Palin Slams Obama “On Foreign Soil”; Some Walk Out In Disgust
Speaking in Hong Kong to Asian investors, former Alaska governor Sarah Palin used the occasion to attack President Obama.
Former US vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin said the US government was wasting taxpayers’ money and could aggravate poverty, said delegates at her first speech outside North America on Wednesday.
[...]
Some of those who attended praised her forthright views on government social and economic intervention and others walked out early in disgust.
“She was brilliant,” said a European delegate, on condition of anonymity.
“She said America was spending a lot of money and it was a temporary solution. Normal people are having to pay more and more but things don’t get better. The rich will leave the country and the poor will get poorer.”
Two US delegates left early, with one saying “it was awful, we couldn’t stand it any longer”. He declined to be identified.
“Bashing America on foreign soil” has been a meme of the right, which has attacked Democrats whenever an ill word was spoken overseas, so I wonder if that same principle will apply to Sarah Palin.
According to delegates, she said US President Barack Obama’s administration worsened an already difficult situation when earlier this month he slapped duties on Chinese tire imports blamed for costing American jobs.
They said she praised the economic policies of former US President Ronald Reagan and criticised the current administration for intervening too much during the recent financial crisis.

This woman is not smart. Simple minded, yes, but not smart.

I think we will see high praise from the loud conservative right on this.
Hypocrisy of this order is not even on the radar screen for them. It does not seem to exist for them, they are simply the end all be all.
Pro-life while pro-war
War protests are unamerican while tea party protest is all-american
Complaining about not being heard on health care reform while championing disruption at town hall meetings so no one gets heard
Breathtaking hypocrisy.
More of the same to come, bet money on it.

She took only pre-arranged questions. Hypocrisy
No press. Hypocrisy
Bashed the current president and administration on foreign soil. Hypocrisy
High praise is right around the corner.

Good stuff AJ, well said.
I encourage Palin to talk more. I’m willing to wager on the fact that she will help the democratic party more than any other politician. the wager? a milkshake… no such thing as a sure bet.

I heard something similar to Palin’s comments on FOX last night.
“Unemployment checks only encourage people to stay at home and goof off. Lacking this easy money, people would go find jobs and the unemployment rate would decrease.”
The Cons must be passing a mental illness around.
But the good news is, I’m sitting here listening to Gadhafi’s UN speech and we can all feel “better” knowing Palin isn’t the only crazy “leader” running around making crazy speeches. This Gadhafi guy is seriously nuts.

Yes, give a listen to Gadhafi.
He’s ranged from the US Civil War to “Jack Ruby was an Israeli agent” to “the Somali pirates are only trying to feed their families” to the “fish flu” is only a scheme to make drug makers rich.
Fish flu? Palin is beginning to sound almost normal.

The Rich will leave this Country because they will no longer afford paying Employer Health Aid Benefits, if there isn’t reasonable and affordable Health Care Reform. Let me get this right? Palin is upset about Fair Trade and wants to aid and enable Industry to leave this Country? If the Rich are going to leave, my question is…What Country will take Palin and get her the hell out of here? PLEASE! And the rest of the story….As the last ship sailed from the shores of America, loaded with Americans, headed back to the Mother Countries, for a better way of life, the Natives saw them off and waved good bye. The Native American were smiling but under their breaths they were saying, “Good riddens and don’t come back!”

Paying to hear Palin give financial advise, I just have to imagine the crowd. If someone could find out the price of that ticket I’d be much obliged. Hearing her warn against a one-nation Asia may have been worth it.

If those people Paid to hear Palin give financial advise, you got to admit they do need financial advise.

NOBODY is to blame.
The free market system naturally brings comedians into the public spotlight; There’s money to be made marketing comedians, who have a good comedy appeal, like Sarah Palin.
And there’s nothing sinful about it,note: Eric.

Yeah but the “European delegate” was apparently infected with Palinitis, which has the immediate effect of lowering the IQ by fifty or sixty points, reducing many people to drooling gibbering buffoons. I guess George Bush must’ve caught it too. Or maybe it should properly be called Bushotosis.

The difference of course is that America Bashing on foreign soil is being done by President Obama and Mrs. Clinton. Here, not only is Palin not a sitting official, she isn’t bashing America; just ideologies that would weaken America.

The big deal that I see here is the brazen hypocrisy.
That’s what I see John.
Do you remember all the hoopla in the past ?
It’s a big no-no by conservative standards, bad mouthing the president on foreign soil.
Conservative standards seem awfully flux these days.
Also, Palin is seen as a possible presidential contender in 2012.

I bad mouth the President on domestic soil. And I would do it if on foreign soil. Point is, I am not bashing America. Which is what Obama does. As a sitting President.
Huge difference.

So being on a concert stage in London and saying “I’m ashamed that the ‘president’ of the United States is from Texas” is not bashing America, but just bashing the little dimwit who liked to pretend he was the President at the time?
Just so we know, ‘cuz conservatives screamed blue murder over that one.
Far from “bashing America”, Obama is increasing the goodwill of people all over the world towards America.

Is it your opinion that America has a perfect system that cannot make errors on international issues?
If you agree with me that America can make errors, how would accepting “errors” (using quotes there because identifying which decision is an error has an element of judgement in it) constitute bashing America?
To put it differently, How can you learn from your errors if you wont acknowledge your errors in the first place? How does acknowledging errors constitute “bashing America”?
September 23rd, 2009 at 7:25 pm
I think you confuse bashing with with candor.
I have not heard ANYBODY bash America, unless admitting mistakes is “bashing”.
That’s just being a grownup.

I agree Lefty.
Admitting faults is very healthy and productive, even on an international level.
Perhaps especially on an international level, as it can lead to greater trust. Honesty.
What Palin did was to bad mouth the current president, while in Hong Kong.

Liberal loons seem to forget that when Obama goes to foreign countries he always manages to apologize for the United States. After all, according to him, the US is not a Christian nation and we are very arrogant. Obama remains the greatest danger this country has ever faced.

Let me ask you this: Do you think the US is a perfect nation?Do you think the US doesnt make mistakes on the international front? Do you think the US has done nothing “it shouldnt have done”?
Hypothetically, Assuming the answer to the last question is Yes,do you think an apology is out of order?

This is kinda the same point. Do you accept that we are living in a world full of people and leaders that are looking out for their own concerns, many of which don’t actually even consider their own citizens?

Saying that America is wasting money on a temporary solution is not bashing. It’s reality. Apparently liberals have a tough time with that concept. Take the cash for clunkers fiasco for example. All it did was shift consumer demand and purchases from next year or the year after to this year – and it cost each and every one of us taxpayers. It created no new demand, just moved it around a bit. Every sale made this year under that program is one sale that will not be made in the future. A prime example of wasting money on a temporary solution.
September 24th, 2009 at 6:14 pm
karthiks030977 – In 2012 this country will be apologizing for having elected Obama to his one 4 year term. He’s doing more damage to this country than any president before him.
