Former McCain Adviser: Tea Parties “Bad For Republicans”

mckinnon

Mark McKinnon (right), a former adviser to John McCain, warns about the impact of the tea parties.  Some of the party elite seem enamored of the tea parties, like Senator Jim DeMint of SC, Congresman Mike Pence of IN and Congresswoman Michele Bachmann of MN.

But top Republican strategists and many party observers also worry about the impact that the most extreme protesters might have on the party’s image, including those who carry swastika signs or obsess over the veracity of Obama’s Hawaiian birth.

Mark McKinnon, a former adviser to Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) and other Republicans, said there …

Hate Tweets

170885-142424-gigantic-twitterrific-icon_180_original

I have often posted my hate mail, but this has been a weekend full of hate Tweets.  There were objections to my use of the term “teabaggers” to describe Saturday’s protesters.  There is no awareness, it seems, of how they may have brought this upon themselves, choosing a symbol that could easily be conflated with a distasteful sexual term.  It also doesn’t seem to occur to them that there are such things as synonyms. Some words have more than one meaning, totally separate and apart from each other.  They infer what I don’t imply.  Most amusing is the name-calling …

Teabagger Co-sponsor Warns Of Pitchforks, Guns, Civil War And Revolution

Ron_Ewart

Think Progress references some of the groups which paid $10,000 to Freedomworks for the privilege of sponsoring Saturday’s teabagger events. The radical fringe elements it is attracting should be of great concern to peace-loving and democracy-loving Americans. They seem to forget that an election less than a year ago put a different set of people in power. The majority made a choice. But their way of fighting back is something to be wary about. While they are calling for vigilance against the “liberals” in our government, it is the forces of Democracy that need to be vigilant against them.

Many …

The GOP Corporate Push Behind The 9/12 Teabaggers

090912_obamcaresign_blog

Stay Classy, Teabaggers!

Dick Army’s group FreedomWorks, which organized last spring’s tea parties, is behind Saturday’s events as well.  They claim to model themselves on MoveOn.org, except that MoveOn.org actually is a grassroots group, and not funded by corporate lobbyists like FreedomWorks is. The official website for the event, 912dc.org, is owned by FreedomWorks.

–Armey’s FreedomWorks is actively organizing against health care reform. Indeed, Armey’s lobbying firm represents pharmaceutical companies, such as Bristol-Myers Squibb, that oppose comparative effectiveness research in the health reform plan because such a program may cut into revenue for branded …

Joe “You Lie” Wilson Voted To Give Tax Dollars To Illegals For Health Care

art.youlie.gi

Congressman Joe “You Lie” Wilson voted in 2003 for a bill that gave health care to illegal immigrants.

The vote came on the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement and Modernization Act of 2003, which contained Sec. 1011 authorizing $250,000 annually between 2003 and 2008 for government reimbursements to hospitals who provide treatment for uninsured illegal immigrants. The program has been extended through 2009 and there is currently a bipartisan bill in Congress to make it permanent.

And whether the anti-reform anti-immigrant crowd likes it or not, hospital emergency rooms will continue to be where they go for help. Are …

Wilson Says Outburst Inspired By Town Hall Meeetings

Congressman Joe “You Lie” Wilson seemingly believed he was at a town hall meeting when he shouted out at President Obama during the address t the joint session of Congress.  He spoke to “Red County” where posters are screeching comments like “Go Big Joe!” and “Joe’s my hero!”  He claimed in that interview, which began by the saying, “Congressman Wilson, you are a very popular guy today,” Wilson said, “I was energized by the town hall meetings.” How impressive!

Wilson continues the lie about “a government takeover of health care” and “liberals who want to give health care …
