Limbaugh To Be Out As Possible Rams Owner

October 14th, 2009, 5:36 PM EDT

Oliver Willis has the ESPN story.

Dave Checketts, chairman of the NHL’s St. Louis Blues and the point man in the Limbaugh group attempting to buy the Rams, realizes he must remove the controversial conservative radio host from his potential role as a minority member in the group in order to get approval from other NFL owners, the sources said.

UPDATE: At 6:25 p.m. ET, the AP confirms that Limbaugh “has been dropped from a group seeking to buy the St. Louis Rams.”

  4. Maybe he is being judged by Karma! It’s pay-back time for Limbaugh.

I don’t see how you can expect a league to welcome you as an owner when you’ve said in the past that the NFL is looking like a fight between the Bloods and Crips without weaponry!! Limbaugh is smart enough to know why they don’t won’t him around and I’m sure he’s not going to fight it one bit. He knows better.

ahh…if only the same “image” criteria was being applied to the players themselves…you know…the ex-cons and the murderers (dog or human), the druggies, the ones who beat up women…

Oh, wait…Goodell was right (scoff!)…it would be much better if a person who is completely behind the scenes had what he calls the “NFL Image” rather than the people on TV every week.

Now THAT’S a good point. If the NFL really was concerned about their image, they’d hire non-football players.

you’re right about the double-standard for the players vs. the owners, but we are talking about sports, not the debate team.

Jared is exactly right. The criteria to be a Cincinnati Bengal now-a-days is to have some crimminal record. And how about all the steroid use in the past. Then there are the bar brawls, some end up in someone getting shot.

Yeah, the NFL is trying to protect their image.

This isn’t about “image” this is about the fact that people hate Limbaugh for what he says on the air that is racist, hateful and ignorant.

And those same people don’t want to work under him and would leave the NFL if they saw them letting Limbaugh own teams.

I would quit if I were on a team owned by that racist piece of un-American trash.

I would quit and make a scene about how it was because he was a drug addict who spews racism and bigotry instead of having a real job.

Then look at his cronies and toadies coming to defend this bigot.

You all look like bigots yourselves defending the words of a hate-merchant, smear-artist and race baiter.

  5. Limbaugh is not taking this lying down. NO ONE out there can produce the supposed racist comments made by Rush. He has started legal proceedings against those who have slandered him. I wish him all the success in the world in his quest to bring the perpetrators to justice.

He will be taking it while bending over and grabing his ankle.
That guy has no “cojones”; whenever he gets caught for saying what he really means, he retracts his big,fat turtle-like head. When is he going to man-up.

    That’s funny, Daddio.

    Get ready.

    Here they come…

    The Racist Limbaugh:

“In Obama’s America white kids now get beat up with black kids cheering, ‘Yeah! Right on, right on!’”

“When is the last time Gen. Powell endorsed a white liberal for president?”

“This whole election [2008] was based on race.”

    http://open.salon.com/blog/eric_lightborn/2009/09/17/overt_race-baiting_from_limbaugh_and_racial_politics

Limbaugh is a race baiter and play at being an avowed racist at heart.

You defending him no matter what hate-nonsense he says makes me think you support racism and based on your own words:

“I think multiculturalism is what is wrong with America.”

There is a strong case to be made that you too are a racist.

    Try this out:

Reject people when they say racist comments.

    Just try.

We all do this except the right wing.

Thus you all smell like a pack of lying racists and hateful bigots than you do like good Americans.

  6. Daddio,

The league has a right to sell to whoever they want to. a right to sell.

If it is because they want to keep political controversy out, or because the owners like to stay in the background and don’t want it to be all about the latest thing Limbaugh said….

The same could be said if Al Sharpton wanted to buy a team.

    And statements like:

    The Donovan McNabb comment and,

Limbaugh says “NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips.” On January 19, 2007, Limbaugh ststed “Look it, let me put it to you this way. The NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There I said it.”

During the February 14 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, Rush Limbaugh invented a racial component to explain Iraq war veteran Paul Hackett’s departure from the Ohio Democratic Senate primary race. While reporting on Hackett’s decision to withdraw from the Democratic primary race against Rep.Sherrod Brown (D-OH) for the seat currently held by Sen. Mike DeWine (R-OH), Limbaugh asserted: “And don’t forget, Sherrod Brown is black. There’s a racial component here, too,” adding that “the newspaper that I’m reading all this from is The NYT, and they, of course, don’t mention that.”

Are right off of his website.
