GOP Birther To Give Reponse To Obama Speech

September 9th, 2009, 2:16 PM EDT

GOP Congressman Charles Boustany of Louisiana, who can’t bring himself around to admit that President Obama was born in the United States, has been selected by the Republican leadership to give their official response to Obama’s health care speech. Boustany tried to avoid talking about this to Mike Stark, when Stark made the rounds on Capitol Hill getting representatives on record about Obama’s birthplace.

Stark asks, “What do you personally believe though, I mean, do you think there’s a question here [about Obama's birth certificate]?”

Boustany’s response? “I think there are questions. We’ll have to see.”

Questions? Questions about where Obama was born? Still? We’ll have to see? See what? A birth certificate?

  1. I must give RDM credit for this observation, that “Obama birthers” and “9/11 truthers” are equally nutty people, just on opposite ends of the political spectrum. Right on both points, RDM!

“just on opposite ends of the political spectrum”

Aren’t a lot of the 9/11 Truthers Ron Paul acolytes? I myself like Ron Paul, so that’s not a slam, but I wouldn’t necessarily say all the 9/11 truthers are extreme libs, if that’s what you mean by the opposite end. Many are probably conservative/libertarian/apolitical.

I’m not sure why this birther movement exists. I know most of you immediately cry racism, but it ain’t that…Alan Keyes (a hero of mine, btw) is one of the people who got it going. I think he and all the rest of these folk are way off base. There’s not a shred of evidence that supports it, and I agree that it’s another conspiracy theory akin to 9/11 or Bilderbeck ruling the world or whatever the heck it is.

Target Obama on policy, not conspiracies.

In slight defense of these people, a response like “I think there are questions. We’ll have to see.” is a fancy way of not saying much at all. If someone said that about 9/11, would you call them a Truther?

    Not necessarily.

Flap, I admit RDM was being paraphrased by myself in the above post, rather than being directly quoted.

  2. Yep,

Gredit where credit is due RDM.

Good choice by the republicans, he he he.

  3. I can hardly wait to hear Mr. Boustany’s enlightening response. Maybe I will just go and slam my hand in my car door repeatedly instead.

This guy is what the mute button on my remote is for. :)
