Was watching Jon Stewart…what a guy,what a line…
“Conservatives hate Obama more than they love America”…heh,I’ll like to hear a conservative’s counter to that…

How about:
“Liberals love Obama more than they hate America!”
Hahaha, just kidding.

And that makes you an ill-tempered intolerant lib. Glad you admitted it.

No, it makes me a fact-monger.
And proud of it.
Glad to stand against bigotry and tyranny.
No greater boon to the nation could I hope to contribute…

If you have a “pre-existing condition” you’ll be denied individual health insurance. There is no 1-year waiting period. They won’t cover you, period. A pre-existing condition can be something as simple as allergies or acne, not the serious things you’d expect it to be like cancer or diabetes.
Group plans are different but only because they’re regulated and the companies “have” to let people with pre-existing conditions on. They can play rate games to make up for it though and the smaller the “group”, the more games they’ll play.
Insurance is a dirty business. Trying to paint them as the victim is … typical.

I have.
The mainline companies won’t insure me because of hayfever and a back injury (healed long ago) from way back in the 20th century. Even though BCBS insured me for years in a group plan, with no claims other than that backache diagnosis costing them <$500, they won't touch me under an individual plan.
I ended up with insurance from a small insurer who would only write me a policy with waivers. The waivers are so general and wide ranging I'm not sure their insurance is much better than no insurance.
I'm un-insurable because of "ill health" and high risk yet I run several marathons each year.

I did.
With any pre-existing condition and outside of group health insurance, you’re uninsurable by any mainline insurer. Pre-existing conditions can be anything as simple as acne or allergies.
Your only chance is with one of the smaller outfits and even then they’ll only write you a policy with general, wide ranging waivers and it’s still quite expensive.

Better yet, the first mainline insurer that turned me down for individual insurance was my former group plan provider. I/we paid them $10,000s for the previous 20 years with few claims.
It makes little sense. Single-payer is the way to go. The only losers are … the insurance companies and their investors.

Afghanistan’s “natural resources include gold, silver, copper, zinc, and iron ore in the Southeast; precious and semi-precious stones (such as lapis, emerald, and azure) in the Northeast; and potentially significant petroleum and natural gas reserves in the North. The country also has uranium, coal, chromite, talc, barites, sulfur, lead, and salt. However, these significant mineral and energy resources remain largely untapped, due to the effects of the Soviet invasion and the subsequent civil war. Plans are underway to begin extracting them in the near future.”

Bull. They remain untapped due to the extreme “uneconomic” conditions in that country.

That may be true John, for the moment, but not much longer. India, is quite aware of it’s natural resources, and countries in the EU, will gladly help them build up on their equity, on the world stage.

“Whispering Bill Anderson” always makes me smile.
I don’t really know why he does, but he does.
October 6th, 2009 at 12:58 am
Who’s he? ” Whispering Bill” I mean?
Not eatin’,too many beans, is he?

“One of the most successful songwriters in country music history, Anderson was also a popular singer, earning the nickname Whispering Bill for his soft vocal style and occasional spoken narrations.”

Whisperin’ Bill calls in most nights for the last few minutes of the show and only says, “Whisperin’ Bill Anderson”. He doesn’t seem like a bean kind of guy to me, but perhaps.
I suspect it’s not the genuine Anderson. He might be, but probably not. The real one must have better things to do each weeknight at 12m.

Yeah, I’ve always wondered who the heck it was…if it was actually the real guy or not! Weird.

Colmes isn’t a bigot. He is Jewish. The Jewish faith, as far as I know, look at Jesus as a prophet. They don’t study the New Testament.
I don’t know how strong Alan’s faith is. I don’t know Alan’s views on Jesus. But Alan is no bigot.

“But Alan is no bigot.”
Alan is a good guy, just like most everyone who posts on this site.
“Good” doesn’t equal “correct”…about anything, necessarily. :-P
I don’t understand any sort of conservative rage against Alan…good grief. One of the nicest, most even-handed libs around. There are a lot of libs who need to be raged against before Alan.
I need to create a blacklist of libs to get mad at.

This all came up because Alan pointed out that conservatives are not Christians by their actions even if they claim to be by their words.
And it’s true.
Ayn Rand is the savior of conservatives, not Jesus.

Bill Frist is a good hearted American who really cares for people. He has helped many sick people in many third world countries. And he continues to heal many people in his own neighborhood.

Too bad Bill Frist has different opinions depending upon whether or not he is in or out of Congress.
Does it say more about Bill Frist, or about the money in Congress.

I am talking about Frist as a humanitarian and one who loves his career as a physician. You’ll notice he only served a very short time in the Senate.
How many democrats can you name who voluntarilly bow out after only one or two terms in office? How many Republicans serve 30, 40, 50 years in the House or Senate?
OldLefty Reply:

Frist left when he saw the writing on the wall.
I lost a lot of respect for him when he was on a Sunday show, struggling over (superstitions about the spread of aids), the need to please the far right base, and his knowledge as an MD.
Also WRONGLY diagnosing Terri Schivio from the Senate floor, (actually illegal), and never fessing up that his family’s private chain of hospitals are the nation’s largest abortion providers while pandering to the anti choicers.
October 6th, 2009 at 9:15 am
Bill “The Death Panel” Frist would most likely never want to debate anyone on the issues because he is supporting a feeding frenzy for wealthy insurance giants instead of supporting the American family in getting access to health care.
He sounds like a rare character in today’s policts: an honest man.
These people have to label everyone who says anything they don’t like exactly what they are: bigots.
That’s interesting.
Where does Alan stand on the accused rapist Glenn Beck?
Does he want to talk about that a little on the air?
