Teabagger Co-sponsor Warns Of Pitchforks, Guns, Civil War And Revolution

September 12th, 2009, 3:37 PM EDT

Think Progress references some of the groups which paid $10,000 to Freedomworks for the privilege of sponsoring Saturday’s teabagger events. The radical fringe elements it is attracting should be of great concern to peace-loving and democracy-loving Americans. They seem to forget that an election less than a year ago put a different set of people in power. The majority made a choice. But their way of fighting back is something to be wary about. While they are calling for vigilance against the “liberals” in our government, it is the forces of Democracy that need to be vigilant against them.

Many of these groups…were pivotal in providing assistance (talking points, event lists, signs) to attendees of rowdy town halls in August and anti-Obama tea party protests. Encouraging anger and intimidation against lawmakers supporting health care reform was part of the strategy.

But for the 9/12 march, there appears to be a shift towards a more radical coalition. The official sponsorship list reveals a subterranean, extreme element of the American right in attendance. The National Association for Rural Landowners, a bronze sponsor, references the incidents at Waco and Ruby Ridge to call for attacks on “government entities” and liberals. In a YouTube video posted in July [see below], the group makes the case for a secession, followed by a violent civil war. Similarly, another 9/12 cosponsor, FreeRepublic, is a forum for various radical right causes. As ThinkProgress reported, the shooter at the Holocaust museum found a welcome audience for his writings on the website.

Despite the inclusion of such anti-government extremists, Rep. Tom Price (R-GA), Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN), Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-GA), and Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) plan to attend and speak.

The video referenced above by The National Association of Rural Landowners, headed by Ron Ewart (right),  warns of a coming civil war. It claims that the UN dictates America’s policy on foreign aid; that our government is forcing us to be charitable to other countries “at the point of a gun.”  It asks, “How do you like government telling you what to eat, what to wear, where to live, where to work, or what to drive? How do you like their plan to shut us all into big cities?…How do you like your government sticking their fingers into public schools and mandating socialism, radical environmentalism, multiculturalism and the one-world order?”

But that is only the warm-up.  After that it gets serious:

“How do you like the fact that the injustices that were being inflicted on the colonials  in 1776 that caused them to revolt against England are now the very same injustices Americans are being accosted with by their own government?”

“Which of the injustices we are now enduring will be the trigger that will send a large percentage of those [brave] Americans [who are saying 'enough is enough'] over the edge and declare civil war against the non-producers?…The hard truth is we are headed for a civil war.

“As the liberals in the current administration squeeze Americans with their socialist, radical environmental and one-world-0rder agenda, as they work toward dismantling our Constitution, small armed revolts will begin to appear in isolated areas…There will be attacks by individuals on government institutions as more and more folks let their growing frustrations morph into violent acts.  There will be individual and multiple violent attacks on illegal aliens. “

“[Eventually] the government will declare martial law and will suspend Constitutional protections.  All these things will come to pass in one form or another…”

“Although we are being civil now, our civility is straining at the leashAfter civility and calls for the redress of grievances that aren’t answered, comes massive protests and the potential breakdown in civil order.  After massive protests will come the secession of states. After the secession of states will come the pitchforks.  And after the pitchforks will come the guns. After the guns will come civil war our outright revolution.

No, they didn’t forget. THEY DON’T CARE! They have no respect for the rule of law or anything else that doesn’t serve their own ends, and if they can find enough people with enough guns and the chops to act instead of just bloviate like retards they will stage an armed revolt and try to remove Democrats from the White House and the Congress by violence.

These are not patriots. They aren’t Americans. The constitution is just a piece of paper and anything they don’t agree with is obviously the result of liberal commie gay atheist Jew black Muslim arab Democrat infiltration. And they’ve got all the proof they need right in the “holy bible.”

  6. If it’s going to be civil war, bring it on. It will be the world, against the American conservatives party. If you think the rest of the world’s is going to go the way of the conservatives party, the way that they are going now, then you are up in the night. I agree with Alan, the American people has spoken and we’ve put progress thinking people in power. To bring to free Americans, the freedom we deserve from the depression power of the profit hungry health insurance companies. The conservatives party is full of hate and destruction, and wants to destroy the working people of America by keeping them from establishing an equal lawful place in America. That the rich and powerful have today.

If you read this you will find in the Constitution a reference to health care. I would like to get my country back from the profit hungry health insurance companies. And give to America and Americans the freedom we deserve.

    Article 1 section 8 reads.

  7. Funny how right wing loons didn’t warn of a violent revolution when Bush stole our freedoms, invaded sovereign nations and engaged in illegal torture approvals.

But when a Democrat and a black man gets in office and we try to get people health care who don’t have it … that’s the time to start loading their guns…

Seems to me … they are lying.

This is pure and simple hatred for American Values and American Government that is founded not on facts but on partisanship, bigotry and / or racism.

These people should be ashamed of themselves.

    Rocky the Liberal Rottweiler Reply:

    It’s Corporate-funded hatred.

    phillipd Reply:

It’s beyond that. These people are absolutely the American version of the Taliban or worse. A minority that seeks to extort, threaten, or even institute violence as a means of obtaining what they want sure sounds like homegrown terrorism to me.

After making myself watch some of the coverage on C-span of the teabagger’s one guy was even introduced as a “hero to white America”. That gives an insight into the minds of these folks.

Funny, in their rambling tirades about the government today, I didn’t hear a single one say we should abolish agricultural welfare, or farm price supports. Hmmmmmm. Nor did they mind the farm to market roads paid for by the government, or the rural electrification projects paid for by taxpayers either, and the list goes on.

Nor do I ever hear them complain of the enormous U.S. defense budget, larger than all other nations on earth combined.

Some of their statements were the absolute definition of sedition. That these loonies bear watching is an understatement. Personally, I think it already is too late. Reason doesn’t work on these individuals, as most progressives on this blog can testify to when arguing with a wingnut. Facts mean nothing, just their “beliefs” are valid.

They have embraced this right wing,
religious doctrine with a fervor that is truly frightening and blind. To me, it rivals any Islamic terrorist group in its’ intolerant and violent vision of the future and desire to suppress the majority, with force if necessary.

Meanwhile, their corporate sponsors laugh all the way to the bank. But the corporations better be careful – playing with fire in a hay loft can get out of control quickly and burn the person who started the blaze – corporate America and the greedy. Insurrection isn’t a very good business environment.

  8. “The radical fringe elements it is attracting should be of great concern to peace-loving and democracy-loving Americans.”

Sorry, Alan. Big yawn. You and many other liberals downplayed associations of Obama with radicals like Ayers, Pfleger, Wright, etc. I’m not concerned with loud protests.

This is democracy in action, despite all the squawking coming from the left. A million protesters in DC…all radicals? Or if SOME of the protesters know radicals, isn’t that guilt by association?

“This is pure and simple hatred for American Values and American Government that is founded not on facts but on partisanship, bigotry and / or racism.”

What American Values do you speak of? Seems like the very embodiment of American Values is redress of grievances and protesting the government. Sounds like you’ve been surfing Daily Kos too much, bro.

“These people should be ashamed of themselves.”

Yeah, EricG, millions and millions of people…all radicals…should be ashamed of themselves. No, you and many other libs should be ashamed of yourselves for trying to squelch or marginalize these people as being loons. You don’t have to agree with them. American Values include respect for the Office of Presidency. And if I have to explain this then your a bad American who needs to go take a civics class before you open your ignorant mouth.

Same with Wilson and same with these liars on FOX News. If you people seriously think is your moment you have become twisted to a point that there is nothing to respect in your entire party and in your entire movement. Just children screaming a series of lies that don’t add up and then disrespect the very institution that used to defend a few years ago.

  16. Maybe, just maybe, the american people are tired of the perpetual shift to the left the goverment has taken ever since the begining of FDR’s great society movement. Maybe 32 – 36 presidential czars is the straw that broke the peoples back. Perhaps appointing czars that say our nation allowed 3000 americans to die so we could go to war & that white people are poisioning blacks are people that we are truely scared of. Or could it be a czar that believes in putting sterilants in the drinking water, getting lawyers for animals, and constitutional basis for the amount of children that we can have? Maybe its representatives that refuse to meet with their constituients? Or could it be a president and representatives that call us Nazis & liars for trying to present our point of view. How about a goverment that calls people who believe in their 2nd amendment rights, anti-abortion and pro-constitution beliefs as reason to proclaim them terrorist suspects?
How about judicial activisim in the courts? How about run away spending? We see goverment failure over and over again. All of the failed promises from an ever expanding goverment and all we ever get are higher taxes and less freedoms for fewer rationed services.

The answer is not in goverment, but in ourselves.

Remember the latest polls show somewhere around 52 – 57% of all americans as being somewhat conservative when the ideals are listed item by item.

    Drk,

You know, I was waiting for the end of your post to see ‘Want to know more, well follow me, America..’

This stuff from the ‘czars’ to the criticism of the teabaggers, to the criticism of judges and bogus one-sided ‘analysis’ of government policies is cynically and deliberately misrepresented by the Right Wing media in order to play to people like yourself who want to hear it.

I think folks like Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity and other right-wing mouthpieces do a good job of highlighting what the right don’t like and in an ideal world would be great at simply getting people to think.

Unfortunately, its my conviction that many Americans are either not capable or have forgotten how to think for themselves. Therefore, they take these patently one-sided, misrepresented and often out of context talking-points as not only fact but also the ‘fair and balanced’ analysis on the matter.

And so.. you see the same shtick that these guys utter, regurgitated by their conservative viewers, on forums like this ad nauseum.

I would thus urge Conservatives in particular to stop outsourcing their thinking to Glenn Beck etc and obtain the whole story about an issue before forming a judgment.

It must be that con “elitism” that makes YOU think that only your side has the truth.
Actually part of the reason I feel that so often the truth is exactly the opposite of what the “con” say it is.

Just because you call it Marxism doesn’t make it so, anymore than when the left calls the right fascists.
( Although, it DOES bring to mind Ron Suskind’s 2004 article where the Bush staffer say’s “you are part of the reality based community. We make our own reality.”)

I will repeat a letter to the editor I saw in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette
Thursday, 9/10/09: ( from someone who lived in Germany.
    A system to envy
There is a lot of misinformation about so-called socialized health care. As for the German system, it covers everybody from birth to grave; it even includes dental care. Having this kind of coverage means financial peace of mind when seeking medical care.
The system was founded in 1864 by Otto von Bismark, a staunch conservative who outlawed the social democratic party, hardly a commie. I am not aware of any death counseling; in fact the Germans get, on average, older than the U.S. citizen. The cost per capita is about half the health-care costs in the United States. I am convinced that U.S. citizens would be ecstatic to have a similar system.
But the angry town hall discussions are not about health care; they are about getting back at President Obama without appearing racist. The movement was instigated by the bloated radio talk show hosts from the Fox News channels. These channels would not exist in Germany, their never-ending rant against everything left of Dick Cheney is just too close to the past Nazi propaganda.
As to the angry cry against government interference, a visit to Somalia for a few months should give a taste of what it feels like to live in a country where nobody pays taxes, the government has nothing to say and everyone can carry as many concealed guns as he can hide in his pants.

    Note specifically:
“. The movement was instigated by the bloated radio talk show hosts from the Fox News channels. These channels would not exist in Germany, their never-ending rant against everything left of Dick Cheney is just too close to the past Nazi propaganda.
”

    EricG Reply:

“The answer is not in goverment, but in ourselves”

If that was true we would have plenty of health care and plenty of money and plenty of jobs.

Your whole ideology is flawed and we have seen for ourselves in recent events that letting the free market run wild and leaving everything to indiviuals leaves us a ruined nation.

If we keep listening to people with your logic we will have recessions and dead people.

If we listen to Obama we will have recovery and better health care in the US.

But you won’t listen. You’ll only scream at him during his speeches.

  17. Nope, I think it is simply a goverment that says to the majority of it’s population that they are liars and nazi’s for not wanting socialized health care. A goverment that will put the rules aside, not read their bills, nor care who wrote them and just pass them agaisnt the consent of the people. A goverment that will give billions to acorn to further voter fraud. That arogance of goverment is why so many people marched at the tea-party rallies. God Bless them and our great nation.

Funny how Clinton said he was not going to investigate Iran Contra, (time to move on), The GOP had nothing to offer BUT bogus investigations, by the time we get to ignoring terrorist threats, false wmd, wiretapping, torture, well NOW, the people are tired of investigations, time to move on.

I, for one, would love to see a full blown investigation into the entire torture, wiretapping, war crimes, thing, and not just against the those at the bottom, but those at the top. Will we get one? What proof do you need than directly from the horses mouth?

    OldLefty Reply:

Funny thing, from Van Jones book,

Van Jones: The Green Collar Economy ,

“There will surely be an important role for nonprofit voluntary, cooperative, and community-based solutions,” Jones writes on page 86. “But the reality is that we are entering an era during which our very survival will demand invention and innovation on a scale never before seen in the history of human civilization. Only the business community has the requisite skills, experience, and capital to meet that need. On that score, neither the government nor the nonprofit and voluntary sectors can compete, not even remotely.

Or how about this, from an address before the Center for American Progress on Nov. 19, 2008 (well before Jones was brought into the Obama administration):
“Everything that is good for the environment, everything that’s needed to beat global warming, is a job,” Jones said. “Solar panels don’t manufacture themselves. Wind turbines don’t manufacture themselves. Homes don’t weatherize themselves. Every single thing that we need to beat global warming will also beat the recession. And the challenge is, how do we get the government to be a smart, and limited, catalyst in getting the private sector to take on this challenge?”

Glen beck has a nice gig telling people just what they want to hear, 20 hours /week…talk about indoctrination.

You want from the horse’s mouth:

When the left is demonized for accusing the Bush adm of planning the war in Iraq BEFORE they got into office,

Rebuilding America’s Defenses states that it aims to:

    Pp51

“Futher, the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event — like a new Pearl Harbor.”)

Perhaps you should stop listening to the s**t spewing from a horse’s ass which is Glen Beck.

  21. The far left loons are so outraged over Rep. Wilson shouting “You lie” to Obama but give a pass to the loons on the left who called Bush a “liar”, a “Nazi”, “Hitler”, who booed and hissed Bush during his State of the Union Address in 2005, to Algore who bellowed that George Bush “Betrayed his country”.

Why is any of that different than calling Obama a Liar?

    OldLefty Reply:

The left is not so much outraged: just saddened at the decline of discourse:

Remember William F Buckley debating Noam Chomsky, while nobody interrupted other.

Some, (like myself are amused, and saddened)

AGAIN, they did NOT boo and hiss, they said “no, no”,

Remember, Dan Barton called Bill Clinton a Scumbag.

    Daddio Reply:

Ever see a debate between, say, Al Sharpton and a conservative? Al Sharpton has to be interrupted by the host so that the conservative has a chance to get a word in edgewise.

A typical liberal tactic is to fillabuster a debate or to rudely interrupt his opponent. I have experienced that personally. I have tried to debate or discuss issues with fellow workers and they do not want to hear what I have to say. They interrupt me consistently or talk over me.

And, Dan Burton has a right to his speech also. Just as Rep. Wilson.

    OldLefty Reply:

Daddio, That is EXACTLY the left says about your side.

You just expect YOUR opinion to be taken as fact.

As for Van Jones and the “poisoning

    He HAS basis for it.

Science & Ethics Hold Up EPA Nomination: pesticide experiment draws fire
Fri, 08 Apr 2005
The Los Angeles Times reports that Senator Bill Nelson of Florida is equally outraged about the Environmental Protection Agency pesticide experiment that would expose 60 poor babies to pesticides to study how much harm they incur:
“The government should not be asking families to turn their babies into guinea pigs,” Nelson said in a statement. “They should be protecting children, not exposing them to pesticides.”

    Daddio Reply:

You site the LA Times. Not credible. Just likt the NY Times, a left wing publication. Give me a credible source Lefty.

    Daddio Reply:

And why are you fine with an avowed communist in the highest levels of government?

The contra affair was for funding the freedom fighters against the thug Daniel Ortega.

    OldLefty Reply:

When have you EVER given us a credible source?

    The Moonie Washington Times?

The right wing sites that just cite each other?

I don’t believe he has been an avowed communist since he grew up.

I would rather have an avowed communist in the highest levels of government than death squad leaders, fascists and felons in the highest levels of government.

And Daniel Ortega was elected by the people, and you wanted to replace him with a right wing dictator, like you replaced Mossadegh with the Shah.

    Daddio Reply:

I guess the last time I have given you a credible source Lefty, according to you, is never. About the last time you have given me a credible source.

In Van Jones own words, “By August I was a Communist.” 1993

And Daniel Ortega was, and is a dictatorial thug. Removing him was a blessing. The people wanted him out so that they could regain their freedom Lefty. What does the left in this country have against freedom? Why do you get so angry whenever we help overthrow a dictatorial thug? You praise thugs like Fidel Castro, Daniel Ortega, Hugo Chavez, and Saddam Hussien.

    I don’t get it.

Willy tells a fib about OldLefty:

Would you care to back that accusation up? Or would you just prefer to apologize for lying?

Many, many things in the liberal comments here lead to the conclusion that those leaders, aka thugs are held in high esteem to liberals because they aspire to have a government such as the ones these thugs have. You know, free nationalized healthcare, government run corporations, aka nationalization of private business, silencing of their opponents, confiscation of hard earned wages in the form of taxes, etc.

I am not lying Cara. I only call em as I see em.

Iraq had free nationalized Healthcare?Iraq had a high taxation rate? You’re inventing more stuff to cover up what you invented, Daddido.

Let me tell you what’s happening here:
    1.Party X loses its appeal.
2.Party X tries to invent a mythical beast (”Saddam, Castro,Chavez”) as the cause of the problems of the group of people they appeal to.
That causative relationship is never established.
3.When someone tries to bring the topic back to the problems of this group of people, those people are branded as “Supporters of Saddam,Castro,Chavez”.
Arbitrary name calling, branding, this is ooooold Daddido. Even you are smart enough to see through your own BS now.

    To put the above differently:

It is possible to be Anti Saddam AND Anti Iraq war.
“If I am against the Iraq war, I am supporting Saddam” is something you’d like to believe is true. How many ever times Fox Entertainment repeated the above, am sorry to inform you, its not true. Wake up and smell the coffee.

    I REALLY am leaving now.

As for In Van Jones own words, “By August I was a Communist.” 1993
Nobody debates that he said he was a communist.
So what, there is nothing wrong with that…..and he is honest.

Again, there are actual criminals who lie about who they are:
Remember we did not vote in 2000, for Straussians to “remake the middle east.

The People did NOT want Ortega out the Reagan administration wanted him out. They were the greatest threat to the freedom of the people….you just believe the propaganda.

What does the right in this country have against freedom???
(It gets in the way of profits)
We get SO angry when you support dictators like:
Suharto,~ Indonesia, Franco ~ Spain, Hitler ~ GermanyNgo Dinh Diem ~ South Viet Nam, Fulgencio Batista ~ Cuba, Papa Doc, Baby Doc ~ Haiti, Gen Humberto Branco ~ Brazil, Col. Hugo Banzer ~ Bolivia, Gen Augusto Pinochet ~ Chile, Anastasio Somoza Sr and Jr. ~ Nicaragua, Siad Barre ~ Somalia, P. W. Botha ~ South Africa, P. W. Botha ~ South Africa, The Shah, AND Saddam
AND let’s not forget, , — José Wilfredo Salgado of El Salvador says he collected baby skulls as trophies in the 1980s,…the SOA, couldn’t do enough for hiom, even as the killed the nuns.??

When the people DO get their freedom, there is ALWAYS going to be a left wing backlash, then you can blame the people and do even MORE damage.
    I don’t get it.

    OldLefty Reply:

Daddio, what most amazes me is that people (on both sides ) often can not see that their views are NOT unique, and that by all the parameters you use to judge others, you seem to be unable to see that they see you in the same way.

So we can just as easily say,

“Many, many things in the CONSERVATIVE comments here lead to the conclusion that those leaders, aka thugs are held in high esteem BY CONSERVATIVES because they aspire to have a government such as the ones these thugs have. You know, CORRUPT, PREDATORY, PRIVATE, FOR PROFIT healthcare, CORPORATE RUN GOVERNMENT, aka PRIVATIZATION OF ESSENTIAL PUBLIC SERVICE , silencing AND SPYING of AND ON their opponents, PERPETUAL WARS FOR PERPETUAL PROFIT,confiscation of hard earned wages in the form of CORPORATE WELFARE etc.

So what do we do Lefty? Seems to me by what you just said, everyone here is just wasting their breath, er, wearing out their keyboards for nothing because we are all the same in that sense and nobody is right when everybody is wrong.

No, its your lack of honesty in the debate that shows up.
I’ve told you this before: If you come to the debate assuming you could not be wrong, its a waste of everyone’s time, your being in the debate.
Dont try to paint your personality, your lack of honesty in the debate as my “presumed superiority”; I ALWAYS come to the table assuming I could be wrong.

  22. Pick the non radical parts of his talks Lefty. Good job. But I want to know where Presidential appointments stand, and whether or not they espouse out of the mainstream radical views, of which Van Jones does.

He is an avowed communist. Never renounced those views.

He has accused whites of poisoning minority communities. Never renounced those statements.

Has accused whites of dropping poison on illegals crossing our borders. Never renounced that claim.

Why do you want an avowed communist in our government? Unless you hold the same views.

  23. [...] Teabagger Co-sponsor Warns Of Pitchforks, Guns, Civil War And Revolution [...]

  24. Maureen Dowd said, ( And YES, she DOES lean left), but it’s hard to disagree:
( I REPEAT, If you don’t want to be called racist…get the blatant racial slurs out of your party.)

“The congressman, we learned, belonged to the Sons of Confederate Veterans, led a 2000 campaign to keep the Confederate flag waving above South Carolina’s state Capitol and denounced as a “smear” the true claim of a black woman that she was the daughter of Strom Thurmond, the ’48 segregationist candidate for president. Wilson clearly did not like being lectured and even rebuked by the brainy black president presiding over the majestic chamber.
I’ve been loath to admit that the shrieking lunacy of the summer — the frantic efforts to paint our first black president as the Other, a foreigner, socialist, fascist, Marxist, racist, Commie, Nazi; a cad who would snuff old people; a snake who would indoctrinate kids — had much to do with race.
I tended to agree with some Obama advisers that Democratic presidents typically have provoked a frothing response from paranoids — from Father Coughlin against F.D.R. to Joe McCarthy against Truman to the John Birchers against J.F.K. and the vast right-wing conspiracy against Bill Clinton.

But Wilson’s shocking disrespect for the office of the president — no Democrat ever shouted “liar” at W. when he was hawking a fake case for war in Iraq — convinced me: Some people just can’t believe a black man is president and will never accept it.”
