given the hijackers more than enough time to carry out the attacks.

Yes, I think that other Presidents have spoken to children in the past. Though I think this is the first conversation that is being requested to be heard by all kids in school. Even with that, I think that I am okay with Obama speaking to the kids and will give him the benefit of the doubt as to his topics.

Easy question. Try harder if your trying to stump me.
The ‘fact’ that Obama was going to indoctrinate kids in this broadcast. That’s horse-crud and she knows it.
If people are going to get educated and then go on TV where all us ‘normal folks’ can see they better at least try to stick to the facts. And when they don’t they should be called out for lying and being less an American.
The reason why people like yourself freak out when I speak my mind is because you are so adapted to hearing BS from people like Crowley that when someone stands up to call it BS and call that person a partisan pundit with nothing but propaganda to spread that sounds so ‘radical’ you can’t stand it. But it’s the truth.
I’m not here to forever defend the Dems but you bet I’ll defend the truth and there is one group in this society and in this media that have a problem with the facts: The Conservatives.
Nobody should get away with lying about the President of The United States and that’s exactly what Crowley did and what all these jokers on FOX News do all day.
They are a disgrace of a network and even the tiniest bit of honesty from them would change my view of the network forever.
what can I say? Lying sells more ads than telling the truth. especially when your touting the party line of a conquered political party full of people looking to blame someone else for their mutual failures as a movement.

What agenda? Keeping American interests strong and keeping the nation safe? That agenda? On that one they should help him, if they can. We all should.

I really think you have ‘jumped the shark’ on this, Bernie.
This is not some kind of enforced hero worship and this whole idea that the president has ill begotten motives is founded in the crux of the AM dial and the cable news tragedy that is FOX News. These people lie about the president daily and it’s a testament to American Values that we don’t cancel their whole network for the crimes against the public they commit everyday.
This is benign. To the extreme.
If any one of these children feel ‘connected’ to Obama and go home they will talk about with their parents. And their parents will then ‘indoctrinate’ their own child any which way they want.
I track this down to conservatives are scared of the truth about Obama getting out.
If people realize that he is not a Marxist, socialist or a infanticide-ist then that would mean that Bill O’Reilly lied. And if O’Reilly is a liar then the world is upside-down.

Tell me where a conservative admitted he or she was wrong on a topic where he/she discussed or opined in a public forum.
Sanford’s confession of guilt is not an admission of being wrong. An example of being wrong would be, for example, to admit that the decision to invade Iraq was wrong(am not trying to argue the decision to invade Iraq was wrong, here; Just point me to any 1 such admission).

Have you ever a retraction on FOX NEWS?

“Now this is just my opinion and I could be wrong.”

“This is my partisan perspective on Obama / Democrats.”

Well, lets start with some simple things.
Warmup questions:
The panda can eat only cane; Further, it doesnt have the ability to digest its food completely, so it has to eat all day to survive. Why did God make Pandas the way God did?
Dogs love the taste of chocolate; Chocolate is poisonous for dogs. Why did god make dogs that way?
Why did he create the Dodo so “unintelligent” it had no chance of surviving?
(The warmup round can get extended with similar apparent basic design errors, but hopefully these give you the idea).
Now, for the big one: The 64000$ question, as Bill would say.
IF he created us to be the shepherd of the animals, we’ve shown ourselves to be very poor shepherds; We have the ability to “take care” of 1 or 2 animals at a time, but we’re obviously piss-poor at being a shepherd for the animal kingdom. So, couldnt he have designed a better shepherd, IF he wanted US to be the shepherd of the animal kingdom?
Celticwitch Reply:

Morning Karth, I dunno, is this all a trick questions? I quess Andy Panda love the taste of Bambos?
Dogs do love the taste of chocolate, and I do know that Blueberries are also poisonous to dogs. My one cat loves juices, such as Cranberry juice. One of my cats loves Watermellon and crackers.
One cat of mine loved pastries and another loved bananas.
I have three cats, a dove and a rat, no dog though. Did have one of them a year ago, but she died.
For your last question which can be a tad bit tricky. Are you talking about the Animal kingdom or the people kingdom? Taking care of all the people in the world? Giving help to others when the US can’t take care of its own? It is just a thought. Helping others get democracy when we cannot fix our own?
As for animals, they can survive whether we take care of them or not. They are more resourcful than humans.

The topic was “God makes mistakes”: I claimed that, JFA asked me for examples.
Re Pandas :they have to eat all the time, because of their inability to fully digest the only thing they can eat; Surely, if I designed my computer programs this way,I would be called an inefficient programmer.
The last question: I was on the animal kingdom, and it relates to the Genesis story; It is religion specific, but I can point you to pretty much any religious belief system, and the only way it can be consistent is if the belief system has the assumption “God also makes mistakes”.

and I was taught in Sunday School that God is perfect, no wonder I am a Pagan. Hell Karthi think I made some sense in my comment also, we help the world, but never could help us in the US.
Biblical: I remember one, God helps those who help themself. I guess anyone can take it one way or another. As for Shepherds taking care of their flock. Karth that actually can be taken two ways, Man will watch over all of Gods creatures and Man will watch over their Congregation. However anyone takes it, I believe it is both right. Minister, Priest, Rabbi’s all watch over their people, as for the Shepherd watching over their flocks, well wouldn’t there be more than one to watch over God’s Creatures?

“well wouldn’t there be more than one to watch over God’s Creatures?”
CW: What’s the point in having an incompetent watchman watching over God’s creatures?(That was my question).
“and I was taught in Sunday School that God is perfect, no wonder I am a Pagan”
Well, I need to know the belief system to be able to make an argument “God is not perfect” within your system. You know it best, tell me, other than what you were taught at Sunday school, what does your belief system reflect, about God’s actions, do they come across as perfect to you?

Well Man was suppose to be made in God’s image, so man is not PERFECT, so I would guess God is not perfect. Some religions teach to fear God, My Husband is a Catholic, he went to a Parochial School up until Ninth Grade. He was taught that if you don’t listen you will be strike down. I was a Lutheran, we were taught if you make mistakes you learn from your mistakes. Well we are humans and humans are very imperfect. We constantly are making many mistakes.
All of the Biblical characters, you will see from Adam all way down and into the New Testament, there were always sons watching over their flocks. I am baffled also about why we have to have many people watching over God’s creatures. Like I also said, All animals have that survival instinct. They actually can survive without man.

“Well Man was suppose to be made in God’s image”
Is that the Pagan belief system? I was asking about the Pagan belief system’s conception of God(in the context of the discussion topic of course, my contention that “God makes mistakes”).
“so man is not PERFECT, so I would guess God is not perfect”
IF man was created in God’s image, then yes, that’s proof that God isnt perfect, and God (ought to) make mistakes too, logically.
By the way,I dont follow the above belief system, so I dont quite agree with the man being created “in god’s image” part. But that’s my individual belief system, is not relevant for the topic discussed.
” All animals have that survival instinct. They actually can survive without man.”
That I agree with. However, regardless of whether God intended man to be their shepherd or not, you eventually run into the imperfect design of God.
I was just addressing one belief system at the time I posed the “64000$ question”.

I apologize to you Karth, I misunderstood you. As for a god, in the Pagan belief, there are many gods and goddesses. Each God or Goddess will represent a sabbats. Bridget is first with her day, February 2. She represents fertility, up until Yule the death of the Mother Goddess who will give birth to the God. The Green Man, he takes over, to reknew life on the Earth. In the Pagan beliefs, the gods and goddesses were perfect, the same as man and woman.
Karth you are a Hindu and I do respect your belief, the same as you repect mine. Shiva is part of the Hindu belief or not. Budha, Catholics, Protestants, Judism and Islam all have their beliefs Karth. I had seen a Hindu wedding, very beautiful Karth, did not understand it, but the symbolism is beautiful.

Nah, that wasnt a mistake. People being what they are isnt a mistake. The mistake was in giving human beings a code of conduct they were too dumb to interpret the way God (IMHO) meant it.

they can’t even hide their hate and fear of Blacks anymore. Even Blacks who are half white. They are trying to provoke someone to do something to our President. Treasonous and Demonic

And my beloved sister-in-law, Monica Crowley, said last night on O’Reilly’s show (guest-hosted by Laura Ingraham) that “just when you think this administration can’t get any more surreal and Orwellian, here they come to indoctrinate our kids. ~ Alan.
Alan,
How do you deal with your sister-in-law when she just out and out plain lies about the topic? The young children, especially the young black children – what a wonderful role model our President is for these kids.

It is really astounding isn’t it Alex ?
They could actually change the name Republican party, to Orwellian party and it would be rather fitting, in my opinion.

They are truly awful.

Detroit schools aren’t airing it? Get this:
“Districts throughout the suburbs have been hit with complaints from parents who are worried about their children hearing a message from Obama that they won’t have a chance to preview.”
You’ve GOT to be joking. This parental attitude can’t get any more creepy.

And this coming from Detroit? This is insane! We’ve never had this kind of thing happen with any other president. What is wrong with these parents?? Where was the outrage when Bush was reading “My Pet Goat” (or in his case, looking at the pictures) while we were under attack? Is this what we have become? A nation of whiners about stupid stuff like the teabaggers, birthers, deathers? Where does it end?

Actually,
I remember this sort of thing during the Clinton presidency.
Refusing to participate in ethics discussions and refusing sex ed., boycotting the library, that sort of thing.
I’d have to dig deeper for specifics, but I remember some hullaballoo around schools.
My kids were in school in the nineties.
Anything and everything is evil around Democrat presidents. It’s in the Republican playbook.

AJ, the Republicans feels they are the only ones WHO can run this country. Well the next Republican President, maybe we should use their tactics. OH wait, we are honest people.
September 4th, 2009 at 12:22 pm
Since when did GOP parents keep their children home from school, for fear that they’ll be “indoctrinated” with a sense of responsibility, goals and persistence?!
“Teachers might conduct a “listening with purpose” exercise based on the following ideas: personal responsibility, goals, and persistence. Teachers might ask pairs of students to create a word bank at the top of a notes page that has been divided into two columns. On the right‐hand side, students could take notes (trying to capture direct quotations or main ideas) while President Obama talks about personal responsibility, goals, or persistence. At the end of the speech, students could write the corresponding terms from the word bank in the left‐hand column, to increase retention and deepen their understanding of an important aspect of the speech.”

When I was younger, I remember a police officer coming in my class and talking about not taking things from strangers. This was in the early 60’s, now where is this any different than what many Important people have said through out the decades.

Hiya, Celticwitch, I’m still around for a bit. I don’t go anywhere most holiday weekends. I prefer to travel at times when most of the country ISN’T clogging the highways (safer that way) and airways (less delays). So how are you, tonight? And how is your son, if you don’t mind me asking, that is?
Celticwitch Reply:

I don’t travel much, nothing like I done when I was younger. My son is doing alright, still not out of the woods, and I don’t mind at you asking. Like any head trauma it takes time to heal. My husband and daughter are watching horror movies. They love to get scared. Me I get scared by the Republican Party :)

“My husband and daughter are watching horror movies. They love to get scared.”
I don’t, and usually these movies are a waste of time for me, because I can never forget that they are just movies. I DO remember ten years ago how thinking about the final scene of The Blair Witch Project made my arms get goosepimples all the next day! But I like things like romance, comedy, adventure, fantasy, history, science, science fiction, stuff like that. Even some religious movies like The Ten Commandments and Quo Vadis, though I’m hardly a Bible-thumper or anything; just enjoy good drama.
“Me I get scared by the Republican Party :)”
THAT I understand…:-)
