  1. All right! A live Labor Day show!
(Happy Labor Day, Ellis! And I had to work today, too.)

  2. I know how ya feel LibPatriot.I worked today also.

Yeah, Bob, but thanks to the efforts of our country’s unions (though I’m not in one myself) for all the working people, I got paid time-and-a-half! It all helps, and I’m grateful, for many people got beaten, bled, and some even died to give our country’s workers decent benefits. Can’t ever forget that, and I’m glad we have a Labor Day to help us remember!

what type of work do you do Lib Patriot
I am a member of a union, The UBC “United brotherhood of Carpenters”local1977 Las Vegas, Nevada

Vegasman, while I have a degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Biology, there hasn’t been work for me lately in this still-fragile economy, and such work is often seasonal and for a state agency or the federal government when it does happen for me. So I work for a small restaurant right now, where they treat us like family, and do part-time work at banquet events around Tucson. I felt in the interest of honest disclosure I should admit I’m not in a union, but I deeply respect what unions have done to raise our living standards all the same. The Employee Free Choice Act needs to be passed; that’s another big battle we have ahead of us.
What I said to Bob, Celticwitch, and Craig7120 and to people in general here, I don’t want to forget to say to you: you have every right to be proud of what you’re a part of standing up for working people’s rights. And, of course, HAPPY LABOR DAY!

  3. If would’ve worked today it would have been triple time for me. by the way who came up with Labor Day
    Peter J. McGuire

Peter J. McGuire–a true American whose efforts continue to make our working lives better today than would be the case if he hadn’t lived and struggled for union success. Thanks for the link, Vegasman!

  4. Hi Lib, and all, “Happy Labor Day” I finished Laboring for the day :)

Good for you, Jazmine, now’s the moment for you to savor your well-earned quality time of the day! Hope it’s gotten happier for you already…..:-)

    Ohhh Yaaa:)

  5. Mr. Rogers was not an “Army sniper with 33 confirmed kills to his credit”

    http://www.snopes.com/radiotv/tv/mrrogers.asp

Mr. Rogers was only … Mr. Rogers.

  6. Not sure why you brought Mr. Rogers into this mix…but yeehaw… I’ve always liked him. And I’m certainly glad he wasn’t an Army snipper with 333 kills>

    jazmine Reply:

    hee hee…oops!

    Nite all!

Huh? A caller claimed Mr. Rogers was an Army sniper in Korea, with 33 kills. But, it’s nonsense. Mr. Rogers went from high school to college to working. The caller probably got the tip in an anonymous, chain email. ;)

The Teletubbies were a CIA assassination squad, back in the 80s. You probably haven’t heard that before and “Joel” isn’t going to find a denial of it on Snopes.

Tinky-Winky (the purple Teletubby) specialized in assassination by the garrote. He was a silent, patriotic killing machine.

I don’t get those radio channels, besides I have no time.

But thanks for filling me in on Mr. Rogers and teletubbies, tinky-winky…who, I have no idea about. You must have young ones to know the latest toon characters.

The young ones in my hood are not allowed to watch TV… Maybe only Olde Yeller!

What happened Mouse, did you happen to hide beneath a piece of cheese???????

    anonymouse Reply:

I only listen on XM. I can’t get much am/fm radio here, it’s all too static-ee.

My first exposure to the Teletubbies was when my brother’s little ones showed up one day and “had” to tune them in. I’d think watching water boil or paint dry would have more educational/entertainment value but … what do I know compared to pre-schoolers.

It was only when I found out about the Teletubbies CIA assassination squad past that I was finally impressed by them. You can’t judge a book by its cover.

  7. Too sad for you, certainly.

But, I have to disagree that one can’t judge a book by it’s cover… I personally don’t read Haliquim {sic} romance bull****. I don’t even know how to spell it…lol

I prefer much more factional info and if there’s some sexual connotation in the factual…Yippee, if you know what I mean.

    :)

Oh, never mind, I’m listening to tunes…heeeeeeeeheeeeeeeeee:)

  8. Could have done with less football talk on the radio show last night, but maybe that’s just me.

  9. http://open.salon.com/blog/eric_lightborn/2009/09/08/obama_is_not_perfect

Well this is the first fully negative thing I’ve ever posted about Obama.

And unlike some unpatriotic … people … I stuck to the issue and didn’t use slander as a standard of debate.

    libpatriot Reply:

It’s true, Eric, that Obama and the pro-reform Dems need to promote what their plan DOES instead of playing so much defense on what their plan does NOT do. Got to give people reasons to support it, after all.
